The traditional costumes of Goa are influenced by the tropical climate and reflect its cultural heritage. For women, the main costumes are the 9-yard sari and pano bhaju, worn with traditional jewelry. During summer, lightweight cotton is preferred. In winter, sweaters or light woolen jackets are sufficient due to the mild temperatures from December to February. The Koli fishermen wear colorful striped shirts, pants, and hats made of bamboo bark. Designs show Portuguese and local influences, incorporating bright colors, patchwork, motifs of aquatic life and flowers in materials like lungis.
