Have you tried to create a dynamic directory of all your faculty, staff or employees and not quite been able to pull it off? Using a combination of XSLT and Velocity (mainly because I didn't know any better) we did. Best of all, each of our faculty can update their own page and the information automatically updates on each of our faculty lists. When implemented correctly, this directory takes the work of keeping info current and up to date off the developer, and puts it in the hands of the ones who actually have the information!

Charles M. Grisham: Protein Structure and Function Explorations (PSAFE): Show...
It is difficult to find productive ways to introduce undergraduate students in biochemistry courses to state-of-the-art technologies. The PSAFE project is focused on this goal. Since Fall 2010, students in BIOL 5010 and CHEM 4410 (both biochemistry lecture courses) have undertaken special semester-long projects that introduce them to high-end software for molecular modeling of proteins and nucleic acid-protein complexes. Students are assigned a specific protein (different for each student) that becomes their object of study and interest for the semester. Since 2010, more than 700 students in these two courses have successfully completed a PSAFE project, with approximately 250 more to come in each future year. The complete collection of PSAFE projects is now archived in UVaCollab and available on the Web. In this presentation Professor Grisham will give an overview of the course and his use of UVaCollab for archiving and showcasing student work.

Librarians at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville have been engaged in an ongoing discovery improvement project encompassing the website, catalog, database lists and more, all based on extensive user feedback. The presenters will share successful strategies for evaluating and improving discovery, no expensive software or programming skills necessary.

BYOC Beginners Guide

They have continued maintaining and expanding the guides with the co-op student's manual. The migration to LibGuides 2 was done following Springshare's guidelines to retain customizations. Database assets now simplify updating the A-Z list across guides. Overall, LibGuides 2 is easier to maintain though customization options are more limited than previously.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

- 3. WHAT WE HAD • 5 Departments (Biology, Chemistry, Geology/Geography, Mathematics, Physics) • Over 150 Faculty • Updates – Emailed them uploaded • Pages were: • Unorganized • Out of date • Unnecessary Burden
- 4. WHAT WE HAVE

WHAT WE HAVE • Each faculty member has a department page. • Each page uses a standard layout, but is flexible for departments • Each department has a correct and up to date list of all faculty. • All pages are in one central location. • Updates handled by departments/faculty so burden is spread instead of being on one person
- 7. WHAT WE HAVE • Main Faculty Folder • Each department has a folder • Each Faculty has a folder under each department • Faculty Folders consist of Index page, photo folder and optional Research page folder • They can also link to their research page
- 8. WHAT WE HAVE • Each department has a Faculty Index Page. • This page pulls info from each faculty page within the departments folder. • Creates a dynamic and up to date list of all faculty. • List changes as individual pages are changed.

- 10. WHAT WE HAVE • Built the Individual Faculty Pages • Built separate Asset Factories for each department • Data Definition, Configuration Set and Content type are all specific to each department. • Faculty can link to their “Research” or “Lab” pages from here.
- 11. HOW WE DID IT • One Index page for each department • Pulls the needed info from each faculty member’s page/folder and organizes it. • Used Velocity for the formatting • Some also have page organized by research area • Built to fit each department • ZERO UPDATING!
