Social Media s Influence On Marketing
Depending on the virtual assistant you hire, bookkeeping and accounting may be their forte.
Marketing Help
These days it is hard to underestimate the importance of marketing. Effective marketing is key to
success, especially in real estate. But social media marketing, content marketing, and ad
development and purchasing can all be very time consuming.
Content Marketing o We all know that content is king. We also know, or at least should, that unless
you are constantly posting new content to your website or blog, that you might as well not bother
with having one. Your virtual assistant can be a great help in finding, scheduling, and posting
robust content to your website and/or blog, freeing your marketing time up to write your own
original content.
Social Media o Social media marketing is so important these days. Whatever people are saying
about you and your company on social media is often the first impression prospective customers
and business associates get of you. Managing social media can be a huge challenge and another
way you can employee your virtual assistant to your advantage.
Advertising o Creating flyers and direct mail advertising pieces can also be a major drain on your
available time. But, it s so important to your business. Well, why not put this on your virtual
assistant as well?

How Did Edgar Degas Create A Two Dancer On A Stage
Edgar Degas was a French artist, which was known as an Impressionists. He was born on the
19th of July, 1834, in Paris, France. His full name was Hilaire Germain Edgar Degas. Degas
went into practice law. In 1855, he enrolled at the famous School of Fine Arts, in Paris, where he
studied under Louis Lamothe, a pupil of the classical painter Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres. In
time, Edgar Degas painting became popular and unique. Edgar Degas painting featured
unorthodox visual angles and asymmetrical perspectives. The painting Two Dancer on a stage
includes two dancers in standard ballet positions standing on a stage. However, there is another
Ballerina who is cut off. This allow you to see that the painting is painted on an angle making it
seem realistic. This makes the painting unique. The dancers in this painting are in full costume
and mid dance showing that this is not a rehearsal rather a performance. The coloring of the
painting is soft and is not bright. However, the dancer s costume are very bright with pink,
yellow, and green. Fiero informs us that he never sacrificed line and form to the beguiling
qualities of color and light (120). Degas use of muted colors stands in contrast to the vivid colors
being used by the Impressionists in their landscapes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on Methamphetamine as a Sleepless Dream or...
Methamphetamine as a Sleepless Dream or Addictive Nightmare
Methamphetamine has reclaimed a place in the lexicon of party drugs. Hailed by nocturnal
adventurers, condemned by raver idealists, is speed a sleepless dream or an addictive nightmare?
Here at the end of the millennium, the pace of modern life seems fleeting a whirl of minutes, hours
and days. In dealing with the changes, humans have equipped themselves with the tools to move
faster, more efficiently. At the same time a dependence for the marketing, high speed transportation
and pharmacology of this modern age has evolved. In a race to outdo ourselves, we have moved
dangerously toward the fine line between extinction and evolution. Therefore, the human ... Show

The hyperreality of today goes hand in hand with the drugs being administered.
It s 6 a.m. Around the speaker bins are small packs of animated dancers grinding their feet into the
floor and shaking their hands in front of them. The lookie loos and weekend warriors have long
since gone home. Absent from their faces are the smiles of midnight, replaced by the blank, vacant
stare of sleepless dreams.
They have a name in the rave community, they are tweakers. Tweaking, the common name for
sniffing lines of speed, the drug methamphetamine, (popular for its availability and price) has
somehow replaced MDMA and LSD as the perfect rave drug, allowing users the clear head and
stamina to keep dancing long after their bodies have gone to sleep.
A prominent opinion during the aftermath of the Los Angeles Summer of Love was that speed
killed the rave scene. Where speed had been seen in every scene from metal to the punk scene,
for some reason it was shocking for some to see methamphetamine take hold, even though
MDMA (an amphetamine like substance) had been circulating for years. Some likened the rise to
the quash of young newcomers, some equated it with the greed of drug dealers. Judging from
today s roster of events throughout the nation, raves are still alive and well. However, many old
schoolers have been turned off by the newbie vibe that came with speed s rise in popularity. Some
were casualties themselves of the drug s addictive nature. Others

an unsuccessful campaign for Governor of California in 1962; following these losses, Nixon

Theodore Teddy Roosevelt (October 27, 1858 January 6, 1919) was the 26th President of the
United States. He is well remembered for his energetic personality, range of interests and
achievements, leadership of the Progressive Movement, model of masculinity, and his cowboy

A Birds Eye View By Annie Dillard
Perspective: A Birds Eye View
Birds appear in many fields that require skills or talent. You can find artist drawing them, scientists
observing them, and poets writing about them. Sometimes these things overlap and meet one
another. John James Audubon not only studied birds for a living, but also drew them for the sake
of science. Annie Dillard illustrates a flock of birds flowing overheard with her words, while
Audubon takes a more technical approach. Even though they experienced the same encounter, their
backgrounds forced them to take different perspectives while talking about birds.
Audubon sees a flock of birds overhead and instinctively takes notes on them, counting each bird to
further his data. Being a member of the ornithological

Essay about Fraser Company
Problem Statement
Columbia Plastics division of Fraser Company, the major manufacturer of skylights in the Pacific
Northwest, is facing a severe competition from Vancouver Light which has just announced a
further price cut of 10%. Alice Howell, president of the Columbia Plastics is unsure of which
options to implement 1) cut the prices at a level that just cover the costs, or 2) continue the current
pricing policy and lose market leadership. Fraser is facing the erosion of its market share.

