Project summary:
“Given that four research projects have been designed to respond to the Volta Basin Development Challenge (VBDC) of integrated management of rainwater and small reservoirs for multiple uses, the Coordination and Change Project V5, is formulated to orient, align and integrate the VBDC to contribute to poverty reduction and improved livelihood resilience in the Volta Basin. To do this, the project team will apply seven strategies: ensuring and coordinating quality research, fostering change through multi-stakeholder processes, communications, adaptive management, innovation research, gender mainstreaming and capacity development while working in collaboration with the other four projects (V1 – V4) to achieve the VBDC”

Parker allie_Mobilising biodiversity data for science and policy in South Afr...Fatima Parker-Allie
Biodiversity Informatics in South Africa, as in other parts of the world, is a young and dynamic field of science, which translates into an enormous challenge for biodiversity scientists. Understanding mechanisms for information sharing in this landscape has been successful over time. The South African National Biodiversity Institute, houses the GBIF Node, and supports a knowledge-management platform, which makes biodiversity data freely and openly available. The South African Biodiversity Information Facility (SABIF) is a major publisher of biodiversity data, making >11.5 million biodiversity data records available, from a growing network of more than 15 organisations, to the global scientific community. Data standards such as the Darwin Core, and protocols such as TAPIR and the Integrated Publishing Toolkit have been used. Data sharing takes place through both funded and non-funded mechanisms, to initiate digitization activities. A comprehensive policy framework has also been put in place by SANBI, to enable data sharing which takes into account intellectual property rights, citations and sensitive data. The scope of data of types being mobilized is increasing through the Foundational Biodiversity Information Programme with species, specimens, observation, images and molecular data being mobilised, and made accessible. The Information Architecture is evolving to support these data types and to ensure that relevant data can be accessed efficiently in support of science, policy and decision making.

www.seribangash.com
A Memorandum of Association (MOA) is a legal document that outlines the fundamental principles and objectives upon which a company operates. It serves as the company's charter or constitution and defines the scope of its activities. Here's a detailed note on the MOA:
Contents of Memorandum of Association:
Name Clause: This clause states the name of the company, which should end with words like "Limited" or "Ltd." for a public limited company and "Private Limited" or "Pvt. Ltd." for a private limited company.
https://seribangash.com/article-of-association-is-legal-doc-of-company/
Registered Office Clause: It specifies the location where the company's registered office is situated. This office is where all official communications and notices are sent.
Objective Clause: This clause delineates the main objectives for which the company is formed. It's important to define these objectives clearly, as the company cannot undertake activities beyond those mentioned in this clause.
www.seribangash.com
Liability Clause: It outlines the extent of liability of the company's members. In the case of companies limited by shares, the liability of members is limited to the amount unpaid on their shares. For companies limited by guarantee, members' liability is limited to the amount they undertake to contribute if the company is wound up.

Capital Clause: This clause specifies the authorized capital of the company, i.e., the maximum amount of share capital the company is authorized to issue. It also mentions the division of this capital into shares and their respective nominal value.
Association Clause: It simply states that the subscribers wish to form a company and agree to become members of it, in accordance with the terms of the MOA.
Importance of Memorandum of Association:
Legal Requirement: The MOA is a legal requirement for the formation of a company. It must be filed with the Registrar of Companies during the incorporation process.
Constitutional Document: It serves as the company's constitutional document, defining its scope, powers, and limitations.
Protection of Members: It protects the interests of the company's members by clearly defining the objectives and limiting their liability.
External Communication: It provides clarity to external parties, such as investors, creditors, and regulatory authorities, regarding the company's objectives and powers.
https://seribangash.com/difference-public-and-private-company-law/
Binding Authority: The company and its members are bound by the provisions of the MOA. Any action taken beyond its scope may be considered ultra vires (beyond the powers) of the company and therefore void.
Amendment of MOA:
While the MOA lays down the company's fundamental principles, it is not entirely immutable. It can be amended, but only under specific circumstances and in compliance with legal procedures. Amendments typically require shareholder

Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System
• An Africa wide initiative supporting CAADP and regionally
shared goals – SADC, COMESA, ECOWAS - by providing
analysis and knowledge support for planning, review and
policy dialogue for agricultural growth and poverty reduction
– Hosted via African based CGIAR centers in collaboration with IFPRI and
national, regional and international partners
– 3 regionally focused programs – East, Southern and West Africa –
launched Sept 2006
– Linked to RECS, chair Steering Committees

Informing CAADP Implementation
•ReSAKSS provides high quality and timely analysis, data, knowledge,
information, tools and technical support to facilitate dialogue and
evidence-based decision-making for CAADP implementation process
and other agricultural development initiatives in Africa
-largely implemented through operationalisation of the CAADP

CAADP Framework created by AU,
targets (6% & 10%)agreed upon by all
African leaders.
In order to implement goals of CAADP
framework, decision makers need evidence-
based knowledge on investments, options, etc.
ReSAKSS, though its
network of partners across
the continent, takes stock
and starts analysis of
growth options.
The establishment of Country SAKSS facilitates this by providing
country-specific information and analysis. These also serve as in-
country policy and knowledge hubs.
ReSAKSS manages this
knowledge so that
decision makers and
stakeholders can
access and utilize it.
Debate and dialogue
take place in countries
as they consider
options for
implementing CAADP
framework. (lead-up to
Roundtables)
Country CAADP compacts are
signed binding stakeholders to
goals set forth at Roundtables.
