Cultures and People of The World Essay
The people of the world speak approximately 250 different languages across countries; they dress in different ways and eat different foods. Societies
share basic institutions such as government, the educational system and religious institutions. Therefore, culture is a learned system of shared beliefs
and habits of doing activities that guide a person`s daily behavior.
In this essay, I will be comparing the cultural dimensions of Japanese culture with that of the culture of my country, India. I will be comparing the four
cultural dimensions of the Power Distance, Uncertainty Avoidance, Long–Term Orientation (LTO)/Short
–Term Orientation (STO) and Masculinity
/ Femininity between these countries.
Power Distance Index(PDI)

Indians adjust and they do not feel uncomfortable or the need to take actions when uncertainty occurs. Japan scores 92, as it is the highest uncertainty
avoiding country. Japan is always threatened by natural disasters; hence they learned to prepare themselves against unexpected situations. They follow
strict laws and procedures and have a strong sense of nationalism. Even in business, managers prefer facts and figures before making decisions.
Long–Term Orientation(LTO)/Short–Term Orientation(STO)
This dimension relates to the fact that how people need to realize not everything that happens around us can be explained. In societies with LTO,
people believe an explanation is not required as it is complicated to understand the intricacy of life. In societies with STO, people have a keen desire
to explain everything. India scores 51, in preference towards long term culture. In India, religious and philosophical thoughts are ruled by 'karma'.
They favor religious thoughts because the nations dominate religion; Hinduism is more of a philosophy of ideas, views and mysterious beliefs. Japan
scores 88, one of the highest long–term oriented society. They believe in 'doing the best in one`s lifetime' and are guided by those virtues. Even
Managers are future oriented and strive for long term goals and value investments.
Masculinity/ Femininity
This dimension measures gender in a culture and the distribution of roles

THOSE PEOPLE NEXT DOOR * AG Gardiner Points to Ponder NOTE: Read the text thoroughly. These notes have been prepared in helping you to
have a better understanding of the text. Reading the text is a must for the terminal examination We seldom know our neighbors. London city has its
inhabitants and people are busy with their domestic chores. Thus people often cohabit as virtual strangers showing the least interest in knowing their
neighbors. This trait as mentioned by A.G. Gardiner is being increasingly noticeable in modern towns and cities in all parts of the world. The
ignorance to know people who live next door is a trait which is increasingly shared by city dwellers. The only sound is the noise generated by the fire

Reading the text is a must for the terminal examination According to Bertrand Russell if it is important to deduce matters; we must abide by the
tenets of observation. The observation of matters and things must be undertaken by us and us alone. We must not believe others blindly. All
evidence needs to be tested for its credibility and validity. Thinking that a person knows things whereas in reality to remain ignorant of men and
matters comes in the way of our deduction and findings. Russell has given us the example of Aristotle in a jocular manner stating that the best
way for him to account for human teeth is to count them. Similarly if one is interested in knowing about the life of 'hedgehogs', then the
appropriate course of action would be to find our more details about the animal by way of personal observation which can lead to appropriate
deductions. There are however issues on which we have our passionate convictions.. In many such cases we remain oblivious of our personal bias.
Thus we become angry or frustrated when we have to face an opinion contrary to our beliefs (Say for example if we meet an atheist and the opinion
given by the atheist makes us angry) The writer has quoted if someone believes that two and two are five, or Iceland is on the equator we tend to feel
more of pity than anger. Persecution is used in theology (it means cruel treatment that is meted out to someone

Clash Of Cultures
There are a lot of people around Belmont University with different concepts, different goals, different experiences, different cultures, but most
important, different methods of thinking. When I realized that I would need to write a profile of someone else, I thought it would be the easiest essay
that I have ever done. Contrary to my expectations, I realized that to write someone else's profile is kind of hard, because it is not only a simple thing
such as just write the entire life of the person. A lot of stuff is behind the profile of a person. When I first thought about who I should interview, I was
kind of lost, because I do not know a lot of people...show more content...
The guy that I am talking about is Andrew Gordon Conner, who has born on august 8 1992, and he is the person that organize my hall, and needs to
maintain the organization, like a security, known here in the U.S as R.A. I knew that he was a different guy with a lot of experiences for me to know,
but actually he was way more than that.
Andrew was born at Bangkok, Thailand. At the time he told me that, I became so interest to know about theculture, and all the differences between
there and here. The most interesting thing about Andrew is that he has already lived in few different places and knows a lot of different cultures.
He lived there in Bangkok until his six years old, and he had a good life there. He was used to live in a property where his family was the only
white family in the whole building, what for me, I think it would be kind of scary, but according to him, it was kind of normal for him and his
parents. His dad was used to work for a company back in Bangkok that when Andrew was six, the company changed place to Arizona, United States.
With six years, he had already challenged the difficulties of change home to another country, and especially the big change of culture.
Andrew was lucky to move when he was only six, because whenever you have more then ten years and had already made a lot of friends, and had
already gone to school, it would be much harder to get used to

