2. Essay on Costing Procedure of Flooring Contrator
You can t take it anymore. If you have to look at those scratches in the living room
floor, the foot traffic stains down the hallway, the Kool aid stains under the dining
room table, or the chipped tile in the kitchen one more time, you might go off the
edge and wind up in the looney bin. You are tired of going to a friend s home and
secretly envying their perfect looking floors. Gone are the days of flipping through
magazines and drooling over the pictures of nicely decorated rooms with flooringthat
looks amazing. So you ask your friend what company did their floor and how much it
cost, not to be nosey, but to get an idea. After perusing the flooring aisle of your local
home improvement store and deciding on the type you want to use,... Show more

Labor per square foot is the given rate per square foot of floor area. Initial Preparatory
Work involves all actions required to be completed before the contractor can begin
working on the floor. There are three parts to this section. Initially, all the furniture
and fixtures (toilet, sinks not attached to walls) need to be removed. Depending on
the quantity/size of furniture/fixtures that need to be removed, contractors will
typically charge between $15 and $50 per hour. Customers can cut out this cost if
they agree to have the items removed prior to the contractor arriving. However, if it
is agreed upon and the items are not removed, the contractor will usually charge
150% of the normal rate, because this will add additional time to the job, causing
him to possibly run behind schedule for another job, and he schedules jobs based
on time estimates. The next part is the removal and disposal of the existing floor.
The price for this can range from $25 to $75 per hour, based on the type of flooring
being removed. Carpet and vinyl are easy to remove, thus would be on the low
end. Tile is more difficult because mortar is used to install it and all of that has to
be broken up and removed. Again, the customer can save during this phase if they
do the removal themselves, with the same penalty if not removed prior to the
contractor arrival. The final part of this phase is repairing the subfloor. Costs for
this repair vary greatly on what needs to be repaired, and are usually
3. The Giver Comparison To A Dystopian Society
Two Become One
Dystopia contains a little utopia, and every utopia contains a little dystopia. It s very
true , a thought by Margaret Atwood, a canadian novelist, stating that in every
society, utopian and dystopian qualities are seen. Margaret brings to account the
controversy of how our world is a dystopia and utopia. There is always an illusion of
a utopia and dystopia in the world, without those illusions the world would not
contain the beauty it is today. In both societies there are similar and different aspects
to a dystopia and utopian world at the cause of suicide, and the abundance of
individuality.
Living in today s society is similar to a dystopian world as a result of immense mental
pain causing suicide. In The Giver by Lois Lowry, Jonas mentor, explains how he

In the dystopian novel The Giver, by Lois Lowry, the ability to express yourself is
looked upon as a transgression. Jonas begins share his ideas with his mentor, the

[he wants] to wake up in the morning and decide things (Lowry 123).
Personalization is important and so is social development which Jonas
community lacks. It is a way of personal freedom and self expression. Individuality
in today s society allows anyone to choose their own importance in today s world.
Diversity is celebrated and helps [encourage] ordinary people to realize their
potential and their inner depths. (Koch 16). Jonas believes that without choices life
is very dull while society today has the individual freedom to express our emotion.
The strict laws created by the Elders requires their citizens to take a pill that numbs
feelings and passion which decreases individual creativity. People today value on

4. Positive Influences Of Sports Participation
Bradley, Keane and Crawford proved the positive influences of sport participation in
402 Irish secondary school students on the Leaving Certificate. The no sport group,
forming the control group, compared to the soccer and rugby team had slightly lower
test scores in the Leaving Certificate, whereas the only individual sport, rowing, was
significantly higher then the other two groups (Bradley, et al., 2013). In this study,
rowing, as the only individual sport tested, proved higher test results, which is not to
be forgotten that there exist limitations in the study such as no comparison to another
individual sport, the no comparison to another school, and the relatively small
number of rowers on a team.
It is interesting to see that the kind of sport makes a difference of the academic
performance (Bradley, et al., 2013). There has been years, where the scores of the
rowing team were pretty low but compared to either one of these other 3 sports they
were still on top (Bradley, et al., 2013). Especially in individual sports, athletes score
high in conscientiousness and autonomy, which are seen as key indicators for
athletes (Bradley, et al., 2013). This is equivalent to the key factors for high
achievers, which consist of high levels in conscientiousness and extraversion
(Colquitt Simmering, 1998 in Bradley, et al., 2013). Greater motivation to learn has
been shown in high conscientious individuals, which are characterized as more
reliable, self disciplined, and persevering

medical science is applied to manage the diabetes and what advancements have been

Diabetes is a disease caused by homoeostatic imbalance where endocrine system
cannot naturally maintain the right blood glucose level. Diabetes represents a
defect in metabolism or an inability to use and store energy correctly. People have
trouble regulating their blood glucose levels. There are two main forms of diabetes:
type 1 diabetes, and type 2 diabetes. Type I diabetes is also referred to as juvenile
onset or more commonly insulin dependent diabetes. In this disease, the immune
system all of a sudden attacks and permanently destroys the insulin producing cells of
the pancreas. While in Type 2 diabetes, internal balance gets disrupted either because
the body is not producing enough insulin or the cells in the body are not responding
to the insulin.
While genetics are the primary cause of Type 1 diabetes also called mature onset ,
Type II diabetes is caused by poor lifestyle choices. Type 2 diabetes is also
normally called Mature Onset as it is commonly diagnosed in people over the age of
45. With the obesity levels growing in western nations including Australia, the
incidents of teen age and children developing type 2 diabetes has also become more
frequent. The bodies of the diabetic persons do not produce enough insulin to regulate
the blood sugar level.
Glucose is the primary source of energy for the cells in our bodies, but it s too big to
distribute into the cells alone. Alternatively, it needs to be transported into the cells.
Insulin is a hormone

