• In 1991. Ministry of Commerce, Government of
India, approached Institute of Rural
Management, Anand (IRMA) for a project report
for a new institution for the plantation sector. I
was assigned the task for preparation of this
report. Report was accepted by the Ministry and
thus Indian Institute of Plantation Management
was established in 1993 at Bangalore. It was
sponsored by Tea Board, Coffee Board, Rubber
Board and Spice Board

Women’s Institute for Development Oriented
Management (WISDOM) at Banasthali Vidyapith,
Banasthali, Rajasthan, 1996
• WISDOM was established at Banasthali
Vidyapith in 1996 on the basis of a Workshop
and interactive discussions at Banasthali
University in March 1996 and a project report
was prepared. I was involved in the Workshop
discussions and preparation of the project
report.

“Western Windows Eastern Doors” provided a
basis for curriculum design

Broad Objectives of the Institute
In consonance with its foundational principles, the
following are the broad objectives of the institute:
1. To train women for managerial positions.
2. To train women in entrepreneurial tasks of setting
up industry, organizations and institutions
3. To undertake research and consultancy with a view
to augment knowledge base keeping in view the specific
requirements of women's issue and cultural moorings.
Current Status
• WISDOM is a leading institute with its alumni
working in different sections of Indian society
and the Corporate world. Many alumni are
working abroad and are also working in
academic field.