Weaknesses
Columbia lacks a strategic management plan linking its resources to its market opportunities.
It lacks thorough understanding of its target market (the needs of the present and future customers).
It lacks continuous improvement in its production process in order to reduce production costs.
(Columbia s production cost is higher than that of competitors.) Opportunities
Market development: Columbia can develop new markets to sell its current products. (for example,
expansion to California, Mid Western states and international markets)
Product development: Using the plastic moulding skills, it can develop new or improved products
that will appeal to the customers (for example, improved skylights to reduce heat loss).
Threats
The competitor is cutting its price to a level that Columbia cannot match.
Columbia is steadily loosing its market share to the competitor (at a rate of 1,000 units per year).
Market and competitive analysis
Total sales of skylights are 45,000 units per year, primarily in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and
Montana. The sales of skylights have levelled off in recent years. Prior to the advent of Vancouver
Light, Columbia had about a 70% share of this market. Colombia also occasionally sells a large

Prospero And Ariel Relationship
The relationship between Prospero and Ariel has been attempted to be linked to different types of
magical relationships. Prospero and Ariel are different from the witches and spirits the witches in
Macbeth are servants to the spirits, but Prospero is not which in turn rules out a witch spirit
relationship. This is also true in Henry VI: Part 2 in which the summoner is a servant of the spirit
and the magic takes place in more eerie situations conditions that do not apply to Ariel and Prospero
. The duo s relationship is uncommon in the world of the Hermetic magi and their daemons,
however supporters of this possible connection argue that Ariel could possibly serve as a

Sociology Is A Simple Form Of Sociology
Sociology, in its most simple form, is often described as the study of society and culture or as
Alvin L. Bertrand says, the study of human relationships in his book Basic Sociology (1967:5),
although, others argue that it is not that simple, such as R. Jenkins who says There are those for
whom the fundamental building blocks of Sociological analysis can only be individuals, others for
whom they must be collectivities in The foundations of Sociology(R. Jenkins: 15). Sociology brings
together a number of different viewpoints from a wide range of sociologists. Although Auguste
Come was the founder of the term Sociology , a number of different Sociologists, such as
Durkheim and Marx, have challenged and changed perceptions about the term.
Auguste Comte (1798 1857), a French social scientist inspired by changes that the French
Revolution caused, was the key founder of Sociology as a concept and classed himself at the
first official sociologist . The word sociology is a simple combination of two different words:
Firstly, the word socius , which has Latin origins and a direct meaning of society, association,
togetherness or companionship , and Secondly, the ancient Greek word, logos, which has a
literal meaning of to speak about, or a word . Therefore, Comte defined Sociology, in the
simplest form, as the study of society and culture . Not only was Comte the first to give
Sociology a definition but also the first to study how society worked as a system, as said by

Avatar In 2009 Avatar was released with a highly positive review. Watching this movie around
eight times in the first year it was out I concluded that the deeper meaning of the story could be
taken two different ways. In a sense it could be depicting how the European s came and took the
Indian s land, just how the Na vi seemed to be Native American in traditions and beliefs. The
second way of viewing it could be how the humans are killing the planet and its native population
just so they can get recourses and make a profit. This could be a way of saying how mankind is
killing the planet. The movie could mean both of these or something completely different. I am not

The scenery during this part of the movie shows different tribes around the planet, each with their
own beliefs and culture. Every village looked different from the last and even though it s a short
scene it adds more to the world and shows you just how vast and wild the world really is.
They each had a leader and distinct face paint and war paint that they prepared for this fight. Jake
would singlehandedly unite every tribe to protect the Na vi s way of life.
The seconds is near the end of the movie when you see how everything plays out and all the loss
of life on both sides. After hearing the stories from both Na vi and human you can t decide who you
should root for in the fight. Humans because you are a human of the Na vi because they are also,
the victims in the movie. It could also be because they give such a rich background to the
Na vi that you can t help but to love their world and way of life. What I like about Avataris just how
beautiful it is to watch. The director and whoever oversaw the CGI did an amazing job depicting
the world. They made the world vivid with breathtaking views and amazing new animals and
vegetation, each one was unique and vivid with how they seemed to glow in the dark. The second
thing I love about this film is how they implemented enough action to satisfy me, but it wasn t the
whole movie. It had story and plot and action when needed. The third thing I loved about

Orbital Fracture In Sports
Orbital fractures represent a small proportion of sports related injuries. Initial evaluation is directed
at excluding neurological impairment or the presence of signs and symptoms consistent with orbital
fracture. These include gross bony deformity, diplopia and malposition of globe. The majority of
pationts who sustain orbital fractures are able to return to sport, however, persistent diplopia is not
uncommon.
Orbital fractures represent a significant sequelae of blunt ocular trauma sustained during sport.
These injuries may result in chronic functional disability for affected players, and as such, must be
differentiated from less serious facial injuries and appropriately managed in the acute setting. [12]

When a blunt object larger than the diameter of the orbital entrance strikes the eye, it compresses
the globe resulting in a sudden increase in intraorbita hydraulic pressure. The dose not rupture, and
this acute increase in intraorbital pressure is dissipated via the soft tissue through the weakest
portions of the orbit: the posteromedial portion of the orbital floor and the lamina papyracea of the
ethmoid bone, which constitutes the medial orbital wall. This ultimately results in the fracture and
potential displacement of one or both these bony orbital segments. Other theories describing the
genesis of blow out fractures have been offered and include the bone conduction or buckling theory
in which direct trauma to the inferior orbital rim causes the orbital floor to buckle, and its thinnest
area to fracture. Numerous studies have revealed data in sports of both

Essay Jewish Resistance to the Nzi Holocaust
Despite all of these internal and external factors contributing to a lack of Jewish resistance to the
Holocaust, there was resistance in existence in many forms; the resistance that did occur must not
be diminished or overlooked. When considering the definition of resistance , historians divide
themselves on what this entails; some believe it to be only active, armed resistance attempts, while
others define it more liberally. According to Yehuda Bauer, resistance entails any group action
consciously taken in opposition to known or surmised laws, actions, or intentions directed against
the Jews by the Germans and their supporters. Considering resistance with a broad definition such
as this ensures that the efforts made at resistance... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This symbolic form of resistance is placed within Bauer s definition of resistance in that it
entailed group demonstrations and protests actively opposed to the Nazi regime. Non violent
resistance began to evolve as the Jews were transported to the concentration camps. Upon their
initial arrival in the concentration camps, inmates attempted to aid each other in various ways,
such as by giving those that were extremely malnourished extra food or attempting to lessen the
workload on those that were weaker by taking their place; these acts, although not aimed directly
against the SS, were simply keeping one another alive. These acts can be considered under
Bauer s definition of resistance in that the groups motives in sustaining themselves as a whole
was in direct opposition to the central idea of the SS to break down and destroy the Jewish
population. These acts also helped lead to the later active, armed resistance in that they helped to
keep inmates alive and maintain their strength, as well as providing them with a will to resist. As
the Jews became aware of their imminent extinction, resistance continued to evolve, taking a more
direct form in instances of escape and sabotage. There were instances of Jewish escape from
concentration camps; two Jewish prisoners successfully escaped from Dachau in 1933 and later
publicized what was occurring in the camp. However, instances of escape were

