Duties and Responsibilities
ACADIMIC EXPERIANCES
• University supervision of the assigned of students in the clinical, class room and laboratory settings.
• Ability of education and guided the following topics: adult health nursing (medical and surgical);
fundamental of nursing; physical assessment and examination; principles of pharmacology; principles
of pathophysiology; health promotion; and research methods in nursing.
• Clinical supervision of the assigned group(s) of students in the clinical and laboratory settings.
• Prepare appropriate materials and learning activities for students to achieve the learning outcomes of
each class.
• Orient students to the clinical unit.
• Select appropriate learning experiences for the assigned student group(s), i.e., client/patient
assignments and planning clinical conferences.
• Observation of the students’ performance, guidance of the students’ performance, review
of procedures and principles as necessary.
• Evaluation of students’ clinical performance in writing on a weekly basis and verbally, as needed, on
an individual basis, including written feedback on the following:
- nursing Care plans
- Specialty rotation papers (when assigned)
• Documenting clinical observations and/or any appropriate incidents which may occur during the
clinical experience.
• Consulting with students individually and/or in groups to: review and/or evaluate progression towards
clinical outcomes and identify teaching strategies that could be reinforced or adjusted.
• Construct and administer tests, clinical evaluation forms, and/or other means, for measuring student
learning.
• Maintain any student records appropriate to regular college procedure and assessment practice.
• Maintain a cooperative, positive relationship with the staff on any unit of the healthcare facility
assigned to facilitate the optimum learning environment for the students.
• Maintain effective, on-going communication with the Lead Instructor (and/or Director of Nursing
Programs if appropriate) concerning student progress and/or concerns.
• Attend all course team meetings.
• Arrange and complete an orientation with the clinical site unit manager to learn the assigned clinical
unit and meet the mandatory requirements of the clinical site.
• Attend meetings required by the Dean, Vice Dean, department head as necessary.
• Contribute ideas and energies to cooperate and actively participate as a team member with colleagues
in carrying out activities of the department.
• Continuously improve teaching effectiveness through professional growth.
PRACTICAL EXPERIANCES
 Use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, Implementation and evaluation) when providing direct
client care and developing programs and services.
 Independently manage a group of patients within the Unit whilst working as part of the
multidisciplinary team, delivering individualized and personalized direct patient care Demonstrate
appropriate practice and specialist advice in the assessment, planning, implementation and
evaluation of patients requiring ventilation. This includes familiarity with NIV and tracheostomy
care, history taking, physical examination and the requesting and analysis of agreed diagnostic
procedures/clinical investigations such as O2 and CO2 monitoring and blood gases.
 Responsible for the correct administration of prescribed medication including transfusion of blood and
blood products Assisting and performing these procedures in ICU Airway Adjusts, Resuscitation,
IV insertion, Urinary catheterization, & ECG and its interpretation ' chest tube insertion '
Mechanical ventilator operation and /or adjustment ' wound care under aseptic technique etc..
 Act as an advocate for patients, Provide leadership, support and guidance to staff in monitoring the
planning delivery and evaluation of individualized care Plans, Coordinate, and Supervise and
evaluate nursing care activities in accordance with patient needs and skill level of personnel.
 Demonstrates leadership and priority setting skills in the coordination of administrative and patient
care responsibilities for assigned shift Communicate with other members of the health care team
regarding the client's health care to Recognizing and anticipates problems and needs of ICU Nursing
unit including nursing staff and patients for appropriate intervention. Providing direction to the staff
and assists them in the execution of their responsibilities.
 Be wholly accountable for his / her practice in line with the professional conduct and takes every
reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve her knowledge.
