It might feel like you don't have the time or resources to conduct usability testing and design resources, but here are a couple hacks and the benefits of doing so.
On June 2 Daredevelis organised the first edition of #Hookedfest in Ghent. Hookedfest is all about bringing digital minded people together to talk about the proces involved in product design and service design
There’s never been a better time to be a designer. After years of wishing we’d have the recognition and appreciation for the value we bring, we’re now highly sought after for our talents and skills. A growing number of organizations have seen success through great design, from Apple to Cirque de Soleil to the White House. Others now want to get the same results. The demand for great designers has never been better.
Yet, as the proverb says, “Be careful for what you wish for, lest it become true.” Now that everyone expects us to deliver great things, are we ready? While we’re presented with more opportunities than ever, we also have increased challenges.
Creating great experiences needs a new breed of designer. One that can handle all the skills involved, from visual design to coding. Some might even call it a 'unicorn', but these creatures aren't mythical. In fact, they are alive and thriving in today's design teams.
Jared M. Spool, User Interface Engineering’s Founding Principal, will delight and entertain you as he explores the vast opportunities and interesting challenges UX professionals are now facing. If you’ve seen Jared present before, you know why this presentation is something not to be missed.

Some is better than none product camp - aug 2019Amir Ansari
I had the pleasure of attending the amazing #pcampmelb 2019 un-conference ran by @Product Anonymous Group. My talk on importance of user / customer research via qualitative methods (e.g. interviews) was selected by attendees. Conducting such research (even if very small, quick and sharp) can go a long way in ensuring you make the right product decisions and de-risk building a product based on internal assumptions and anecdotes.
My talk was to help product people and practitioners fight the good fight and arm themselves with rationale when they encountered resistance.

This case study on SecureWorks tells you what you need to know and how to apply analytics to your content. Content Marketing World 2016 session with Kira Mondrus, SecureWorks and Adam Needles, ANNUITAS

You tell your story best, right? Not always. Your existing clients and customers can often provide inspiration for your most powerful content and story ideas. That is, if you let them. This session will help you discover compelling and engaging new content that literally speaks the language of your best customers. See real-life examples of customer-inspired content, how they evolved and how to weave similar storytelling techniques into your own organization’s content marketing.

Design thinking Course by Dharam MentorDharam Mentor
What drives Dharam in his professional life is practically proving how 'Good Design thinking' translates into 'Good Business' to entrepreneurs, business owners, and startups. He has acquired his master's in Branding degree from the University of the Arts London and is also an alumnus of the prestigious London College of Communication.
Storytelling has always been a core component of public relations, but we can't rely on "tried and true" tactics to disseminate those stories. By adding a layer of technology, storytelling has evolved into "content marketing" -- a highly effective PR strategy. This presentation offers three examples of PR-driven content marketing that generated measurable, bottom-line results.

Designing The Listening Experience: The Making of NPR OneDaniel Newman
As presented on October 6, 2015 at HOW Interactive Design Conference in Chicago.
NPR One is a personalized audio experience designed to be heard. If we are doing our job well, then you likely aren’t even looking at your device. But being out-of-sight creates a unique set of constraints for building a mobile app. How do we craft an experience for that is audio-first? How do we design interfaces that are simple, content-first, and easy-to-understand, even if they're only used once in awhile? And how does the team work to evolve the experience and add new features while avoiding bloat and retaining the focus that is the hallmark of the app?
In this session, l'll discuss the evolution of NPR’s new digital radio platform, from inception to obstacles to examples of interactions built for listening. I'll talk about team dynamics and process, user research and A/B test findings, and delve into the paths not taken. Ultimately, you'll be able to learn from our successes and missteps as we continue to build the ultimate audio news and storytelling experience.

Building Character: Creating Consistent Experiences With Design PrinciplesAdam Connor
Inconsistency is one of the most common points of breakdown and frustration in the interactions and experiences we have. Whether we’re interacting with other people, applications, our bank, our doctor, our government, anyone, we form expectations and understandings of what someone or something will do based on our previous experiences and their past behaviors. When something happens that doesn’t fit with those expectations–that seems out of character–we’re caught off guard. What do we do next? What should we expect now?
Principles act as rules that guide how we think and act. Formed by our motivations, values and beliefs, we use them as “lenses” through which we examine information in order to make decisions on what to do. And because of their persistent influence on our behavior, they influence other’s views and expectations of us. Using these same kinds of constructs throughout the design process we can design interactions and consistent behaviors that set and live up to expectations for our audiences.