Analysis Of Gertrude Stein s I Ain t No Oxford
With so many rules in the English language, it is easy for one to wonder how they were created.
The dictionary, for example, was only created a few hundred years ago by people who thought
that was how language was supposed to be. Many artists have had the mission to go forward and
break these rules. Gertrude Stein s Tender Buttons, bill bissett s text bites, and John Agard s I Ain
t No Oxford Don question rules of grammar and synaptic normality. By the way, these poems
disrupt words, use non standard prose, and have ambiguous interpretations they break the rules of
grammar and disrupt the formal laws of language, inducing new ways of about the how one

A line just distinguishes it (Stein, p.6). While asking what is the flattering length she ends up
defining it by a line. A line can only be defined by a contour or outline. It cannot be defined by
actual matter. Therefore, the serene length ends up being defined by not being able to be
defined. This gives readers an unending openness to interpretation and perspective. In Gertrude
Stein s Water Raining she leaves the reader without any certainty. Stein writes Water is
astonishing and difficult altogether makes a meadow and a stroke (Stein, p. 10). Without the
use of punctuation, the reader is able to interrupt the poem according to how one sees fit.
Placing a period after astonishing (Stein, p. 10) makes it so the meadow and stroke are
strenuous on their own. A period after altogether (Stein, p. 10) leave the meadow and stroke to
come as an aftermath from the water. While a period after meadow (Stein, p. 10) gives serenity a
meadow will come from water but, a stroke is an afterthought. Stein was not the only one to use
visual art to make literature. bill bissett as a visual artist and writer links his worlds together. At
first glance, bill bissett s poetry seems to be hard to understand, nonsensical, and almost a fallacy.
bissett s use of synecdoche pushes the reader to reexamine how one reads a poem in the first
place. The poem flows from whole to part. Particularly in text bites the words come across

How Are Biddy And Estella Alike
Will Layton A Contrast in CharactersThroughout the book Great Expectations, Biddy and Estella
are contrasted with Pip. Through this, Dickens is able to show Pip s flaws and advantages
throughout the book. Biddy and Estella are complete opposites for the most part and many of
their traits are complete opposites of each other. For instance, Biddy is kind and nice to Pip, but
Estella bullies Pip and tells him that he is not good enough for her. Biddy is very plain and
simple and as Pip describes her as common. (Dickens p.100) On the other hand, Estella is
described to be very beautiful and extravagant. These descriptions would make them exact
opposites however the comparison does not stop there. It is also said that Biddy is very smart and

She teaches Pip everything that she knows and despite this he only uses her for what she has to

reposed complete confidence in no one but Biddy; but, I told poor Biddy everything. Why it
came natural to me to do so, and why Biddy had a deep concern in everything I told her , I did
not know then, though I think I know now. (Dickens p.78) Another similarity with Pip and
Biddy is that they are both Orphans brought up by hand, this also puts them in the same class
order however despite this Pip still tries to get out of his low class no matter what and his drive
for a little success is scary. This drive will almost certainly be his downfall. Throughout the story
Biddy and Estella are pretty much foils of each other and Dickens uses this so that he can explain
some of Pips behaviors, like his selfishness comes from Estella and his kindness comes from
Biddy, these two traits are opposites of each

Chewing Gum Should Be Allowed In School Essay
What is one change that could be made to make schools better? What do you think should be
changed? In my opinion, one rule that should be changed to make our school better is give
authorization for kids to chew gum. In fact, scientist have established that chewing gum can help
enhance the student learning capability in numerous ways. Therefore, the rationale being is that
kids that chew gumshould be allowed to in school reason being it could help them stay more
focused and become enhanced students, it could also help enhance their memory, and I have heard
people in school saying that when they are chewing gumit helps them stay relaxed. However,
chewing gum should be allowed in school is on behalf of it has been scientifically proven that
chewing gum can cause students to be more focused and manufacture students become better, help
them enhance their memory, and also I have heard from people scoffed around school that when
they chew gum it helps them stay relaxed.
Kids should be able to chew gum during school reason being is that it has been scientifically proven
that chewing gum can form students to stay more focused in making them better student. On the
other hand, the principal s and teachers think gum should not be allowed because they think gum is
an interruption considering that the students would most likely be blowing bubbles and making
commotion with their bubble gum. However, if that did happen all the teachers would have to say
is everyone needs to provoke blowing bubbles and then students should stop. When the teacher
gives out, work it has been scientifically proven to help them stay more focused, so that means
chewing gum could cause the students want to be less focus on their surroundings and stay more
focused on getting their work done. Then, if they start getting their work done, that means that they
are becoming superior students.
Another, reason kids and students should be able to chew gum during school is it has also been
scientifically proven to help improve the students memory. For example, when students are studying
for a test it could help them remember what they studied about. Next, it can also help them
remember what they learned that day during school thanks to they were

Asphalt Tango
In this odd short film, it seems that a mad artist, who was once affiliated with the Romanian
Army, is creating a collage of his darkest fantasies. It is more likely that these military men are
apart of the Romanian Army, because in one scene there is a tape recorder set on the artist s desk,

The soldiers need to come out in a specific position when they fall down to their deaths, this
probably takes many tries. It certainly can be said that many men died to be apart of this
sickening scheme. These men were easily persuaded to be compliant by, the General, who
honoured their bravery by giving the soldiers the same pin that was attached simply with a
cheap safety pin. The General himself did not seem to care too much about murdering the
soldiers. He had an egotistical look when he was speaking to the next soldier. It can be assumed
that, he enjoys the power he holds when he persuades or talks the soldiers into falling to their
deaths. During World War II, many very young boys were drafted into the war. They almost
instantly lost their sanities being surrounded by the horrifying corpses of dead soldiers and the
persecuted jewish people. These boys were too young to be thrown into a world they had never

