1. TEACHING LAB
PLEASE READ- YOU WILL BE PRESENTING A TOPIC IN CLASS DURING THE SEMESTER- DISTANCE LEARNING
STUDENTS WILL BE PROVIDING A PRESENTATION WITH SPEAKER NOTES
2. Topics to present on
You will find all the information within Teaching Lab within Our Classroom
section.
For this assignment students are required to choose ONE of the topics listed
in the announcement and inform the instructor of that topic by sending an
email that contains the chosen topic.
This is a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE selection process, so do not wait to make
the selection. Only one student per topic unless permitted by instructor.
For distance learning students the topic chosen by the student will be
submitted on the Sunday weekly due date of the week that the topic is
covered in the book. Those dates are listed in the announcement area
3. PRESENTATION TIPS
Students will create a PowerPoint slide show, WITH SPEAKER’S NOTES,
which help explain the concept and would be used to supplement the data on
the slides during an actual presentation.
The topic must be thoroughly discussed and presented in a manner that
makes the concept clear and understandable. The data in the “Features to
Discuss” column is there to serve as a starting point for the student to know
what to cover.
Students may add more data to their presentations so that the presentation
will be NO SHORTER THAN FIVE MINUTES BUT NO LONGER THAN SEVEN
MINUTES in length.
4. MLA
Students will have a minimum of two references (one from the
book and one from an outside source.)
These sources must be documented using MLA 8th edition style.
There must be a Works Cited page created in the same MLA stile.
The following link is to a website that will give you information on
how to use MLA formatting in a PowerPoint slide show:

5. PRESENTATION OF THE TOPIC
Classroom students will present during the week in which the topic they chose
is covered.
All students will submit the PowerPoint slide show file during the week that
the topic is covered in the course (see due dates below).
All PowerPoint files are to be submitted at the Teaching Lab link in the Our
Classroom page at Blackboard.
There is a grading rubric in the Teaching Lab folder at Blackboard for students
to use for guidance on what is expected. This lab is worth a possible 100
points.