Essay on The Essence of a Human Being
I have never pondered on such a question that reflects the whole human race and what it means to be a human being. What it means to be a human
being is not just having a face, eyes, heart, or being able to drive a car, or to own a house. Being a human being is much more than that, deeper and
more passionate. Being a human being is to have the ability to know what is right and wrong, having rational thought and to think deeply beyond the
tangible things in the world, and being a human being is to find love. Yet as I think deeply into this more and more, I see that those things are not as
important to be a human being, simply because you can live without those things; but to really live and thrive and build a race and society, being a

We all meet different people each day, and we all learn from their life and values. This is one way of sharing a relationship. A person that you do not
know may come up to you tomorrow and talk to you. Without relationships, a conversation will end surprisingly fast, and the two would not know
each other and become distant. Having relationship does not always mean having to know a person. For example, if a Vietnamese and Chinese person
talked, what relationships do they confront? Chinese and Vietnamese have a very long and historic relationship. They have the same holiday, same
religions, and same ethic and morals. If the Vietnamese person talked about their family, how does the Chinese person relate to this? Well, they both
know that in their countries, family is the most important and strongest thing a person has. Respect is the key in the family, because without this, there
is chaos. The Chinese and Vietnamese may not know each other, but because of relationships that went on since the dawn of time, they both know
what to say, what to do, and how to do it when they meet and talk. Because of relationships, we can know the traditions and customs of different
people from different backgrounds. We share the same idea and similar beliefs around the world; without relating to one another, everyone would not
be the same, we all would keep to ourselves and not share our ideas. Without relationships, humans would be almost non–existing. In the lifetime

Disabilities : People With Disabilities Essay
People with Disabilities
In 2012, the U.S. Census Bureau released a report that approximately 1 in every 5 Americans has a disability, which translated into almost 56.7
million people (U.S. Census Bureau, 2012). Moreover, more than half of that population was severely disabled. However, many disabled people are
stigmatized and excluded from everyday activities, do not receive the required disability–related services, and are not accorded equal access to
employment opportunities, education, and health care. Despite the treatment people with disabilities get from other people, disability has been
recognized as a human rights issue. It also proves that people with disabilities increasingly lead poor lives and experience poor socio–economic
outcomes than other people.
Since disability is a human condition, the majority of the people in the world will at some point in their lives experience a permanent or temporary
impairment, especially when they grow old. Disability is contested, multidimensional, dynamic, and complex and thus refers to difficulties persons
encounter in the body functioning, socially, physically, and mentally. It is the term used to refer to participation restrictions, activity limitations, and
physical impairments when the disabled persons interact with their contextual factors. One of the impairments afflicting people is mental retardation,
which results in social, physical, speech, and learning disabilities. Mental retardation is

Essay on "Good People"
Good People What does it mean to be a good person? How can one respect oneself without hurting others? Are we able to judge whether a decision
is wrong or right? Do we really know what love is? ... Questions like these have always existed, but what happens when an author tries to
comprehend the complexity of being 'good people'? Is it possible to write about an issue like this? In David Foster Wallace's short story "Good
People" from 2007 we experience an attempt to do so. In the short story "Good People" Wallace manages to reflect upon the complex discussion of
what 'good people' are, as this is the main theme of the text. To discuss this the story revolves around supporting themes of religious, existentialistic and

The strongly placed point of view creates a characteristic voice in the story. The voice ultimately reminds one of a 'stream of consciousness'–technique,
which influences the story in general. The element of changing appellations stresses how the two kinds of processes are going on in the story; the
associating way of reflecting along with the developing state of mind. The different use of how the main character titles himself from "Lane A. Dean,
Jr. ... Lane Dean, Jr. ... Lane Dean ... Lane"5 shows how he is mentally changing back and forth, emphasizing this circularly and non–linear reflection.
On the other hand the naming of Lane's girlfriend, Sheri, shows a linear development from "his girlfriend ... the girl ... she ... Sheri ... Sheri Fisher"6.
The way in which the girlfriend is named gives an impression of how the main character is developing his view of the girlfriend throughout the story.
From an anonymous approach, 'the girl', to actually addressing her by her full name "Sheri Fisher", This use of the narrative technique creates a stream
of consciousness and creates an associating but yet authentic feeling – a feeling that enlightens the complex main theme of the story. The construction
of the characters and their relation is also important to the perception of the story. Given the fact that the story is told from the perspective of Lane, it
is interesting that Sheri's character is described in a flat and static way. The author makes a

