CrossMark is a service that allows publishers to provide additional updated metadata about scholarly articles, such as funding data, ORCIDs, and license information. Publishers deposit CrossMark metadata for over 3.3 million articles. This metadata is displayed through an embedded button that shows any extra information chosen by the publisher. The information stays with the article and can be accessed on or off the publisher's site. Over 300 publishers currently use CrossMark to help ensure researchers have the most up-to-date information and that nearly 1000 article retractions are more visible.
