Virology provides well-validated viral structures and shapes that can be abstracted and applied to novel wearable designs and applications. There are four main viral forms - helical, enveloped helical, polyhedral, and enveloped polyhedral. Virus-like particles composed of viral proteins and lacking genetic material can successfully elicit immune responses without causing infection, as seen in HPV and Hepatitis B vaccines. This project aims to meaningfully deconstruct viral structures and apply them to wearable designs to create novel and functional architectures.
