Foreign tourist arrivals and earnings have increased by over 13% and 20% respectively in recent years. Various states across India are developing their tourism infrastructure and promoting different types of tourism, including cultural, medical, and ecotourism, to attract both domestic and international visitors. The government and private sector see tourism as an important source of employment and foreign exchange. If well managed, tourism could boost local economies while preserving environmental and cultural heritage.
