Craftbomb week 2013 involved covering public spaces in Penicuik, UK and other areas with colorful crocheted and knitted items to brighten the community. Over months, volunteers decorated sculptures, trees, vehicles and streets to bring joy and lift spirits. Their efforts garnered local and national attention and received positive feedback from residents who appreciated the quirky additions to the town.

With yarn did we paint
Our dreary street
Into a brilliant feat
We are Funny and funky!
Ye think we are wonky?
Aw nay - we are just wacky
To brighten up what is tacky!
Young and old -
We grew bold!
And let it be told:
We won't leave you cold!
The weather might be mirky
Windy and wild
Yet yer streets were quirky
With wool so mild.

11. Many a hand
Did we lend
Now we stand
Tall and proud
So carry now on
And shout it aloud:
Penicuik cold
Grew warm and bold !
Bright was the sight
In day and in night
So glad you liked it
And we did make it.
Brightening up
Bringing joy
Lifting us
from the drudge
For a wee while..
