In our production, our main protagonist is
shown as a young girl who is in her teens.
In order to stick to the conventions of a
horror, we decided to have a wide contrast
between the protagonists costume and the
antagonists (unknown figure)
Majority of horror films tend to select a specific outfit for young girls, when they are the main
protagonist in order to portray their character as weak and to give the idea that this character
will be targeted which is what the audience usually assume when watching horrors.
The costume of the character tends to reveal some
sort of clue of their age and their personality and role
within the film.
We decided to choose a childish costume for Zoe to
make it obvious that she is a young teenager, still at
school but at the age to be left home alone without
any company needed.
The tom and Jerry t shirt represents her to be jolly and a
happy individual as well as immature and still young. This makes
her look innocent in the film compared to the
antagonists costume.

Overall, There is a vast amount of detail and a good
amount of colour.
The t shirt is pink with bold red writing and her jeans are navy
which delivers a positive outlook on her character
In comparison to Zoe’s costume, the antagonist (played by Shania)
has a very simple costume with no detail which represents
her character to be more negative.
We thought we would stick to the costumes that horrors tend
to use for their antagonists which are usually a bed duvet,
or white sheets / plain coloured clothing, usually black or white to
show them as a more frightful character in which the protagonist
is seen weak and powerless against.
As her hair is long and black, we decided that she should wear a
plain white jumper with hardly any detail in order to allow
her to stand out more when behind the mirror
We were aware that the jumper says ‘CROSS MY HEART’ so as
editor, I will edit the colour of the scene in order to fade out the
letters on her clothes.
