ABSTRACT
• Organic farming avoids the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides and genetically
modified organisms.
• Agriculture area under organic farming ranges from 0.03% in India to 11.3% in
Austria.
• Organic farming is a system that favours maximum use of organic materials and
microbial fertilizers to improve soil health and to increase yield.
• Organic food production is defined as cultivation without the application of
chemical fertilizers and synthetic pesticides or genetically modified organisms,
growth hormones, and antibiotics.
Objectives of Organic Farming
• The consistent and adequate production of healthy and nutritious food
• To lessen pollution, soil erosion, and soil degradation
• To develop crops in a manner that maintains their growth without interfering with their
inherent behaviours and conditions
• To provide optimal long-term fertilization through natural pesticides for the biological
actions of crops
• To preserve genetic and biological diversity between plants and animals
• To improve the management of recycling materials and rely on renewable sources in
industries
• To make organic products to defend crops from insects and plants
Principles of Organic Farming
Soil Management
The process in which soil is
recharging with all the necessary
nutrients called soil management.
Weed Management
• Moving or cutting – In this
process, cut the weed.
• Mulching – In this process,
farmers use a plastic film or
plant to residue on the soil’s
surface to block the weed’s
growth.
Crop Diversity
According to this technique,
different crops can cultivate
together to meet the growing
demand for crops.
Chemical Management
In this process, natural or fewer chemicals,
herbicides, and pesticides used to protect soil and
crops.
Biological Pest Control
In this method, use living organisms to control pests
with or without the use of chemicals.
Techniques of Organic Farming
Organic Agriculture and
Sustainable Development
The concept of sustainable agriculture integrates three main goals:-
• environmental health
• economic profitability
• social and economic equity.
The very basic approach to organic farming for the sustainable environment includes the
following:-
• Improvement and maintenance of the natural landscape and agro-ecosystem.
• Avoidance of overexploitation and pollution of natural resources.
• Minimization of the consumption of non-renewable energy resources.
• Exploitation synergies that exist in a natural ecosystem.
• Optimum economic returns, with a safe, secure, and healthy working environment.
Status of Organic Farming in
India
• India is home to 30% of the total organic producers in the world, but used to account for
just 2.59% (1.5 million hectares) of the total organic cultivation area of 57.8 million
hectares, according to the World of Organic Agriculture 2018 report.
• Most organic farmers are struggling due to poor policy measures, rising input costs and
limited market, says a study by ASSOCHAM.
ASSISTANCE PROVIDED BY DIFFERENT GOVERNMENT SCHEMES:-
• Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY)
• Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER)
• Capital Investment Subsidy Scheme (CISS) under Soil Health Management Scheme
• National Mission on Oilseeds and Oil Palm (NMOOP)
• National Food Security Mission (NFSM)
SURVEY
We conducted a survey on ORGANIC FARMING in the following areas:
• Peravaram
• Vadapalli
• Lolla
• Vemagiri
• Kadiam
• Ramachandrapuram
• Gattiwada
• Mulagalova
• B.B.Patnam
In our survey, we met 15 people and collected the information regarding their problems,
farming, etc., and also we gave an awareness on raising the organic farming.

CONCLUSION
• Organic farming yields more nutritious and safe food.
• The organic farming process is more eco-friendly than conventional farming.
• Organic farming keeps soil healthy and maintains environment integrity thereby, promoting
the health of consumers.
• India, at present, is the world’s most extensive organic producer. With this conception, we
can conclude that stimulating organic farming in India can strengthen a nutritionally,
ecologically, and economically healthy population shortly.
 According to our research many of them are well known about Organic Farming.
 For preserving the soil fertility, the following methods are used
• Fertilization methods is used as 7.1%
• Intercropping is used as 21.4%
• As compared to above methods, Crop rotation is used more i.e., 71.4%
 For controlling pests and diseases
• Biological & Organic control method is used as 64.3%
• Integrated pest management method is used as 28.6%
• Chemical pesticides method is used as 7.1%
 Benefits of using Organic food products
• 64.3% says ensures health and safety of the generation to come
• 28.6% says It prevents from various diseases like cancer
• 7.1% says Organic products help you to lose weight quickly