Religion Reflection
Before taking American Religious Lives, I had previously taking Mystery and Meaning, that was
my first encounter with religion. Essentially everything that we have learned in the class has been
new to me because I do not have any prior experience with American religion, since my other
Religious Studies class focused on Asian and Native American religions. Growing up I never went
to church growing up, but I was baptized, but never understood what that meant. I do no think of
myself who is involved or a part of any religion. The fact that I am unfamiliar makes the class very
challenging for me, but it is also a good type of challenge because it makes me work harder to
understand all the topics discussed in class and it makes me really have to think deeper about all
the topics. Not being associated with any religion is also helpful because I can be an outsider
and not have a biased opinion and not have to choose a side of the different religious
perspectives. Religion seems like it is a very complex topic, where a lot of religions in America
have different sects and each sect has a different background. I knew that Christianitywas the most
popular religion in America, but I did not know about all the different sects and that Christianity
as a whole is the faith of over 70% of Americans and that most of the other 30% is made up of
people who are unaffiliated with any religion. (Wormald, 1).
Another topic that I found intriguing was that most of the immigrants that come to

Tree Of Life Journal Entry
The Tree of Life entry was one I created after I was able to leave work early on the weekend. I had
only worked with pastel oil colors a few times before, and wanted to draw something that was
somewhat intricate, but also set in a very smooth and free flowing background. I began by drawing
the circle, a Mandala, I just didn t know it at the time, and the trunk of the tree. As I began filling
in the outline of the tree limbs, I found myself thinking about my own family tree, and concluded
the limbs in the tree with a strong sense of the connectedness of each person alive today. I chose to
use vibrant and bright colors to silhouette the tree in oranges and yellows to represent the sun which
provides for everything the tree needs to survive,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I had really wanted to try and draw concentric circles on the paper, and believed it would only look
visually appealing if I had perfect circles, so I purchased a protractor on my way home from school
that day to try in this Mandala. I initially drew the larger outer circle, then drew smaller and smaller
circles until I made it to the middle. I noticed that the tip of the protractor had actually pierced a
hole through the paper and as I looked though the tiny hole I was inspired to turn the entire
Mandala into somewhat of an eye, so I drew a pupil in the middle. I then chose to work with
colored pencil and fill the rest of the page with colors. I used a brown color in the middle to go
along with the eye theme, but then I decided to make the entry more intricate and drew squiggly
lines in the next circle, followed by a complex kaleidoscope pattern. I wanted to progressively
return the patterns back to a simpler and calmer design, and ended up with a yellow star near the
outer edge, almost looking as if it is the setting in which the eye had been mounted, like a stone
in a ring. For me, this gave the Mandala a very stable feeling, I feel as though without it, the
image may begin to swirl. I also chose to set the Mandala into a softly swirling background. I
found that I really enjoy making Mandalas and that it does not have to be geometrically perfect to
still be visually

Essay about My Fantastic Freshmen Roommate
When I told people that I was going to Ball State University they then went on to ask who I
would be rooming with since lots of other people that I knew were going here as well. I never
wanted to room with my best friend or anyone that I knew going into college. You always hear
about awful roommmate stories but whose to say that that happens to everyone. Pretty much
everyone told me that if I chose a random roommate It would most likely turn sour. They were so
wrong. I was determined to have a fresh start in collegeand meet new people so I was willing to
take that chance, and I m glad I did. Having heard these myths about college roommates from so
many previous students it did in fact affect my thoughts about heading off to college. But... Show

Once I had walked in the room I saw that Natali (my new roommate) had Harry Potter posters

Now not everyone will immediately feel the way I did about Natali if you go in with the mindset
that you will hate your roommate just from everything that you have been told. The thing to
remember is to go into it with an open mind.
Natali was on her way out when I arrived to unpack all of my stuff.
Hey! I m Natali. Natali Bacon. Just hearing her last name made me laugh on the inside. Other
than the quick hellos that we exchanged earlier that day we didn t see each other until later on
that night. It was awkward to say the least almost like when you are stuck in an elevator with a
complete stranger, except permanently. Things gradually got less weird as the night went on
but for the most part you can imagine that it was still pretty uncomfortable. We both gave it time
and after spending two full days inside together due to the scorching temperatures outside we
slowly found out how alike we were. We both loved the same TV shows like New Girl, Dexter,
and Breaking Bad. Literally we watched almost a complete season of Dexter together before the
first day of school even started. I just remember thinking to myself during my first night at Ball

Marketing Ethics Into The Marketing Process
Ethical Marketing
Ethical marketing refers to the application of marketing ethics into the marketing process. Ethical
marketing is about making marketing decisions that are morally right. The ethics of the marketing
decision can incorporate any part of marketing including sourcing of raw materials, staff
employment and product advertising and pricing. Sound marketing ethics are usually those that
result in consumer satisfaction, with no negative effect, with the goods and services being
recognized or with the company producing them. Ethical marketing generally results in a more
socially responsible and culturally thoughtful business community. The concern with ethical issues
has changed the attitude of the world towards a more socially responsible way of thinking. This
has influenced companies to market their products in a more socially responsible way.
Ethical marketing is less of a marketing strategy and more of a way of life that enlightens all
marketing efforts. It seeks to promote honesty, fairness, and responsibility in all advertising. Some
businesses pursue ethical marketing because they feel that is what customers expect from them.
Some consumers buy products and services because they feel that the products, services, or
companies are ethical. In response to this consumer demand, organizations have increased their
focus on ethical marketing. Marketing employees must be aware of the principles of self interest
and personal virtues. As they make decisions they must

Comparison Of Edward Abbey And Ralph Waldo Emerson
Since the beginning of time, man and nature have coexisted with one another. Before civilizations
began and industrialization spread, all that was in the world was nature and man. Both Edward
Abbey and Ralph Waldo Emerson, viewed nature as something which made us complete as a
person. Abbey claims nature both bore us and sustains us . They believe we owe everything to
nature. Nature has provided us opportunities to grow and prosper as an individual, yet what Abbey
and Emerson failed to recognize is the importance of community. Both men believed one could truly
understand himself by escaping society and pursuing the serenity of nature. This theory has its
faults, for while moments of isolation may be beneficial in renewing one s self, other

The Myth Of The Black Rapist Analysis
The Myth of the Black Rapist, according to Davis s Rape, Racism, and the Myth of the Black
Rapist, has been methodically conjured up whenever recurrent waves of violence and terror against
the Black community have required convincing justifications. So, a seed would be planted that an
African American raped someone in hopes that it would help in their sentencing. It functioned as a
form of social control because no one would stand up to support them; even if it was blatantly
obvious that this male didn t rapeanyone, no one wanted to go against the norm. The myth of the