Essay on Happiness and People
Psychologists have not located assured causes that lead people to well–being. David G. Myers in his article "The Funds, Friends, and Faith of Happy
People" published in the American Psychologist (2000) and Michael Wiederman in "Why It's So Hard to Be Happy" published in the Scientific
American Mind (2007), discuss the reasons which lead people to be happy, and the factors which contribute to unhappiness. Both authors concur that
two factors that might escort people to satisfaction are relationships and personality. Myers mentions that a correlation, such as need to belong,
marriage, and a friend, lead people to happiness since humans share their feelings with each other even if it is negative feelings. As a result, they keep

On the other hand, people who don't experience flow are not fully engaged in their present time which leads them to be unhappy and depressed
because they are worried about the future, or they are feeling too dreadful about the past. The result of that is that flow becomes one of the elements
that makes people satisfied. However, Myers and Wiederman also consent that wealth, achievement, and one aspect of inheritance, little voice, might
be obstacles to achieve happiness. Myers writes that money cannot buy happiness or bring it. Although people in poor countries are less happy than
people in rich countries, some rich people are not as satisfied as regular people in the same country, and some of them don't know happiness, whereas
a few of them are happy because they know how to gain it and how to spend it. Also, he compares people in the past and the present in the U.S. He
concludes that Americans in the past seems happier than Americans now though the economy has been increasing, so wealth cannot escort satisfaction.
According to Wiederman, accomplishment also may not lead to well–being since people whose goal is money will not be happy. That is because after
achieving their goal, they will compare themselves with those who are richer than them. Then despondency will be their feelings. Moreover, if their
goal is not money, and they are strong–linkers, another two situations may occur. He discusses that strong–linkers

Speech On People With Disabilities
Approximately 15% of the world's population is, in a way, disabled. Whether it is a physical disability or a serious chronic disease, we have about
one billion people in the world that live with a disability every day of their lives. It often occurs that these people are seen as an outcast of society;
people that cannot live normal lives. It is important to realize that this is not true at all. People with disabilities are completely able to be part of the
world. It is just the world's duty to accept them.
Discrimination against disabled people occurs on a daily basis. People living without limitations or without disabled loved ones, often do not

They say people are scared of change, and you can clearly see this when it comes to people with disabilities. Many schools, companies, and associations
refuse to let disabled people be a part of them. Once again, they say these people are not capable of taking care of their disability. Most people with
disabilities have been trained to properly handle their limitation and take care of themselves. They have lived with this for quite a time and they
are completely capable of looking after their health. Although some disabilities require extra care and assistance, I think it is wrong to not give
them the job if they are fully qualified and able to do the work. I am aware of schools in my city that refuses do take disabled people of any kind,
because they say they don't want people that are not "normal". Further, there are schools that do accept disabled people, but even if you are able to,
you are not allowed to do sport or any physical activity at school. Part of this, is the fact that people think if they cannot see your disability, you do
not have it. Not all disabilities are physical, but rather a serious chronic disease. Some places offer special care for disabled people, for example, a
fridge to keep your medicine or extra time in an exam if something goes wrong. There are many people that say you are abusing the system. I
experienced something very similar, where I took a

We have also learned some about the different places and events around here, so it should help us out when we get a job here for a while. Overall,
we are enjoying our stay here, and we can't wait to get our camper fixed. As I mentioned, we have met many interesting people at our stay in the Little

days. As you can see they have helped us out a great deal here and we are very thankful and one day we will try to repay them for their help. The
people around here have been extremely helpful and friendly. One thing I have noticed is they offer to drive you around if you need to go from
place to place, and you don't have a vehicle. On one of our trips, I discovered they have a event, a cow rodeo. They have many cow statue things
around Rock Springs, its for this event. So if you go there its pretty random to see at first, however this place is out in the West. It its pretty interesting
to see different places around Little America. There are many interesting places

Human Personality Essay
A quote that I live by is, "People don't always behave the way you want them to, but it doesn't mean the way they behave is wrong." This says to me
that I cannot change anyone because I do not understand or like the way someone does something. Trying to do this is trying to change one's human
personality. Human personality is what makes a person distinctive, unique, and exceptional. Every person has a different personality and some
personalities mesh better than others. Human personality should always be praised and no one should ever put anyone down for having a different
personality. It is truly just allowing people to be who they are unless they are in violation of other human's rights. Just as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Examples of laws like this would be: wearing a seat belt, the possession of guns, the right to abortion, and the ability to buy alcohol on Sundays.
These types of laws are there because someone else says that it is wrong to do these things. Trying to prevent supposedly wrong things from
happening seems like good intent but is actually unjust. An example of this is seat belt laws that try to prevent anyone from getting seriously hurt in
the event of a car accident. But if the driver or their passengers do not want to buckle up why should the law force them. It may seem strange for
some people to not want to wear their seat belt but it is just because they have a different personality. The only just laws are the ones that punish those
that actually degrade someone's human personality. Rape, murder, robbery, and fraud are all examples of this. When someone rapes another they are
taking away their free will to do whatever they choose. And those who commit that crime should be punished. But to create laws to prevent rapes from
occurring is unjust. These types of laws assume that people will do wrong and that their human personality is wrong. People have the right to do
whatever they please whether it is moral or not and they deserve the consequences of their actions. In conclusion, human personality is the essential
character of a human being. It is not clear what uplifts and what degrades human personality because it is human nature to

