Love triangle
 Cassia is a girl who was matched with her childhood best friend. When he
tried to review her micro card she finds not only a picture of Xander but also
a picture of Ky. She quickly starts to doubt the society she lives in and all
their flaws. She is confronted by an official who tells her that Ky’s picture was
a mistake. He is aberration and is not allowed to ever bet matched. After
learning this information Cassia confides in her grandfather who only has a
few days left to live. He, in his own way, lets her know that is okay to wonder
and think about Ky.
Fighting against society
 Cassia finds herself more and more intrigued with Ky. They have known each
other for many years but it isn’t until she sees his face on the micro card that
she starts to wonder who he really is. As the story goes Cassie and Ky start to
build a relationship on trust. Ky teaches her to write in the dirt and Cassia
teaches him poems that were not apart on the 100 poems that society kept.
After becoming well known with each other they start to fall in love when all
the sudden Cassia is forced to sort him and the rest of his co workers
unknowingly into a group that is set off to war. The society is forced to take
the red pill (to forget that Ky left for war the big scene that was made) but
Cassia only pretended to take it so she could go after Ky some day.
Why is Cassie the hero?
 Cassia starts to rebel against the society. If starts at the subtle hints at the
beginning of the book by wearing a green dress that no other girl has wore to
the match banquet. By holding onto a poem that her grandfather gave her she
keeps a little bit of history alive and she shares with Ky. No one in society can
write in print of cursive and yet she learns. These sublet acts of rebellion
shows that the society is not perfect and there is more to life than what the
small little society will allow them to experience. Cassia will stop at no end
to free herself, her family and both her loves Ky and Xander.
Warning Warning Warning
 Freedom is a huge threat to this society. They have worked very hard to
eliminate anything that cause potential harm. You eat what they say, you
work where they say, you love who they say, you even die when they say. The
society wants to you believe that you are controlled for the health benefits.
They want you to believe that you are safer when you do as they say. The
people of this society had this instilled in the since they were babies so they
knew know different. They weren’t afraid to act out they just purely didn’t
know why they should act out against the officials.
Are we moving toward this type of
society?
 Although the book is written ahead of our time it has some odd similarity. Yes
we have a lot more freedom than this society but we just may be slowly
approaching there level. Today we are being persuaded by the media how we
should elect our government, what foods like HMO and gluten anything is bad
for us. You can even turn on the TV and commercials are telling you how to
diagnose these crazy symptoms you have and who to call if you need to sue.
They try to put laws in place to force people to get insurance or tell people
who they can’t marry. We may think we have rights and free will but are they
just an illusion? We are slowly becoming more controlled and we are just
letting it happen in fear of what? In fear of the officials aka or government?
 This book is a huge warning to our society that if we don’t start standing up
for ourselves soon we will be having curfew, eat what we are told and working
where we are forced.
Just for fun

follows the book!