Harris s interest was the representational dialogic of racial difference within film and the real

black masculinity are problematic and limited. This was an operation of sorts, of recoding
masculinity from established, now historic, Hollywood codings of black men and black masculinity
visualizes a more ambiguous, more discursive image, producing the meanings of an intricately
constructed masculinity, more complexly dimensional than the submissive, docile Tom, or the
morally corrupt, conniving, sexually threatening drug dealer (Harris, 52). But these aggressive and
politically charged black masculinities, now turned into these difficult ideological metaphors they

Power And Corruption In A Tale Of Two Cities
Throughout all of human history, many influential beings have exploited varying forms of human
nature s prominence, as well as its true darkness. There have been many cases to humans acting out
of pure righteousness by standing by and supporting their true and sincere morals, whereas others
have revealed the deep evil within us through acts of brutality, savagery, or manipulation. Percy
Bysshe Shelley one wrote, Power, like a desolating pestilence, Pollutes whate er it touches . This
quote expresses Shelley s opinion that power does not come without corruption. I support Shelley s
assertion because her belief can be proven not only through examples from the book, A Tale of

On the other hand, however, those who were consumed by the corruption possessed weaker minds
with not as righteous morals. One may conclude that, because humans are not born with
immediate mental fortitude, it may be a part of human nature to be corrupted by power. In
Charles Dickens famous novel, A Tale of Two Cities , many situations that have involved
corruption through power revolved around an individual that uses that power for a selfish reason,
such as entertainment or revenge. An example of this would be when the Marquis of France
abused their royal titles. By having a high rank in the social class, the Marquis used their titles to
live lives of luxury while the rest of society suffered in extreme poverty. This example from the
book depicts a darker characteristic of selfishness in human nature, which contributes to

Barometer Rising Book Report
The Novel
The main subject of Hugh MacLennan s novel is the return of Neil Macrae from France to
Halifax in order to clear his name. His uncle, Colonel Geoffrey Wain, had ordered an ill planned
advance on the Germans; Wain tried to blame the resulting debacle on Neil, ordering his arrest
and court martial for cowardice. When a shell hit the dugout in which he was being held prisoner,
Neil was reported missing, believed killed. It is revealed, however, that he was picked up, badly
wounded and amnesiac, and sent to the hospital. His rescuers believed him to be a private in the
British North Country regiment that had relieved the Canadians. He gradually recovered his
memory but retained his British identity until he returned to Canada.

He loses interest in destroying Colonel Wain s reputation and does not even trouble to get from the
mortally injured Alex Mackenzie the affidavit that would clear his name. Angus Murray does this
for him.
The heroine, Penny Wain, is a woman whose life is changed by the war as much as is Neil s.
Although destructive and disruptive, the war does give Penny a chance to use her talents to
become a naval architect. She achieves the distinction of having her design for a submarine chaser
accepted by the British Admiralty.
Angus Murray acts as the confidant to the other characters and as a link between them. The
belief that Penny might marry him cures for a time his melancholia and alcoholism, which had
been caused in part by the early death of his first wife as well as by the horrors of war. The return
of Neil puts an end to that happiness, although being forced to operate after the explosion, for the
first time since leaving France, restores his pride and self confidence.
All the characters in the novel are measured against Colonel Wain, who stands for everything in
Canada s colonial past that should be rejected. In the Wains family history is encapsulated the
history of the nation. The founder of the Wain line in Canada was a sergeant who fought with
Major General James Wolfe at Quebec. His grandson founded the family fortunes by privateering in
the War of 1812. With the proceeds, he had started a trade with the West

Amlie Movie Essay
A narrative reading of AmГ©lie (2001) directed by Jean Pierre Jeunet, is a quirky portrayal of
modern day Parisian life, set in Montmartre. It tells the story of a shy waitress, played by Audrey
Tautou, who decides to change the lives of those around her for the better, while struggling with
her own isolation. We see the progression of Amelie s character from childhood to adulthood.
The opening sequence of the film gives an insight of Amelie s childhood and establishes the
main characters and their traits. Young Amelie s traits are established in different scenes of the
opening sequence, for example a mid shot is used as the opening credits start and young Amlie
is framed alone. We see a stream of games young Amelie used to play, like making silly faces,
dominoes and finger games. These games belong to the knowledge of everyone, everyone can
recognise them. If a scene focuses on the childhood, we know that this moment of life will be a
determinative item in the film. This shows the active audience theory, which media audiences do
not just receive information passively but are actively involved, often unconsciously making sense
of the message within their personal and social context. The decoding of a media message may

Rhetorical Devices In The Gettysburg Address
One of the most widely quoted and upheld speeches of all time was the Gettysburg address given
by Abraham Lincoln in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on November 19, 1863. To completely
understand the speech and why it was written the way it was you would first need to understand
the history of Abraham Lincoln himself. Also needed, would be to understand the specific writing
styles and words commonly used in that day and age. The style in particular was largely adapted
from ancient Greek literature and Rhetoric. This was widely taught in schools during the 1800 s
and most is still taught today. This style and word usage was used by many authors of that time,
such as Frederick Douglas to which I will refer to in later parts of this work.
Abraham Lincoln was born to a poor farming family and worked on his father s farm for most of
his young life. Going to school was not an option for Abraham but this did not stop him. At a very
young age, Abraham began reading and did not stop. Abraham would continue to read the bible,
Shakespeare and many other pieces of literature popular in that time. I believe that the most
beneficial teachings Abraham would endure was that of grammar. Grammar taught in those days
included basic punctuation all the way to Rhetoric. Rhetorical devices such as repetition, asyndeton
and the use of metaphors were all taught thoroughly. One can clearly see these devices in use in
nearly every writing and speech produced by Lincoln.

