5. THE CHALLENGE OF MANAGING ACROSS CULTURES
IN THE FUTURE
"Future Managers must deal with the many additional layers of
complexity that the changing environment of business brings
to their jobs. They must learn to operate within the complex
interplay between the various trends in the cultures of the
world and the process of globalization" (Kedia, 2006).
6. The changing environment of Business
There are 4 trends that set the stage for CCM future
1. Uneven Development:-
• Labor pool
• Wage Earning Jobs
• Per capita income less than USD 700
• Long working Hours
• High Part time employment
• Limited full time jobs
• Economic Migration
• Brain Drain From less developed countries
7. 2. Influence of Transition Economies:-
• Decline in centrally planned economies (Market based
approach)
• Failure of State Socialism
3. Information & Communication Technology
2 Tasks of IT
• Processing Information (Storing, Searching, Reproducing)
• Transmitting from one to another location
8. 4. Pressure on The Natural Environment
• Earth is finite Natural Resources
• Global Commons
• World's farmland is threatened by Erosion, Nutrient depletion & increased
salinity
• The impacts of global organizations on other aspects of the natural
environment are perhaps Direct (Parker, 2005)
• Industrialization: - Economic Development / Ecological Disruption
4 Trends towards more sustainable development are apparent (Parker,
2005)
* Tensions Between Economic growth and environmental protection will
continue to rise.
* Developing nations will not be able to imitate the consumption patterns
* Life styles in the rich nations of the world will need to change
* Maximizations of profits will need to be replaced by the expansion of
opportunity
9. The Adaptation of Organizations & People
Categories of Adjustment to our thinking about CCM
• The MNO Context
• The Future of the Organizations of work
• The Development of Global Managers
- International Management Careers

10. CONCLUSION
Cross- Cultural Managers will encounter with the
various future challenges which is caused by change
in business environment worldwide as a effect of
Globalization. Managers need to understand context
of management structure in MNOs and organization
culture followed by individuals with different cultural
and social identities, which Managers might need to
adapt.
THANK YOU!
11. CRITICAL ISSUES
1. Due to the poor economic condition and less-job
opportunities, skilled and qualified Manpower from
developing countries are migrating to developed
countries where opportunities are excess. Which is
termed as Brain-Drain.
- What are the negative and positive impacts ?
- What may be the solution?
