McConnell Dowell – Aveng Rail Joint Venture (Aus$150 million or R1,425 billion)
Site Engineer – February 2012 to October 2013
The FMG T155 Rail Expansion Project involved the construction of 140km new railway line which links
the Solomon mine with FMG’s mainline, a total of 120km of duplicated rail of the mainline and the
installation of 84 turnouts from Port Hedland to Christmas Creek mine and Solomon mine. It also
included the installation of numerous level crossings of which two of them were crossing through
national highways and constructing the railway over a rail over rail bridge (BHP) and three other
bridges. Working on the FMG T155 Rail Expansion Project involved moving to any of FMG’s eight rail
construction camps at any given time depending on where the work front was.