Analysis Of Raymond Carver s Popular Mechanics
Communication is key, is a statement that people hear more than once in their lifetime. Whether
they choose to understand it or not, it s something that they will always hear. But if
communication is really key why do people choose to hide away the key and keep their door
locked? Every relationship has it up and downs. There is no couple who can say that their
relationship is perfect, everyone runs into a few bumps in the road. It seems like they only want
sunshine and rainbows in a relationship and don t want to endure the storms that may come along.
People just have to hang in there and learn how work through their issues. In Raymond Carver s
Popular Mechanics , the social issue of communicationin relationships is brought up.
Communication is important in relationships because it is the key to success. Poor communication
can bring up many issues in a relationship like unnecessary arguments, unhappiness and in worse
case scenarios separation. It s shocking to see people who actually believe that they can solve
their problems by avoiding them. If he or she doesn t speak up and tell their significant other that
something is bothering them or that they are hurt or upset then how are they supposed it fix it?
People are quick to say that their partner should know when something is wrong, but they have to
remember that nobody is a mind reader. The art of a relationship requires communication. That
means that people have to learn to express what is going on in their hearts

The Project Heart Healing Ceremony And Film
The Project Heart healing ceremony and film can be described by thinking of it in terms of story
types. Annette Simmons suggests various story types that storytellers may choose from when
attempting to lead or influence others. Simmons discusses one, the Vision story, in which the
storyteller uses sensory detail to express an emotional appeal for a future outcome (14 17). Thus,
Leslie asks residential school survivors to share their life experiences with members of their
community. She does this because she has a vision that when members of the audience honor the

She also uses her public platform to teach that sharing stories and having them acknowledged

Another leadership story type that Simmons discusses is the Values in Action story, which
brings values to life by respectfully instilling [them] in a way that keeps people thinking for
themselves (20). Leslie asks the schoolchildren to imagine what it must have been like to be
raised in an Indian residential school, stating that the children are the next generation who will
walk forward with values and ideals that will change our world and make it a better place
(Project Heart). The adults who participated in the ceremony (in addition to those who view it
through film) must also face the same question, as well as face their individual and collective
values as demonstrated by their response to her poignant inquiry. That is to say, if adults see
children acting according to a certain ethical standard, the adults are also likely to choose to follow
with their own ethical actions. Finally, Simmons discusses what she names I know what you are
thinking stories, in which the storyteller attempts to name the audience s objections as a way of
disarming any potential resistance to influence (23 26). Leslie tells the children at the beginning
and the end of the Project Heart film that she teaches history from multiple perspectives because

The schema master domain controller controls all updates and modifications to the schema. To
update the schema of a forest, you must have access to the schema master. The domain controller
holding the domain naming master role controls the addition or removal of domains in the forest.
Domain wide operations master roles
Every domain in the forest must have the following roles, relative ID (RID) master, primary domain
controller (PDC) emulator master, and Infrastructure master
These roles must be unique in each domain which means that each domain in the forest can have
only one RID master, PDC emulator master, and infrastructure master.
The RID master allocates sequences of relative IDs (RIDs) to each of the various domain
controllers in its domain. At any time, there can be only one domain controller acting as the RID
master in each domain in the forest.
Whenever a domain controller creates a user, group, or computer object, it assigns the object a
unique security ID (SID). The SID consists of a domain SID, which is the same for all SIDs
created in the domain, and a RID, which is unique for each SID created in the domain.
To move an object between domains (using Movetree.exe), you must initiate the move on the
domain controller acting as the RID master of the domain that currently contains the object.

Reproduction technologies had an impact on the evolution of electro acoustic equipment. Schaeffer
s piece Etude aux Chemins (1948) was one of the first electronic compositions of the 20th century,
which became very influential to modern day sampling. Corporations responsible for the creation
of musical instruments in early 20th century had no vocation for economic suicide (p.7 Simon
Emmerson, 1986), this led to them only adjusting existing instruments, therefore it was not viable
for the creation of new inventions; it was not in their best interests. Our civilization sees itself too
smugly in the mirror of history; it is no longer creating the needs which would make renewal an

considerable progression within the domains of sound reproduction tools and the sizeable
escalation of the recording industries; this developed electronic technology and in turn, developed
new styles of vernacular music. This technological innovation laid the foundations for new
vernacular music such genres as rock, hip hop, etc. Due to this development, where the existence
relied on electronics to produce the sound, musicians started to embrace technology. This
combination of science and music started to form a complex connection. Prior to first

A Revolution Is A Dramatic And Wide Reaching Change
A revolution is a dramatic and wide reaching change in the way something works or is organized
or in people s ideas about it. Mankind has experienced three life changing revolutions that Yuval
Noah Harari discusses in his book Sapiens. There has been a cognitive, an agricultural, and a
scientific revolution, and now Nick Bostrom explores in his book, Superintelligence, how life
would advance with a fourth one, a transhuman revolution. Finding the right path to artificial
intelligence(AI) will lead to advancements for humankind that in relation to the past three
revolutionscould result in the start of a new journey, or in the end of the life humans now know.
In relation to the previous three revolutions, the transhuman revolution will share many similarities
in the patterns that occurred in each revolution. The main foundation of any revolution is
cooperation, curiosity, and creativity by the people, and that serves to be true for the agricultural,
cognitive, and scientific revolutions and will be a main platform for the transhuman revolution as
well. Along with this, each past revolution has undergone an increase in collective intelligence.
Bostrom proves this when he states, Humanity has gained enormously in collective intelligence
over the course of history and prehistory. The gains come from many sources, including innovations

Laptop Multitasking
PSY 121
QALMRI
Sana, Weston, Cepeda (2013), Laptop multitasking hinders learning for both users and nearby peers.
Computers Education 62 (2013): 24 31.
Question: When referring to the article by Sana, Weston, Cepeda (2013), the reader will find both a
specific and broad question. The broad question being asked is whether or not memory retention is
hindered by multitasking. The specific questions being asked are whether or not students who use
laptops to multitask in class experience lower levels of information retention and if the multitasking
of some students negatively effects the memory retention of their surrounding peers.
Alternative: This study has one of four alternatives: multitasking could have no effect on learning in
all circumstances, it could only have an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Logic: If, in all circumstances, multitasking does not impact memory, then test scores will not be
affected by laptop use in class. If direct multitasking affects memory then test scores will be lower
in experiment 1. If indirect multitasking effects memory then test scores will be lower in
experiment 2.
Method: In Experiment 1, 44 undergraduate university students were chosen to participate in an
introductory psychology course lecture accompanied by a questionnaire. Only students with
access to a personal laptop were asked to join. Based on a screening process, four participants
were removed from the study. The experiment was carried out in a classroom setting under the
condition that participants had no prior knowledge or other disqualifying qualities. The materials
used were a power point lecture, a multiple choice test, laptops, instructions for multitasking, a
consent form, and a questionnaire. They were randomly seated and received a set of instructions
as well as a consent form. Students were asked to take notes while listening to the lecture. Half of
the participants were asked to complete 12 online tasks

