This 2 day Fundamentals of Dynamic Positioning course will provide a comprehensive understanding of dynamic positioning systems and operations, from technical and commercial perspectives, to future industry trends.
Led by an experienced DP instructor, the course will start off with an overview of the principles and system requirements of dynamic positioning, such as redundancy, levels of control, and modes. The 7 main components
of a DP system including control systems, thrusters, position reference systems, and sensors will be examined in detail.
Human errors are inevitable. No matter how competent
the people we employ or how much training we do,
human fallibility cannot be avoided. This is why a
resilient socio-technical system must be created to avoid
negative consequences caused by mismanagement of
errors and threats. This is the key to creating a more
advanced and higher level of system safety. Addressing
latent conditions at the workplace, such as bridge
ergonomics, complements such a system.
It is, however, not enough to impart Human Factors’
training to the officers and believe that all weaknesses
will be taken care of. First of all, officers must be
required to have a thorough understanding of the
equipment they use before they are put in charge of a
navigational watch. Second, there must be a consistent
organization, which is not solely depending on the person
in command. Third, ship-specific procedures and
checklists, which are reviewed at frequent intervals, must
be put in place.
This document provides information on maritime training courses offered by Hostile Control Tactics (HCT) in 2015, including:

Evaluations found participants learned an average of four new safety practices.
The document outlines crowd management training requirements for personnel designated to assist passengers during emergencies. It discusses key areas including familiarization with life-saving equipment and emergency plans, assisting passengers to muster stations, executing mustering procedures through communication, and restrictions on elevator use requiring passengers to use stairs. It also covers providing clear reassurance to passengers, controlling passenger movement, evacuating disabled passengers, searching accommodations, and mustering procedures such as maintaining calm and conducting headcounts.
While the essential knowledge domain for ship-operation is large and growing rapidly, and the available time for the proper training of maritime professionals is perhaps shrinking to meet the growing industry demand, it is becoming more & more essential to ensure proper capture and management of this important knowledge-base. Poor management of this knowledge area may not only result in gaps in training but breaches of safety in critical shipboard procedures and perhaps further aggravated by the attrition of trained shipboard personnel as they move to work ashore. In the paper, the authors will address these issues and describe a possible dynamic digital knowledge-capture strategy, and the development of an incrementally growing maritime digital knowledge repository, which could not only alleviate some of these problems but lead to an overall improvement in ship safety and operations. The authors will also share the methodology, presently being planned at the Malaysian Maritime Academy (MMA), and which is likely to lead to avenues of collaborative work between MMA, academia (UTM) and shipping companies.
As part of it's Military Is Good for Business campaign, the Officers' Association (OA) have teamed up with Business in the Community (BITC) to launch the Military Jargon Buster; An open project aimed at helping employers cut through the acronyms and cryptic terminology used by the military.
We've found that ‘military jargon' can be a barrier for employers looking to engage with or recruit military personnel, often meaning Service Leavers are overlooked for civilian career opportunities and employers miss out on exceptional talent.
To kick start this business community project, the OA have created a working document, the Military Jargon Buster, to be shared with employers through its social networks and BITC's network. We want to hear from employers on what terminology they have come across so that we can create a practical tool and reference point for employers engaging with military personnel.

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.
