This document outlines a lesson plan to teach first grade ESOL students about three-dimensional geometric shapes using Web 2.0 tools. The objective is for students to be able to describe six shapes by their attributes using a sentence frame, such as "An ice cream cone is a cone because it has a circular base with a vertex on top." The teacher will model completing sentences about shapes using a slide presentation with pictures and sentence frames. Students will then practice describing shapes to their partners. The presentation may engage students but requires time to create and limits assessment of learning to teacher observation.
