2. • A conjunction is a joiner, a word that connects
parts of a sentence.
• There are three basic types of conjunctions.
– coordinating conjunctions used to connect two
independent clauses,
– subordinating conjunctions used to connect the
dependent clause and the rest of the sentence,
and
– correlative conjunctions which always travel in
pairs, and join sentence parts that should be
treated as equal.

3. Correlative CONJUNCTIONS
• Some conjunctions combine with other words to form
what are called correlative conjunctions. They always
travel in pairs, joining sentence parts that should be
treated as equal.

4. Common Correlative Conjunctions
either . . . orneither . . . nor
not only . . . but alsoboth . . . and

5. She loves both swimming and running.
(Dia suka baik renang maupun lari.)

6. The man is neither handsome nor faithful.
(Pria itu tidak tampan ataupun setia.)

7. Either Nisa or her mother is a scientist.
(Entah Nisa atau ibunya adalah ilmuwan.)

8. He can drive not only a car but also a helicopter.
(Dia tidak hanya bisa mengemudi mobil tapi juga
helikopter.)