Compare Dove And Olay
An eye catching, elaborate advertisement holds an important aspect of a successful business.
Advertisement not only spreads the word to potential buyers; nevertheless persuades consumers to
buy their product. The simple formula to creating an effective advertisement has to do with the
commercial s originality. Using different elements to portray a product entices viewers and
persuades them to purchase the product being advertised. Companies use different approaches and
elements to showcase their product in hope that consumers buy the product. An example would
be a company using a celebrity as a spokesperson hoping that the fans base feels motivation to
buy the product. Comparing and contrasting commercials that promote the same product can be
helpful for the consumer to pick which product would be worth purchasing. The two soap
companies, Dove and Olay, take different routes to portray their products such as attention
grabbing elements, the actress s involvement, and the message the commercial sends. The
company Olay takes a standard approach to appeal to consumers. In Olay s commercial,
repetitive vibrant colors and images are seen in the commercial. Large words such as like and love
are displayed continuously throughout the commercial. Olay uses the approach of using appealing
images and an upbeat song to persuade consumers to buy the soap. The upbeat background music
played in the Olay commercial along with pretty flowers flashing on the screen gives viewers a

Break A Leg Identity
A Mysterious Identity and Dark Humor Maintain Suspense in Break A Leg
By: Emma Morgan
Jesse Shamata s Break A Leg, which focuses on a hitman discussing his life philosophy with an
unknown subject, creates and sustains suspense through the combination of a hidden identity and
dark humor.
Concealing the identity of the person sitting with the main character a hitman is what makes this
short film particularly unique and intriguing. It s not often that a film leaves the viewer wondering
who the protagonist is talking to until its last few minutes. This technique builds suspense because
the viewer doesn t know what the hitman s intentions are in talking to this person, if this person
will be harmed by the end of the film, or even what this person looks like.
The extreme close ups of the hitman as he talks about harming people also add to this suspense
because they prevent the viewer from seeing much of the hitman s surroundings at the beginning of
the film. Instead, the viewer is forced to focus on the hitman s hardened appearance and his rough
voice. However, there are some shots of other characters reacting to what the hitman is saying ...

The viewer wonders why the hitman is going through the trouble of explaining his craft if his
goal is simply to injure or kill the person with whom he is talking. It seems especially odd that
the hitman would go on an extended tangent about being able to tell if a person is a folder or a
crumpler. (This is in reference to how a person uses toilet paper.) He relates this back to how much
control people want to have in their lives and how this affects them. This sequence, in particular,
utilizes a dark sense of humor. It forces the viewer to laugh at the absurdity of this conversation
about bathroom habits, while they remain frightened for whomever the hitman is telling this

What Was Milton Hershey s Path To Success
During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a time when business people created steel, oil and

Like every other entrepreneur, Milton Hershey had many obstacles and many slowdowns. Early
Life Milton S. Hershey was born on September 13, 1857, in Derry Township, Pennsylvania. He
was raised on a farm right across from Derry Church. He spent his early years following his

