growth of human resources by generating skilled
manpower, enhancing industrial productivity & the
quality of life.
• The main aim is to specializes the students & skilled
labor & technically fit in the industries.
• To create good opportunity for carriers &
employment
• To regenerate the human society instead of bare
hands with machines and technological devices.
IMPORTANCE OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION
•The Technical Education stands unique with its practical
approaches and technical knowledge as compared to other
education system.
• It contributes a major role to the overall education system
and plays a vital role in the social and economic
development of our nation .
• In India, technical education is important at various levels
such as: industrial training institute, diploma, and degree,
post-graduate and research in specialized technical fields,
accommodating to various aspects of technological
development and economic progress.
•Technical Education covers programs in engineering,
technology, management, architecture, urban planning,
pharmacy, applied arts and crafts, management of hotels
and catering etc.
LATEST CHALLENGES TO THE TECHNICAL
EDUCATION
• Aim to link academic knowledge to practical
experience.
• There by leading to a better understanding of
their own abilities.
• Talents and reduced performance gap
•Career goal
• To develop the quality education is one of the
major responsibilities of education system and
it’s curriculum
TECHNICAL EDUCATION IN INDIA
• India has one of the largest education system in the
world because the nation has
 more than 1.5 millions schools
 with more than 260 millions student enrolled
around 751 Universities
 35539 colleges and
 also one of the most complex.
• According to the NCF(National Curriculum
Framework) states: “ Learning has become a source
of burden & stress on children and their parents is an
evidence of a deep distortion in educational aims and
quality”.
OPPORTUNITIES & THREATS ON INDIAN
TECHNICAL EDUCATION SYSTEM
Opportunities
• IT Tools are becoming
available for technology
enhanced living
• Networking of
colleges & Universities ,
MOU’s with foreign
Universities at different
level of mental benefits
sharing for resources &
undertaking major
projects.
Threats
• Quality concerns
need to be addressed
urgently
• Competitions from
International
standards
• Poor IT skills in
Indian students
•Lack of interest
among the youth to
pursue science as a
career
PRESENT SCENARIO OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION
& EMPLOYMENT ORGANIZATION IN ODISHA
Department of Skill Development and Technical
Education Govt. of Odisha. Under the Directorate of
Employment, Odisha
80- offices are functioning at different levels.
30- Dist. Employment Exchanges,

CURRENT STATUS OF EDUCATION
1. Most Indian institutions have not effectively evolved from
under-graduate teaching institutions to teaching and
research institutions.
2. Private engineering institutes has adopted a unique and
innovative industry-linked engineering education and
training system .
3. Strategic plans, policies and programmes for
implementation as per the eleventh-five year plan for
higher and technical education .
4. Vocational Education which deals practically in the field
of trade, commerce, agriculture, medicine & Engineering.
5. The technical education produces technicians for all type
of industries and the progress of a country much depend
upon its Industrialization
CURRENT ACTION PLANS FOR INDIA
1. Our courses of study should provide a large space
for technical subjects.
2. Now schools are being opened for them; Old
schools should be forced to change their bias.
3. Higher emphasis on language and literature should
be changed by emphasizing science.
4. government is sponsoring multi-purpose schools
5. boards and councils have opened separate
business streams and disciplines
6. Industrialists can be forced to retain business and
technical schools associated with their firms or
workshops
PROS OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION

learners.
4) Waste of valuable time.
5) Misguided by the wrong methods.
6) Major sources of distractions.
7) Creating enough room for cheating.
8) Increase rate of cyber bullying.
PROBLEMS FACED BY THE CURRENT
TECHNICAL EDUCATION SYSTEM
1. Unsuitable Technical Curriculum
2. Shortage of Vocational and Quality Technical Institutions
3. Shortage of Teachers & Exports
4. Lack of Good Administrators
5. Problem of Practical Field Work and Laboratories
6. Plagiarised Research Work (Les Innovative Ideas)
7. Provision of Education and Development of Technician’s
skill & Personality
8. Co-operation between Government, Industry and
Educational Institutions
STEPS TO BE TAKEN CARE FOR
IMPROVEMENT
1. Training Policy for Technical Teachers
2. Perspective Plan for Technical Education
3. Induction Programme for Engineering students
4. Model Curriculum for Engineering and
Management Courses.
5. Exam Reforms
6. Start up Initiative
7. NBA Accreditation for approval of technical courses
8. Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.
OTHER STEPS CAN BE TAKEN CARE FOR
IMPROVEMENT
1. Management of the technical education system
2. Programmes and curriculum development
3. Inputs on collaboration on engineering
education
4. Involvement in high-technology in emerging
areas:
5. Utilizing engineering institutions for innovation
entrepreneurship
6. Taking additional measures towards improving
quality of teaching, learning in engineering
NEEDS AND EXPECTATION
1. Employer :- Immediate application of
knowledge and skills acquired
2. Students:- Both immediate employment a long
term employability
3. Parents:- Prosperous careers for their wards
4. Faculty:- Effective learning by students
SUGGESTIONS TO UPDATE CURRICULUM

4. Inter college & Universities tie-ups
5. Global Inter college competitions
6. Industry academia interaction with
colleges
7. Introduction to ICT & interactive learning
through IT.
8. More numbers of Workshops, FDPs with
hands on practices, National and
International Conferences should be
encouraged.
REQUIREMENTS FOR FURTHER TECHNICAL
EDUCATION
• Practical & Project based teaching should be
implemented
•Quality must be focused instead of quantity
•Provide knowledge rather than the degree
•Concentrate on skills
•Focused on multimedia applications
•Life long learning like video audio presentation with
customized content
•Active & passive participation
•Collaborate , share & influence government policy
CONCLUSION
• The process of teaching learning focuses great attention
on theory rather than developing professional skills like:
thinking, independent study, problem solving, creativity,
interpersonal and communication skills etc.
•The way to provide generous ideas is to be change
•Majority of students are still not proficient in making use of
computers for various engineering applications.
•The system of examination in pen, paper pencil type,
stressing on learning and need to be change.
• Hardly any effect of recommendations made by various
seminars, conferences for improving technical education
system in the country due to lack of concern, lethargy,
initiative and accountability.
