2. Tris is the hero of this book. She is a young female with a special
ability to think out side the norm and overcome any obstacle put
in her way. She is unsure of what is going to happen but relies on
her instinct, faith and passion to do right for the people. As many
dystopian heroes she faces love distractions, leaving her family
and feeling alone, desperately looking for a place to belong. She is
fearful of her status as divergent because of the risk to her life it
brings but learns to use it to better her life and expose
government corruption.
3. She is a quiet and humble girl
who is wanting to do right but
doesn’t know how.
She feels she doesn’t fit in in
her society that she has
grown up in and wants to get
out but is scared of leaving
her family.
She doesn’t know what will
happen if she goes and tries
something new. If she fails at
it because she doesn’t want
to become factionless.
4. When the day came when she
would choose her faction, she
went through the aptitude test.
The test consisted of scenarios
testing her instincts and ability to
solve them.
She had a little of the dauntless,
erudite, and abnegation factions
in her based on the outcome of
her score which is uncommon and
called divergent.
5. She chose to protect people and
stop the corruption that most
people were unaware of.
Because of her divergent
thought process she was able to
question authority and see
societal issues where others
could not or would not.
She chose the faction Dauntless.
She went through intense
training and pushed herself to
become the hero she became
through trials of the body.
6. Tris faces the
indecisiveness of her
heart as she chooses to
love Four, her superior,
and stay focused on being
found out as a divergent.
She must also focus on
her love for her family and
the questions she has
about why they cannot
stay together even
thought she has chosen a
different faction.Why
must she give up her
biological family for a new
family she barely knows?
7. Tris and Four work together with help fromTris family in
Abnegation and other Dauntless who see through the corruption
to overthrow the Erudite leader trying to overthrow the current
government to become a dictator.Tris and Four escape together
and are finally a free couple yet still on the run and stop a violent
revolution. She loses her family in the battle but gains the
satisfaction of knowing her worth and the fact that she never gave
up on them. She chose humanity, and family over faction and
demand.
8. Free will was traded for the security of
belonging to a faction. As long as you could
do one job and cater to one part of your
personality without question you were
allowed to live and carry on in the society.
9. One group had food, one group
has government control, one
group has knowledge, one group
has the honesty, and one group
all the guns they all rely on one
another but are also at each
others mercy. As we see in the
story, the Erudite’s try to force
their way into power by
controlling the Dauntless and
attacking those unable to defend
themselves. Relinquishing our
right to choice and self reliance
will lead to government
dependence and allow them to
control us.
10. In our society, its becoming bigger and bigger so more and
more problems are occurring. One way that the government
has changed is that it has gotten bigger too. If we can’t make
our society work then we would be putting ourselves in that
situation where the government will step in and tell us what
we can and cannot do and they will decide how we live our
live just like in the book.Trading free will for “security”.
11. People will not stand by while they are
suppressed and put down and sooner or
later the power will come back to the people
and they will be free again through a leader
likeTris or through rebellion, uprising, or
through hopeful democratic election and
order.
