Course Description:
This subject explores concepts of social environment that impact to any individual.
We will learn basic theories about sociology, sociological issues such as gender, race,
ethnicity, deviance, and social change.


General Purpose:
The course aims at enabling participants to
   1. Have a better understanding on social dynamic
   2. Consider the internal and external factors that influence our society


Conditions to be able to sit the final exam are:
   1. Do not miss over 3 classes during the whole course
   2. Submit all the assignments. If you failed to submit any of the assignments you
       will not be allowed to pass the course and won’t be allow to sit the final exam.
   3. Assignment will not be marked if submit over 1 week late

Assessments


  • On-going assessment. Weekly Diary (20%): You will be given out simple
      questions to reflect on what you have learnt each week and you will submit
      them on a following week. Example questions. What is your dream society?
      What would make this society become a happy place again



  •   Group project (45%): 3 and 10
      September: “Breaking a normal behavior”
      and “The effect of peoples obedience to
      signs?”
        o Go out in public, break social norms and
          document it with your iphone or video
          camera. Present in class how people
          around you react, and how your action
          creates this meaningful event. You need to
          present at least 3 different scenarios.

  •   Final Exam (20%): TBA

  •   Class      participation      (10%):     Class
      Attendance and participation during the
      discussion. Students who often come to class
      late or do not respect the class environment
      will be given lower marks or zero marks.

  •   Field trip (5%): 17th September 2011.
      Ayutthaya trip