Descriptive Essay On People In Life
There are some people in life, that inspire you, while others can make it more exciting. But, there are a few that can do both. Inspiration is the
process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative. The people you meet or see in life that can do
both seem to influence your very own decisions. They produce unwavering emotions and never seem to concede. These people are the true
exemplars of the aphorism, "You only live once." These people know how to fight for their lives, or hold back their emotions for the greater good of
others. Shannon Cummings, Rick Porcello, and Devin/Jason Mccourty are my illustrations of people that live life to the fullest and try to help others
that aren't able to do the same on their own. They are honest when they need to be, but they know when to tell a white lie to keep from hurting others.
These people are philanthropists, donating their time, money, or energy to help others. They are people that are stoic, keeping their emotions to
themselves when they are down, which allows others to do the same. Some of them are underdogs in their areas of expertise, but they defy
expectations regularly. They are people that overcome many challenges in their way throughout life. These people share the same characteristics as
many others in the world, but it is how they use them that makes them extraordinary. It's not the hand you're dealt that wins the game, it's how you play

Personal Essay: Care For Others
Care for others. The way this will help you achieve happiness is that when you help others it gives you a warm feeling inside. It makes you feel as if
you have done something right. This feeling is almost unexplainable. Helping others is one of the best things you can do. For example, when you
complement someone the best feeling is when you see the look on that persons face and see how happy you made them. Also, if you do not care for
others you will live a lonely life. Without care for others no one will want to be around you. So, if you care for others you will have a joyous life.

were meant for something, as if it was calling you. If you love what you do the there is no possible way to be sad or upset. Your life will be filled with
joy and love because every day you get to wake up and do something that truly makes you happy.
Stay in a joyous mood. If you are always in a good mood and spreading joy, there is no way to be negative. You will always be looking on the bright
side seeing how fortunate you are. This will keep a smile on your face showing that you are truly happy. Also, help others around you to be in a good
mood. This will help you connect with others.
Learn to forgive quickly. This will make it where you are unable to hold a grudge. If you stay mad at a person you might regret it because you
never know the last day you will see them. You are also just wasting valuable joyous time that you could be having with this person in your life. Try
to always be on good terms with people. Never go to bed angry and think on the positive side of life. This will make your relationships

Being Human Essay
The age old question of what it means to be human can be answered through many viewpoints. There are several specie specific qualities that
differentiate humans from any other creature, but with that being said, humans are often compared and contrasted with animals and machines. Some of
these specific qualities are the ability to interpret, free will, and the use of language, but what does it really mean to be human?
Everything created has specie specific qualities. Human beings are closely linked to animals because of the similarities of these specie specific
qualities, but these alone do not make humans animals or animals humans. While there are quite a few characteristics that are similar there are

In the book of Genesis when it speaks of man being made in the image of God, what is seen is that just as God created the earth, we can give form to
the formless. We can make a date with another, and we can plan to do something at a certain time. Humans unlike any other creature can describe an
exciting experience, or tell a scary story. Through speech we can say, "I don't know," which is the first step to gaining understanding and knowledge.
Humans are more than just mere creatures of nature because of the art of remembering, recalling, and through language either written or spoken.
Aside from the biological image, humans have also been seen to be like a machine. The mechanical image started when there was a boom in
technology; around the time robots came about. Some say that man is like a machine in the sense that man is a complex system behaving in lawful
ways. Because of physics, it is a known fact that all things have their own distinct features according to a finite number of fixed laws. Everything
happens according to strict forces controlled by the universe. So humans, like machines are programmed by a higher being. While everything does have

Essay on Indigenous People
What does the future hold for the indigenous peoples around the world? There is no clear answer, to this question. Each and every government must