  • 2. Social Media s Influence On Marketing Depending on the virtual assistant you hire, bookkeeping and accounting may be their forte. Marketing Help These days it is hard to underestimate the importance of marketing. Effective marketing is key to success, especially in real estate. His full name was Hilaire Germain Edgar Degas. Degas went into practice law. The painting Two Dancer on a stage includes two dancers in standard ballet positions standing on a stage. However, there is another Ballerina who is cut off. This allow you to see that the painting is painted on an angle making it seem realistic. This makes the painting unique. The dancers in this painting are in full costume and mid dance showing that this is not a rehearsal rather a performance. The coloring of the painting is soft and is not bright. However, the dancer s costume are very bright with pink, yellow, and green. Fiero informs us that he never sacrificed line and form to the beguiling qualities of color and light (120). Hailed by nocturnal adventurers, condemned by raver idealists, is speed a sleepless dream or an addictive nightmare? Here at the end of the millennium, the pace of modern life seems fleeting a whirl of minutes, hours and days. In dealing with the changes, humans have equipped themselves with the tools to move faster, more efficiently. They have a name in the rave community, they are tweakers. Tweaking, the common name for sniffing lines of speed, the drug methamphetamine, (popular for its availability and price) has somehow replaced MDMA and LSD as the perfect rave drug, allowing users the clear head and stamina to keep dancing long after their bodies have gone to sleep. A prominent opinion during the aftermath of the Los Angeles Summer of Love was that speed killed the rave scene. Where speed had been seen in every scene from metal to the punk scene, for some reason it was shocking for some to see methamphetamine take hold, even though MDMA (an amphetamine like substance) had been circulating for years. Some likened the rise to the quash of young newcomers, some equated it with the greed of drug dealers. Judging from today s roster of events throughout the nation, raves are still alive and well. However, many old schoolers have been turned off by the newbie vibe that came with speed s rise in popularity. Some were casualties themselves of the drug s addictive nature. Others ... Bertrand says, the study of human relationships in his book Basic Sociology (1967:5), although, others argue that it is not that simple, such as R. Jenkins who says There are those for whom the fundamental building blocks of Sociological analysis can only be individuals, others for whom they must be collectivities in The foundations of Sociology(R. Jenkins: 15). Sociology brings together a number of different viewpoints from a wide range of sociologists. Although Auguste Come was the founder of the term Sociology , a number of different Sociologists, such as Durkheim and Marx, have challenged and changed perceptions about the term. Auguste Comte (1798 1857), a French social scientist inspired by changes that the French Revolution caused, was the key founder of Sociology as a concept and classed himself at the first official sociologist . The word sociology is a simple combination of two different words: Firstly, the word socius , which has Latin origins and a direct meaning of society, association, togetherness or companionship , and Secondly, the ancient Greek word, logos, which has a literal meaning of to speak about, or a word . Therefore, Comte defined Sociology, in the simplest form, as the study of society and culture . When considering the definition of resistance , historians divide themselves on what this entails; some believe it to be only active, armed resistance attempts, while others define it more liberally. This symbolic form of resistance is placed within Bauer s definition of resistance in that it entailed group demonstrations and protests actively opposed to the Nazi regime. Non violent resistance began to evolve as the Jews were transported to the concentration camps. Upon their initial arrival in the concentration camps, inmates attempted to aid each other in various ways, such as by giving those that were extremely malnourished extra food or attempting to lessen the workload on those that were weaker by taking their place; these acts, although not aimed directly against the SS, were simply keeping one another alive. These acts can be considered under Bauer s definition of resistance in that the groups motives in sustaining themselves as a whole was in direct opposition to the central idea of the SS to break down and destroy the Jewish population. These acts also helped lead to the later active, armed resistance in that they helped to keep inmates alive and maintain their strength, as well as providing them with a will to resist. I began by drawing the circle, a Mandala, I just didn t know it at the time, and the trunk of the tree. As I began filling in the outline of the tree limbs, I found myself thinking about my own family tree, and concluded the limbs in the tree with a strong sense of the connectedness of each person alive today. I chose to use vibrant and bright colors to silhouette the tree in oranges and yellows to represent the sun which provides for everything the tree needs to survive,... I had really wanted to try and draw concentric circles on the paper, and believed it would only look visually appealing if I had perfect circles, so I purchased a protractor on my way home from school that day to try in this Mandala. I initially drew the larger outer circle, then drew smaller and smaller circles until I made it to the middle. I noticed that the tip of the protractor had actually pierced a hole through the paper and as I looked though the tiny hole I was inspired to turn the entire Mandala into somewhat of an eye, so I drew a pupil in the middle. I then chose to work with colored pencil and fill the rest of the page with colors. I used a brown color in the middle to go along with the eye theme, but then I decided to make the entry more intricate and drew squiggly lines in the next circle, followed by a complex kaleidoscope pattern. I wanted to progressively return the patterns back to a simpler and calmer design, and ended up with a yellow star near the outer edge, almost looking as if it is the setting in which the eye had been mounted, like a stone in a ring. For me, this gave the Mandala a very stable feeling, I feel as though without it, the image may begin to swirl. I also chose to set the Mandala into a softly swirling background. I found that I really enjoy making Mandalas and that it does not have to be geometrically perfect to still be visually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Things gradually got less weird as the night went on but for the most part you can imagine that it was still pretty uncomfortable. • 25. Marketing Ethics Into The Marketing Process Ethical Marketing Ethical marketing refers to the application of marketing ethics into the marketing process. Ethical marketing is about making marketing decisions that are morally right. The ethics of the marketing decision can incorporate any part of marketing including sourcing of raw materials, staff employment and product advertising and pricing. Sound marketing ethics are usually those that result in consumer satisfaction, with no negative effect, with the goods and services being recognized or with the company producing them. Ethical marketing generally results in a more socially responsible and culturally thoughtful business community. The concern with ethical issues has changed the attitude of the world towards a more socially responsible way of thinking. This has influenced companies to market their products in a more socially responsible way. Ethical marketing is less of a marketing strategy and more of a way of life that enlightens all marketing efforts. It seeks to promote honesty, fairness, and responsibility in all advertising. Some businesses pursue ethical marketing because they feel that is what customers expect from them. Some consumers buy products and services because they feel that the products, services, or companies are ethical. In response to this consumer demand, organizations have increased their focus on ethical marketing. Marketing employees must be aware of the principles of self interest and personal virtues. Before civilizations began and industrialization spread, all that was in the world was nature and man. There have been many cases to humans acting out of pure righteousness by standing by and supporting their true and sincere morals, whereas others have revealed the deep evil within us through acts of brutality, savagery, or manipulation. Percy Bysshe Shelley one wrote, Power, like a desolating pestilence, Pollutes whate er it touches . This quote expresses Shelley s opinion that power does not come without corruption. It tells the story of a shy waitress, played by Audrey Tautou, who decides to change the lives of those around her for the better, while struggling with her own isolation. We see the progression of Amelie s character from childhood to adulthood. The opening sequence of the film gives an insight of Amelie s childhood and establishes the main characters and their traits. Young Amelie s traits are established in different scenes of the opening sequence, for example a mid shot is used as the opening credits start and young Amlie is framed alone. We see a stream of games young Amelie used to play, like making silly faces, dominoes and finger games. These games belong to the knowledge of everyone, everyone can recognise them. Rhetorical Devices In The Gettysburg Address One of the most widely quoted and upheld speeches of all time was the Gettysburg address given by Abraham Lincoln in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on November 19, 1863. To completely understand the speech and why it was written the way it was you would first need to understand the history of Abraham Lincoln himself. Also needed, would be to understand the specific writing styles and words commonly used in that day and age. The style in particular was largely adapted from ancient Greek literature and Rhetoric. This was widely taught in schools during the 1800 s and most is still taught today. This style and word usage was used by many authors of that time, such as Frederick Douglas to which I will refer to in later parts of this work. Abraham Lincoln was born to a poor farming family and worked on his father s farm for most of his young life. Going to school was not an option for Abraham but this did not stop him. At a very young age, Abraham began reading and did not stop. Abraham would continue to read the bible, Shakespeare and many other pieces of literature popular in that time. I believe that the most beneficial teachings Abraham would endure was that of grammar. Grammar taught in those days included basic punctuation all the way to Rhetoric. Rhetorical devices such as repetition, asyndeton and the use of metaphors were all taught thoroughly. One can clearly see these devices in use in nearly every writing and speech produced by Lincoln. Communication is important in relationships because it is the key to success. Poor communication can bring up many issues in a relationship like unnecessary arguments, unhappiness and in worse case scenarios separation. Mankind has experienced three life changing revolutions that Yuval Noah Harari discusses in his book Sapiens. There has been a cognitive, an agricultural, and a scientific revolution, and now Nick Bostrom explores in his book, Superintelligence, how life would advance with a fourth one, a transhuman revolution. In relation to the previous three revolutions, the transhuman revolution will share many similarities in the patterns that occurred in each revolution. The main foundation of any revolution is cooperation, curiosity, and creativity by the people, and that serves to be true for the agricultural, cognitive, and scientific revolutions and will be a main platform for the transhuman revolution as well. Along with this, each past revolution has undergone an increase in collective intelligence. Bostrom proves this when he states, Humanity has gained enormously in collective intelligence over the course of history and prehistory.
