10. DEFINITIONS OF
‘CRITICAL THINKING’
 “Critical thinking is the intentional application of
rational, higher order thinking skills, such as
analysis, synthesis, problem recognition, problem
solving and inference and evaluation”
-(Angelo, 1995)
 “Critical Thinking is the ability to think about one’s
thinking in such a way as, 1) to recognize its
strengths and weaknesses and as a result, 2) to
recast the thinking in improved form.”
-(Center for Critical Thinking, 1996)

11. MEANING OF ‘CRITICAL
THINKING’
 Careful analysis
 Passing judgment
 Using appropriate standards, criteria.
 Intentional application of higher order
thinking such as analysis, synthesis,
problem solving, inference and evaluation.
 Determine true worth, merit and weakness
of something.

14. CONCEPT OF
CRITICAL THINKING
 Beyer- using criteria to judge quality of something.
 A disciplined manner of thoughts used to access
validity of something. (statement, news, stories,
arguments, research, etc.)
 Greek ideal, “living and examined life”, based on
skills, insights and values to do that.
 Model of thinking where thinker improves and skills
his/her thinking.
 It is self directed, self disciplined, self monitored
and self corrective thinking.