Secondly, nations like the United States and Austria that have in the past shown nation pride of their indigenous peoples, on the worldwide stage,
could promote the agenda of indigenous peoples. In Austria, there are many famous athletes like Benn Harradine, a discus thrower who holds the
record his native country. In the 2000 Olympics, Cathy Freeman, a track and field star, won the 400 meter track event to capture worldwide notoriety
for the indigenous peoples of Austria. In the United States, the American Indians are not often seen as celebrities. Perhaps, if American Indians were
given the same celebrity status as their counter parts in the industry of acting there would be someone to promote their cause. Whatever the case
maybe there is a need to have a cheerleader a drum major to promote cause and the political agenda for indigenous peoples on the nation stage. Just as
Martin Luther King Jr., a civil rights leader of the 1960's, promoted the injustice to African–Americans that lead to the civil rights movement;
indigenous peoples need to organize in the same way.
Clearly, education has to be the main focus for all people, not only indigenous people, but for all people. However, indigenous peoples need to become

Essay on Negative People and Negative Energy
In order to find success, both professionally and personally, people often have to navigate through uncomfortable situations. One of the most
uncomfortable situations we may have to go through in life is dealing with negative people. While they may be difficult and awkward to handle,
negative people are common in all walks of life and all lines of business. Here are 5 tips that can help turn a negative relationship into a positive one:
Leadership_blog_–_619px 1. Don't Feed Arguments Many negative people feed off of negative energy; that is, they like to argue. Most people know
at least one person who appears to truly enjoy arguing. While healthy debate and constructive criticism is important to personal development, there is a

4. Empathize Empathy is an important skill for those working in a professional setting, such as psychology or social work. Those who seek out such
working environments are generally empathetic souls; however, they may come in contact with truly negative people. To understand a negative person
and diffuse the situation it is best to empathize with them first and foremost. If a person can understand why a person is negative, they can take steps
to help them better their attitude. Knowledge is power, and knowledge, in this case, comes in the form of empathy. 5. Look for the Positive Negative
people are often down on themselves and suffer from low self–esteem. Because of this, they find it difficult to acknowledge the things they are good at.
Looking for the positive, noting it, and complimenting the person for it can be a great way to break down barriers and get the negative person to think
more positively. For example, a negative person might be terrible at communicating with co–workers, but he or she may be a great organizer. Make
note of that, and compliment the negative person on their organizational skills. Knowing someone noticed something good about them may help to
wash away those negative thoughts, even if just for a moment. Dealing with negative people can be a true detriment to one's success, but it doesn't have
to be. In fact, dealing with negative

Who would you like to sit before you today, what is your pleasure? I assure you, look at me in different light because I can be whatever you want. I
belong to a society populated by chameleons: people who constantly change personalities to appease their company. I call this morphing ability the
chameleon–complex, in which there are two degrees: the complete chameleon and the partial chameleon. Which are we? This is a personal awareness
many do not care to reach. In fact, most would rather swallow glass. But, after we make this realization, we look for someone or something to blame
(could it be the media, peer pressure, or even our parents?!).
After stammering through this process, the issue becomes: how deep are we buried beneath the...show more content...
I have honed the partial chameleon–complex, which is a skill I am quite proud of. But don't misunderstand, my complex is merely a facet of my
personality. I encompass everything you hear about in popular songs on the radio. I am a distinct individual with a unique purpose, yet at the same
time I have a deep need to belong while bringing laughs and smiles to the lips of everyone I know, regardless of my own emotions. I have torn myself
down merely to be rebuilt and rebuilt myself merely to be torn down.
Numerous time I have "remodeled" my personality for others, all the while trying to be everyone's everything. More often than not this led to
disappointment and discouragement when I was rejected by the very individuals I wished to please. I am still covered in packaging, but personal
freedom is real to me. Pieces of my personality shine through gaps in the paper. I have found people develop concepts of me, and no matter what I do
they will always be there. I've come to accept and use these to identify myself. And if you conceptualize me, your perception will transform me into
anyone you want. At the other end of the spectrum lies the complete chameleon: individuals anticipating the next request from their most popular
patron. The personalities which are requested become companions. Lost in the abyss of packaging cultivated over they years, complex chameleons
struggle for personal freedom. Genuiness doesn't exist in such a

My Personal Identity Essay
A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that
tend to help shape a person's identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a
person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a person's sense of responsibilities,
ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a person's
taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet...show more

Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing,
attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music' is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life
off of adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects
of my individuality reflect that very well. I love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be on a
dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some
are also partly my own. My morals mostly consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering (especially in
nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong
family ties. I feel that I am very strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that, although some people
just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational
experiences also tend to influence a person's identity. I have not had too many educational

