Prior to working at Reuters, I completed a 4-month contract working for Netsoft Solutions, a prestigious
consultancy in the city. My role was very client focussed and I spent every day of the four months at customer sites,
resolving problems, implementing new solutions or managing projects.

• Rollout of NT and CCMail - Exchange migration for Equitas (4000 users). I was heavily involved in this project
designing the NT/Exchange infrastructure and migration techniques as well as configuring the hardware. Their
Exchange infrastructure consisted of two clustered Compaq 6400’s and a storage works RAID array.
• Re-design of CCRE's NT/Network infrastructure.
• Rollout of Terminal server and Metaframe for various clients.
PERFECT INFORMATION Dec 1998 – Apr 1999
Before Netsoft, I worked a 3-month contract managing an NT based network for an Information Provider called
Perfect Information. The post involved managing a staff of 4, ensuring the operation of their browser based
company information product which was powered by IIS, SQL and clustered ALPHA 4000’s supporting 4 storage
works arrays. The NT infrastructure consisted of 20 servers supporting 65 internal users and 5000 clients over an
ISP WAN.
Projects completed at Perfect Information. These projects were self implemented or completed by a team of three.
• Upgrade of all server software and firmware for Y2K compliance.
• Upgrade of web servers to IIS4 and Site server.
• Rollout of Exchange.
• Implementation of load balancing server.

HISCOX Jun1995 - December 1998
Previous to Perfect Information, I worked for Hiscox plc as the Senior network analyst and team-leader. The
network infrastructure consisted of 50 NT servers, 10 Novell servers and a Cisco/Xylan powered LAN/WAN. I led a
team of three acting as the senior technical resource for the company for 3 years. Hiscox is the largest Lloyds
insurance company and employs 750 staff.
Projects completed at Hiscox. I completed all the design and configuration work for these projects as well as acting
as project manager.
• Migration of Novell to NT. Involved 25 server upgrades and was implemented by a team of 4.
• Migration of MSMail to Exchange 4.0 and subsequent upgrades. 15 MSMail servers were migrated to 3
Exchange servers. The project took 2 months and was implemented by a team of 4.
• Rollout of SMS 1.2. Project completed over a bank holiday by a team of 15.
• Rollout of WINS, DHCP and DNS. Replaced static IP addressing, LMHOST and HOSTS files.
• Rollout of Windows 95 using SMS 1.2. Involved 750 desktops and was completed over 7 weeks.
• Installation of link to Internet and configuration of firewall.
• Installation of IIS4 based company website.
• Rollout of Faxination (Exchange fax solution). Implemented in 4 departments consisting of 250 users.
• Rollout of SNA server to replace IBM PC-support. Involved 750 users and was implemented over 2 months.
• Hiscox network infrastructure design for new building based on Xylan switches and Cisco routers.
