The document provides analysis of several shots from a film. The shots are all very dark and gloomy, representing death and a lack of hope. They show homeless people in the city, indicating these characters will be important. They also show two women talking who appear drunk and vulnerable. Later shots show a car driving at night, with the driver seeming cautious of police, implying he may do something illegal. The final shot revisits one of the women, confirming her important role and emphasizing how isolated and vulnerable she is as the man stalking her knows where she lives.

1.
2. In this shot you can see its really dark and gloomy. The overpowering dark
colors represent death, therefore foreshadowing someone may die later
on. The setting confirms the film will take place in a poor urban location, to
indicate high levels of friction between pedestrians as there's not much
space/freedom. The two men arguing is a prime example of the friction
that lies in urban an settings. The view is a long shot at camera eye level
with the men which proposes that someone is watching/looking at them
from a distance, in a low-key way.
3. The shot is again very dark, and gloomy which represents and foreshadows
death that may occur later on. All the action is focused on the two women
talking to each other as the sound of their voices are overpowering other
sounds in the scene. We realise that they are drunk or tipsy, which
indicates that their vulnerable and can easily be taken advantage of.
4. This shot is even darker and blurry than the other shots, signifying that
things are going to turn bad. The shot is taken from a car which confirms
that the previous shots were taken from this car, therefore telling us the
man was looking at/for the women. The extreme longshot of the scenery
gives the audience a greater understanding of where the location of the
film is set, which appears to be a very busy, city.
5. The dark tunnel the car is going through has a low density of cars and
population, which expresses how late at night it is, and for someone in a
car following girls at this time of night, wont be a positive situation. The
tunnel is really dark but lighten up with the streets light and car lights
which indicates there is still a little bit of hope. For the first time we see a
forward view from the drivers perspective which gives us a better insight of
where he's heading.
6. This shot focuses on homeless pedestrians within the city, which can
represent a n umber of things. The dark and gloomy setting emphasizes
the lack of hope within the homeless community Firstly it signifies that the
characters within the film have no hope, as the homeless people don’t
have hope themselves. Secondly it shows that the homeless pedestrians
may have a vital role in the film, and the driver of the car may have
had/has a common struggle or similarities the homeless may have.
7. This shot again shows homeless pedestrians living and surviving on the
streets which emphasizes their importance of the film even further. It also
shows the lack of hopelessness within the city, as homeless pedestrians in
scenes are becoming a bit of an occurrence.
8. The common occurrences of seeing homeless people hopelessly sleeping
and taking shelter on the street just continues to build up a huge lack of
hope within the city. It also emphasizes that the homeless will have a vital
role within the film, that’ll impact the film greatly.
9. This shot shows a police car in the background of the main drivers wing-
view mirror, which indicates that the driver is being very cautious of his
surroundings. If he’s being cautious and aware of the police this tells us,
the audience, that he’s going to commit a crime, or do something that’ll
be seen or deemed as wrong. Also the police car being spotted on the
streets is pretty rare in a typical city, whereas it seems to be pretty
common if the driver has seen one. This indicates the city may be prone to
violent acts, which are seen wrong by the law.
10. The reappearance of the women from the start of the film opening, has
confirmed she is a main character which will have a vital role to play within
the film. Throughout the scenes it’s always been dark and gloomy
indicating death throughout the film. This is because colors such as black
are linked with high (negative) power such as the devil and evil. The high
camera angle shows the isolation of the woman and how vulnerable she is
in her current situation. The longshot also makes the women appear small
which empathizes how vulnerable the women really is. The women looks
as if she's going into a building in which the man is stalker her from which
indicates the man knew where she lived already and has planned his future
actions for her.