Cultures And People Of The World Essay

  • 1. Cultures and People of The World Essay The people of the world speak approximately 250 different languages across countries; they dress in different ways and eat different foods. Societies share basic institutions such as government, the educational system and religious institutions. Therefore, culture is a learned system of shared beliefs and habits of doing activities that guide a person`s daily behavior. In this essay, I will be comparing the cultural dimensions of Japanese culture with that of the culture of my country, India. I will be comparing the four cultural dimensions of the Power Distance, Uncertainty Avoidance, Long–Term Orientation (LTO)/Short –Term Orientation (STO) and Masculinity / Femininity between these countries. Power Distance Index(PDI) This dimension...show more content... Indians adjust and they do not feel uncomfortable or the need to take actions when uncertainty occurs. Japan scores 92, as it is the highest uncertainty avoiding country. Japan is always threatened by natural disasters; hence they learned to prepare themselves against unexpected situations. They follow strict laws and procedures and have a strong sense of nationalism. Even in business, managers prefer facts and figures before making decisions. Long–Term Orientation(LTO)/Short–Term Orientation(STO) This dimension relates to the fact that how people need to realize not everything that happens around us can be explained. In societies with LTO, people believe an explanation is not required as it is complicated to understand the intricacy of life. In societies with STO, people have a keen desire to explain everything. India scores 51, in preference towards long term culture. In India, religious and philosophical thoughts are ruled by 'karma'. They favor religious thoughts because the nations dominate religion; Hinduism is more of a philosophy of ideas, views and mysterious beliefs. Japan scores 88, one of the highest long–term oriented society. They believe in 'doing the best in one`s lifetime' and are guided by those virtues. Even Managers are future oriented and strive for long term goals and value investments. Masculinity/ Femininity This dimension measures gender in a culture and the distribution of roles Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. THOSE PEOPLE NEXT DOOR * AG Gardiner Points to Ponder NOTE: Read the text thoroughly. These notes have been prepared in helping you to have a better understanding of the text. Reading the text is a must for the terminal examination We seldom know our neighbors. London city has its inhabitants and people are busy with their domestic chores. Thus people often cohabit as virtual strangers showing the least interest in knowing their neighbors. This trait as mentioned by A.G. Gardiner is being increasingly noticeable in modern towns and cities in all parts of the world. The ignorance to know people who live next door is a trait which is increasingly shared by city dwellers. The only sound is the noise generated by the fire irons and the...show more content... Reading the text is a must for the terminal examination According to Bertrand Russell if it is important to deduce matters; we must abide by the tenets of observation. The observation of matters and things must be undertaken by us and us alone. We must not believe others blindly. All evidence needs to be tested for its credibility and validity. Thinking that a person knows things whereas in reality to remain ignorant of men and matters comes in the way of our deduction and findings. Russell has given us the example of Aristotle in a jocular manner stating that the best way for him to account for human teeth is to count them. Similarly if one is interested in knowing about the life of 'hedgehogs', then the appropriate course of action would be to find our more details about the animal by way of personal observation which can lead to appropriate deductions. There are however issues on which we have our passionate convictions.. In many such cases we remain oblivious of our personal bias. Thus we become angry or frustrated when we have to face an opinion contrary to our beliefs (Say for example if we meet an atheist and the opinion given by the atheist makes us angry) The writer has quoted if someone believes that two and two are five, or Iceland is on the equator we tend to feel more of pity than anger. Persecution is used in theology (it means cruel treatment that is meted out to someone Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Essay on Profile of a Person Raphael Colmanette 1 Dr.McDonough 10/16 First Year Writing Clash Of Cultures There are a lot of people around Belmont University with different concepts, different goals, different experiences, different cultures, but most important, different methods of thinking. When I realized that I would need to write a profile of someone else, I thought it would be the easiest essay that I have ever done. Contrary to my expectations, I realized that to write someone else's profile is kind of hard, because it is not only a simple thing such as just write the entire life of the person. A lot of stuff is behind the profile of a person. When I first thought about who I should interview, I was kind of lost, because I do not know a lot of people...show more content... I knew that he was a different guy with a lot of experiences for me to know, but actually he was way more than that. Andrew was born at Bangkok, Thailand. At the time he told me that, I became so interest to know about theculture, and all the differences between there and here. The most interesting thing about Andrew is that he has already lived in few different places and knows a lot of different cultures. He lived there in Bangkok until his six years old, and he had a good life there. He was used to live in a property where his family was the only white family in the whole building, what for me, I think it would be kind of scary, but according to him, it was kind of normal for him and his parents. His dad was used to work for a company back in Bangkok that when Andrew was six, the company changed place to Arizona, United States. With six years, he had already challenged the difficulties of change home to another country, and especially the big change of culture. Andrew was lucky to move when he was only six, because whenever you have more then ten years and had already made a lot of friends, and had already gone to school, it would be much harder to get used to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay on The Essence of a Human Being I have never pondered on such a question that reflects the whole human race and what it means to be a human being. What it means to be a human being is not just having a face, eyes, heart, or being able to drive a car, or to own a house. Being a human being is much more than that, deeper and more passionate. Being a human