This document provides instructions for home learning activities for students over the course of a week. The activities include designing a superhero bear, writing sentences and stories about the bear, learning about VE Day and hosting a celebration party, and participating in an online fort building challenge. The instructions scaffold the writing activities and provide prompts to include capitalization, punctuation, conjunctions, adjectives, and sequenced steps.

3. Design your own
Superhero Bear!
Your first task of the week is to
design your own Superhero bear.
 If you're quick enough you could also enter the John
Lewis competition to have your design made into an
actual teddy! (Ask your grown up to look at the link
below – the closing date is 6th May)
Once you've designed your bear can
you add adjectives around your
picture?
 REMEMBER: describe the bear's personality
as well as their appearance.

7. Superhero Story...
 Can you put your superhero bear into a story?
 Today, thinking about our story mountain
plans (opening, build-up, problem, resolution,
ending), can you plan your superhero bear
story?
 Think about who your bear is going to
save? Where does your story take place? Is
there a bad guy that they need to defeat?
How will they overcome the problem?

 Using your story plan can you write your superhero story?
 When you write your story can you include...
 Capital letters
 Full stops
 Conjunctions (and, but, so)
 Adjectives
 Neat writing (tall letters tall, small letters small)

11. VE Day
 It is 75 years since the end of WW2.
 It is an important reminder of the past and a reminder that we have peace in our
country.
 This is something that we want to celebrate, to be able to remember the real-life
heroes who fought for their country.

12. Instructions
 To celebrate VE day we want you to imagine you are hosting your own party (your grown up
might even let you!)
 If you were hosting your own party what food would you have? Cake? Sandwiches? Jelly?
 Can you write the recipe for your most favourite party food?
 When you write your instructions remember to include...
 What you will need.
 What you do – numbered steps, time connectives (first, next, after, finally)
 BONUS: You could include pictures of each step.
