a) Since Dec 2014 till date :
I am currently associated with Steel Mont Pvt Ltd as Business Head – Steel Trading and based out of Mumbai and
responsible for steel trading of the Group.
STEEL MONT GROUP as a global trading entity established in 1993 having offices and appointed representatives in UK,
UKRAINE, RUSSIA, ITALY, GERMANY, DUBAI UAE, CHINA, TURKEY and in INDIA. The annual turnover of STEEL MONT is
over US$ 500 Millions and we are handling annual volumes of around 1.0 million tonnes.
In the Steel Division, We currently source products directly from Mills and producers in Russia, Brazil, Ukraine, China,
India, Korea and from Europe for buyers across the globe including in India, Middle East, South East Asia and Europe
based conglomerates. We deal in products like HR Slabs, Billets, Rounds, Angles, Channels, Beams. HR Plates / Sheets, HR
Coils, CR, GP, etc. Our clientale ranges from Global Steel majors, Steel Mills, End users and traders in Domestic and
International markets.
We are currently targeting value added focussed segments like Wind Mill Tower segment, Line Pipes, PEB, Alloy Steel
plates and also working on various projects with BHEL, GAIL, BPCL, KIOCL etc. Also targeting overseas markets in
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka for Pig Iron, Billets, DRI etc.
2. b) Since June 2013 up to Oct 2014 :
I was working with Jindal Steel & Power Ltd as Vice President (Sales & Marketing) and based out of Mumbai
and responsible as Product Manager (Plates & Coils) for developing the Product Marketing Strategy,
Coordination with Plant and pricing decisions.
I am involved in developing value propositions for different customer segments, Define marketing strategy for
respective product strategies across geographies, review order book position and highlight customer / region focus
for marketing, customer meetings to communicate product quality and attributes.
I am also involved in close coordination with plant to provide inputs for orders priority for production planning,
evaluate acceptance of urgent orders and close monitoring of order books and give delivery commitments.
Further, with close interface with market and customers, I am involved in deciding on the competitive pricing,
develop price list and pricing structure for various product categories.
I am involved in developing the marketing strategy for the new Angul plate mill and responsible for JSPL to become
leading plates supplier to Wind Tower segment with a major market share. Besides, I was involved closely to get the
Angul plate mill approved by Bechtel / Petronas/ Arabian Pipes / NPCC / PETROFAC etc for the Line Pipes and
segment.
Finally I was responsible for over 0.80 million mts Plates & Coils during FY 13 – 14 and with a target of over 1.0
million mts during FY 14-15.
c) Since Oct 2008 – March 2013 :
I was working with Welspun Corp Ltd, Mumbai as Sr. Vice President (Marketing) for Plate & Coil Mill Division and
responsible for overall Sales, Marketing & Business Development activities for Plates & Coils and directly reporting to the
Director (Sales & Marketing).
Welspun have started manufacturing Plates as a backward integration to their Pipes Business and the commercial
production started from May 08 onwards and I have been involved in the Marketing & Business Development Activities
from almost since inception.
During the last one year we have been instrumental in obtaining good business from Export Markets for API Grade
plates from Iran, Venezuela and Middle East to the tune of 120,000 mts at very good Price Realisation.
In Domestic Market, have been quite successful in developing all major customers in Construction, Fabrication, Pipes,
Wind Mill Towers, Power and have taken large orders from customers like HCC, JMC, Suzlon, Thermax, Reliance,
L & T, Essar Etc to name a few.
I was also coordinating the entire marketing activity for our Internal Customer – Welspun Pipe Mill, which is a
single major customer accounting for nearly 35% of the business for Plates.
Have also been able to obtain PQ Approvals from major companies like BHEL, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL and also
registrations with BIS, ABS, DNV, LLOYDS, GL Etc.
3. In my capacity, I was also responsible for preparation of Budgets, Monthly Review Meetings, Pricing, Production
Plans, Raw Materials, Despatches and Finally the Receivables and also have to travel extensively.
We have also developed the Retail side of the business by establishing our own Consignment Agents in various cities like
Mumbai, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Ludhiana, Bhopal, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune Etc.
Further, I was also successful in developing Siemens Denmark for supply of Wind Tower Plates and signed a 30,000 mts
contract with them.
d) May 2005 – July 2006
Since 3rd
May 2005, I was working as `General Manager – Exports with M/s Global Steel Philippines Inc, based at
Manila, Philippines and reporting directly to President (Marketing). I was looking after the entire Exports Marketing
of the company to China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Turkey, other European countries etc. . The
total Export Sales figures for Global Steel Philippines are currently around 30,000 mts/mth and generating total
revenue figures of around US$ 20.00 millions/mth.
Global Steel Philippines is a part of the ISPAT Group of India and which was erstwhile National Steel Corpn (which
was closed down since 1998) and was aquired during 2004 from the Philippines Govt. The Plant has since been
rehabilitated and the CRM operations and the HSM, Plate Mill have started. The Tin Plate mill which also form part
of the aquired assets are under various stages of Rehab and plans are there to start these shortly depending on
generation / availability of Funds.
I was personally involved in developing the Vietnam market where I was posted for 6 weeks directly and which I visited
thoroughly and today it is our biggest Market after China with sales figures for CRFH/CRCA products touching 15,000
mts/mth. I am also closely involved in guiding and developing the Indonesia, Thailand & Malaysian markets working
closely with our Local country representatives.
I was also involved in the preparation of the Budgets and the Monthly Business plans and other MIS documents,
Daily reports etc and also in the Plant Coordination and Pricing Committee meetings which are held at regular
intervals.
Further, I was also involved in development of new markets in India, Africa, Eastern Russia, Myanmar, Bangladesh
and also USA & South America where we are trying to sell our products through our direct contacts and also through
various International Steel trading houses.Further, I am also involved in New Product Developments like Value
Added DD/EDD Grade CRCA, Corten Steel, LPG Grade HR.
e) Since Aug 2006 – Oct 2008.
Was transferred to India with the Global Steel Group as Vice President (Exports Marketing) with Global Steel
Holdings Ltd (Premier Supplies & Services Ltd) operating out of Mumbai. I was responsible for Exports of Global
Steel Philippines range of products to other than the neighbouring Philippines Markets. The regions being concentrated
are Europe (Turkey, Italy & Spain), Africa ( Sudan, Ethiopia, Egypt, Nigeria), South America ( Brazil, Mexico,
Guatemala), Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia) besides India & Nepal.
4. I have been successful in developing the above markets and taking some big orders which have since been serviced also.
Further, I was visiting Philippines very often for regular meetings at GSPI Philippines Plant and also for customers visits
and meetings.
f) Jan 2002 2002 – May 2005 Since 1st
Jan 2002 I was working as Manager – Projects with Bahwan
Trading Company LLC, Muscat in their Projects &
Telecoms Divn and looking after Various types of EPC
Projects to Petroleum Development Oman LLC, Oman
Refinery Co, Ministry Of Defence, Other Ministries,
Various Consultants and Contractors.
g) 1998- 2001 : Since June1998 till Nov 2001, I was working as “Dy.
General Manager (MKTG)” with M/s. JINDAL IRON &
STEEL CO. LTD.(Jisco), MUMBAI and responsible for
“ALL INDIA MKTG” of “COLD ROLLED AND GALVANISED
PRODUCTS for the OEM Sector.
The major Customers handled include Bajaj Auto, Kinetic
Motors, Whirlpool, Honda Motors, JBML, Bajaj Tempo,
IFB, Amtrex Hitachi etc..
h) 1992 - 95 : M/S. TECHNICAL OILFIELD SUPPLIES