being is to have the ability to know what is right and wrong, having rational thought and to think deeply beyond the tangible things in the world, and being a human being is to find love. Yet as I think deeply into this more and more, I see that those things are not as important to be a human being, simply because you can live without those things; but to really live and thrive and build a race and society, being a human...show more content... We all meet different people each day, and we all learn from their life and values. This is one way of sharing a relationship. A person that you do not know may come up to you tomorrow and talk to you. Without relationships, a conversation will end surprisingly fast, and the two would not know each other and become distant. Having relationship does not always mean having to know a person. For example, if a Vietnamese and Chinese person talked, what relationships do they confront? Chinese and Vietnamese have a very long and historic relationship. They have the same holiday, same religions, and same ethic and morals. If the Vietnamese person talked about their family, how does the Chinese person relate to this? Well, they both know that in their countries, family is the most important and strongest thing a person has. Respect is the key in the family, because without this, there is chaos. The Chinese and Vietnamese may not know each other, but because of relationships that went on since the dawn of time, they both know what to say, what to do, and how to do it when they meet and talk. Because of relationships, we can know the traditions and customs of different people from different backgrounds. We share the same idea and similar beliefs around the world; without relating to one another, everyone would not be the same, we all would keep to ourselves and not share our ideas. Without relationships, humans would be almost non–existing. In the lifetime Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Disabilities : People With Disabilities Essay People with Disabilities In 2012, the U.S. Census Bureau released a report that approximately 1 in every 5 Americans has a disability, which translated into almost 56.7 million people (U.S. Census Bureau, 2012). Moreover, more than half of that population was severely disabled. However, many disabled people are stigmatized and excluded from everyday activities, do not receive the required disability–related services, and are not accorded equal access to employment opportunities, education, and health care. Despite the treatment people with disabilities get from other people, disability has been recognized as a human rights issue. It also proves that people with disabilities increasingly lead poor lives and experience poor socio–economic outcomes than other people. Since disability is a human condition, the majority of the people in the world will at some point in their lives experience a permanent or temporary impairment, especially when they grow old. Disability is contested, multidimensional, dynamic, and complex and thus refers to difficulties persons encounter in the body functioning, socially, physically, and mentally. It is the term used to refer to participation restrictions, activity limitations, and physical impairments when the disabled persons interact with their contextual factors. One of the impairments afflicting people is mental retardation, which results in social, physical, speech, and learning disabilities. Mental retardation is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay on "Good People" Good People What does it mean to be a good person? How can one respect oneself without hurting others? Are we able to judge whether a decision is wrong or right? Do we really know what love is? ... Questions like these have always existed, but what happens when an author tries to comprehend the complexity of being 'good people'? Is it possible to write about an issue like this? In David Foster Wallace's short story "Good People" from 2007 we experience an attempt to do so. In the short story "Good People" Wallace manages to reflect upon the complex discussion of what 'good people' are, as this is the main theme of the text. To discuss this the story revolves around supporting themes of religious, existentialistic and ethical...show more content... The strongly placed point of view creates a characteristic voice in the story. The voice ultimately reminds one of a 'stream of consciousness'–technique, which influences the story in general. The element of changing appellations stresses how the two kinds of processes are going on in the story; the associating way of reflecting along with the developing state of mind. The different use of how the main character titles himself from "Lane A. Dean, Jr. From an anonymous approach, 'the girl', to actually addressing her by her full name "Sheri Fisher", This use of the narrative technique creates a stream of consciousness and creates an associating but yet authentic feeling – a feeling that enlightens the complex main theme of the story. The construction of the characters and their relation is also important to the perception of the story. Given the fact that the story is told from the perspective of Lane, it is interesting that Sheri's character is described in a flat and static way. Myers in his article "The Funds, Friends, and Faith of Happy People" published in the American Psychologist (2000) and Michael Wiederman in "Why It's So Hard to Be Happy" published in the Scientific American Mind (2007), discuss the reasons which lead people to be happy, and the factors which contribute to unhappiness. Both authors concur that two factors that might escort people to satisfaction are relationships and personality. Myers mentions that a correlation, such as need to belong, marriage, and a friend, lead people to happiness since humans share their feelings with each other even if it is negative feelings. As a result, they keep the stress...show more content... On the other hand, people who don't experience flow are not fully engaged in their present time which leads them to be unhappy and depressed because they are worried about the future, or they are feeling too dreadful about the past. The result of that is that flow becomes one of the elements that makes people satisfied. However, Myers and Wiederman also consent that wealth, achievement, and one aspect of inheritance, little voice, might be obstacles to achieve happiness. Myers writes that money cannot buy happiness or bring it. Although people in poor countries are less happy than people in rich countries, some rich people are not as satisfied as regular people in the same country, and some of them don't know happiness, whereas a few of them are happy because they know how to gain it and how to spend it. Also, he compares people in the past and the present in the U.S. He concludes that Americans in the past seems happier than Americans