OUR ASPIRATION

Develop  awareness  of and  appreciation  for arts of various cultures Develop ability for  creative expression  through  visual and performing arts Provide the basis to develop an  informed  and  life-long involvement  in arts
AESTHETICS DEPARTMENT -  PROGRAMMES
 
 
 
 
 
Each music class is transformed into an  INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLE .  Pupils  PERFORM  during level performance day to showcase their musicianship.  TEAMWORK, CONFIDENCE  and  MUSICALITY  are developed in the pupils.
Pupils are equipped with the knowledge and skills of  MUSIC-MAKING PROCESS . It provides a more  HOLISTIC, INSIGHTFUL  and  INTERACTIVE  music learning experience Pupils  compose and arrange  music, displaying their  CREATIVITY  and  PASSION  in music.
 
Canberra Primary is proud to have a  Biannual School Musical  @ The Republic Cultural Centre . 2007:  Tree of Life 2009: Canberra Goes Musical 2011: Dare to Dream
Pupils’ talents was showcased through  singing ,  acting  as well as  dancing .  All our hardwork was paid off when we saw the audience  smile, laugh and cry  with us.  We hope to share the  Canberra spirit  with the rest of world and  ignite the arts within everyone .

  • #2 Greetings to you, all newly posted-in teachers and school leader. This presentation aims to give you an overview of our Aesthetics Department , and a slightly more insight of our Music Curriculum . You will also be going / have gone through another presentation on Visual Art, prepared by our LH (Visual Art), Mr. Rahmat. Thus, this presentation will not provide in-depth details on the programmes of Visual Art.

  • #7 These are the goals we had in mind when we plan our aesthetics programmes and projects.
  • #10 We aim to expose all Canberrians to Arts through arts experiences and enrich those who have the potential so that they would have the opportunity to realise their talents.
  • #11 Our PAL programme caters to P1 and P2 pupils. The pupils will come to school at 10am on their stipulated PAL day instead of the usual 12.30pm. Visual Art – 4 sessions Dance – 8 sessions Music – 8 sessions Besides engaging in arts activities, we also have PAL (PE) programme which introduces Wu-Shu and Gymnastics.
  • #12 Within our Canberra Arts Curriculum, we have visual art, music and drama lessons. For Visual Art curriculum, it will be presented to you in another presentation. Drama in curriculum is offered to all P1 – P2 pupils. We will looking into the possibilities of extending it to the upper Primary levels in 2012. With collaboration with the EL department, it would be an exciting year for drama- enthusiasts in 2012. This table shows an overview of our Music Curriculum.
  • #13 Pupils will receive an overall music grade at the end of each year. The overall music grade comprises of different components as listed in the table. It includes the different aspects of music learning: performing, listening, concepts, creating and appreciating.
  • #14 Primary 1 and 2 – Handchimes (2012: new programme); Percussion (2011 and before) Primary 3 – Ukulele Primary 4 and 5 - Recorder