now though the economy has been increasing, so wealth cannot escort satisfaction. According to Wiederman, accomplishment also may not lead to well–being since people whose goal is money will not be happy. That is because after achieving their goal, they will compare themselves with those who are richer than them. Then despondency will be their feelings. Moreover, if their goal is not money, and they are strong–linkers, another two situations may occur. He discusses that strong–linkers Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Whether it is a physical disability or a serious chronic disease, we have about one billion people in the world that live with a disability every day of their lives. It often occurs that these people are seen as an outcast of society; people that cannot live normal lives. It is important to realize that this is not true at all. People with disabilities are completely able to be part of the world. It is just the world's duty to accept them. Discrimination against disabled people occurs on a daily basis. They say people are scared of change, and you can clearly see this when it comes to people with disabilities. Most people with disabilities have been trained to properly handle their limitation and take care of themselves. They have lived with this for quite a time and they are completely capable of looking after their health. Although some disabilities require extra care and assistance, I think it is wrong to not give them the job if they are fully qualified and able to do the work. I am aware of schools in my city that refuses do take disabled people of any kind, because they say they don't want people that are not "normal". Further, there are schools that do accept disabled people, but even if you are able to, you are not allowed to do sport or any physical activity at school. Part of this, is the fact that people think if they cannot see your disability, you do not have it. Not all disabilities are physical, but rather a serious chronic disease. Some places offer special care for disabled people, for example, a fridge to keep your medicine or extra time in an exam if something goes wrong. The people around here have been extremely helpful and friendly. One thing I have noticed is they offer to drive you around if you need to go from place to place, and you don't have a vehicle. On one of our trips, I discovered they have a event, a cow rodeo. They have many cow statue things around Rock Springs, its for this event. • 10. Human Personality Essay A quote that I live by is, "People don't always behave the way you want them to, but it doesn't mean the way they behave is wrong." This says to me that I cannot change anyone because I do not understand or like the way someone does something. Trying to do this is trying to change one's human personality. Human personality is what makes a person distinctive, unique, and exceptional. Every person has a different personality and some personalities mesh better than others. Human personality should always be praised and no one should ever put anyone down for having a different personality. It is truly just allowing people to be who they are unless they are in violation of other human's rights. Just as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Any...show more content... Examples of laws like this would be: wearing a seat belt, the possession of guns, the right to abortion, and the ability to buy alcohol on Sundays. These types of laws are there because someone else says that it is wrong to do these things. Trying to prevent supposedly wrong things from happening seems like good intent but is actually unjust. An example of this is seat belt laws that try to prevent anyone from getting seriously hurt in the event of a car accident. But if the driver or their passengers do not want to buckle up why should the law force them. It may seem strange for some people to not want to wear their seat belt but it is just because they have a different personality. The only just laws are the ones that punish those that actually degrade someone's human personality. Rape, murder, robbery, and fraud are all examples of this. When someone rapes another they are taking away their free will to do whatever they choose. And those who commit that crime should be punished. But to create laws to prevent rapes from occurring is unjust. These types of laws assume that people will do wrong and that their human personality is wrong. People have the right to do whatever they please whether it is moral or not and they deserve the consequences of their actions. In conclusion, human personality is the essential character of a human being. It is not clear what uplifts and what degrades human personality because it is human nature to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Descriptive Essay On People In Life There are some people in life, that inspire you, while others can make it more exciting. But, there are a few that can do both. Inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative. The people you meet or see in life that can do both seem to influence your very own decisions. They produce unwavering emotions and never seem to concede. These people are the true exemplars of the aphorism, "You only live once." These people know how to fight for their lives, or hold back their emotions for the greater good of others. Shannon Cummings, Rick Porcello, and Devin/Jason Mccourty are my illustrations of people that live life to the fullest and try to help others that aren't able to do the same on their own. They are honest when they need to be, but they know when to tell a white lie to keep from hurting others. These people are philanthropists, donating their time, money, or energy to help others. They are people that are stoic, keeping their emotions to themselves when they are down, which allows others to do the same. Some of them are underdogs in their areas of expertise, but they defy expectations regularly. They are people that overcome many challenges in their way throughout life. These people share the same characteristics as many others in the world, but it is how they use them that makes them extraordinary. If a person can understand why a person is negative, they can take steps to help them better their attitude. Knowledge is power, and knowledge, in this case, comes in the form of empathy. 5. Look for the Positive Negative people are often down on themselves and suffer from low self–esteem. Because of this, they find it difficult to acknowledge the things they are good at. Looking for the positive, noting it, and complimenting the person for it can be a great way to break down barriers and get the negative person to think more positively. For example, a negative person might be terrible at communicating with co–workers, but he or she may be a great organizer. Make note of that, and compliment the negative person on their organizational skills.