9. Sectarian Issues In Iraq
Sectarian identities did not have much power within the political elite in the early
part of the 20th century in Iraq. Those whose affiliations lay strongly towards the
political zeitgeist did not see much significance in sectarian identities. Nonetheless,
this is not to say that sectarian issues did not exist at all. In the latter 50 years of the
20th century, marginalization took place in Iraq, especially those whose lives were
heavily intertwined within the religious and social aspects of Sunnism. The Shia
Iraqi grew towards authoritarianism, much in the same way that they sought to create
a homogenized Iraqi state (Joffe). Before 2003, Sunni Muslims in Iraq were not a
recognized identity with any meaningful structure worthy to be mentioned. In
essence, they had no place in government, neither did they have any say in structures
that dealt with religion, as well as social aspects.... Show more content on

Thus, the bone of contention in all this was that Sunnis never viewed themselves as a
sect, but Shias had a differentiated opinion of them, viewing them as a sect, both in
identity and in expression (Joffe). Thus, the Shias felt more coerced towards their
identity much more than the Sunnis were. In addition, characteristics of sectarianism,
which include leaders and symbols, as well as rituals, together with myths found no
footing in Sunnism, but were present in plenty among the Shias. Thus, the effort to
take control of secularism, which was christened anti sectarianism, did not bear an
intention of equal censor amongst both Sunnis , as well as Shias

This chapter discusses the research literature review on the roles of physical
environment, price perception and service quality in determining customer loyalty.
Chapter 2 will includes the headings: the SERVQUAL model, the physical
environment, price perception, what is customer satisfaction and what is customer
loyalty.
2.1 The SERVQUAL model. Delivering an excellent customer servicethat meets the
customers need allows the customer to come back and repurchase the products. In
determining the customer service quality, Parasuraman, Zeithaml, and Berry (1985)
have comes out with ten components to evaluate customer service quality: reliability,
responsiveness, competence, access, courtesy, communication, credibility, security,
understanding/knowing the customer and tangibles. Later these ten key categories
were summaries to five dimensions of service quality which also known as
SERVQUAL: reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy and tangibles.
According to Kulasin (2005), the definition of each dimensions are as follow:
Dimensions
Definition
Reliability
The ability to perform the promised service dependably and accurately
Assurance
The knowledge and courtesy of employees and their ability to convey trust and
confidence
Tangibles
The appearance of physical facilities, equipment, personnel and communication
materials
Empathy
The provision of caring, individualized attention to customers
Responsiveness
The willingness to help customers and to provide prompt service
11. Economy During The Gilded Age
Although the economic growth of the United States in the gilded age has been
attributed to individual hard work and a government policy of laissez faire, it was in
fact encouraged and sustained by direct government intervention.
During the Gilded Age, robber barons dominated the scene through industrialism and
capitalism at the expense of consumers in the U.S. The United States economy rapidly
expanded and experienced astounding growth due to the ambition of many greedy
men. The government adopted the policy of laissez faire, an attitude of letting things
take their own course, to generate industrial wealth. With the U.S economy growing
and its instability just as much, direct government intervention encouraged and
sustained the economy by passing reform acts. The Gilded Age, yet filled with
corruption, was a marvelous time period for the U.S. economy. In this era, an
immense wealth was accumulated by a number of individuals, such as J.P Morgan ...

Southern Masculinity in Faulkner s The Unvanquished
The narrator of Faulkner s The Unvanquished is apparently an adult recounting his
childhood. The first person narrator is a child at the story s outset, but the narrative
voice is lucid, adult. Telling the story of his childhood allows the narratorto
distinguish for the reader what he believed as a child from what he know[s] better
now (10). The difference affords an examination of dominant southern masculinity as
it is internalized by Bayard and Ringo, and demonstrates the effects on the boys of
the impossible ideal.
The initial indication that narrator Bayard may be an adult recounting his childhood

As children, neither Bayard nor Ringo would possess the capacity for critical
thinking necessary to employ the linguistic precision demonstrated above.Children
think more abstractly, in grander and simpler terms. For example, they may take
role models unreflectively; Bayard and Ringo play act as General Van Dorn and
General Pemberton, but they obviously do not understand why these men are their
heroes. Based on what they have been told, and wholly independent of reality, the
boys have constructed a General Pemberton that represents good and a General
Grant that represents evil. By rule, Bayard plays the good guy twice for every
single time Ringo gets to. The unfairness of this rule is apparently as lost on the
boys as the idea that in the context of this game, Grant would make a more suitable
good guy for Ringo.
The disparities in their relationship are apparently unnoticed by both Bayard and
Ringo. They think that they are equals. They had been born in the same month and
had both fed at the same breast and had slept together and eaten together until they
felt like brothers. They are not brothers, though. When Sartoris comes home in spring,
both boys run to meet the man they look up to as a father, and they enter, Bayard
standing in one stirrup with Father s arm around me, and Ringo holding to the other
stirrup and running beside the horse (8). Later we find that the boys do sleep
together, Bayard on a bed, and
13. Three Examples Of Emotional Abuse
There are several types of abuse when it comes to emotional abuse. It happens all
around this world. Emotional abuse is commonly defined as a pattern of behavior
by parents that interferes with a child s emotional, physical, psychological, or social
behavior. Emotional abuse takes on many forms including rejecting, degrading,
terrorizing, isolating, exploiting, and denying attention or love. All types of
emotional abuse involve adult caregivers using power to control a child, adolescent,
or teen who depends on them (Newton 19). One person once said being emotionally
abused made them feel worthless, and it made them feel like they had no reason to
be here.
Physical, mental, and verbal abuse are three different examples of emotional abuse. ...

Sometimes adults are not able to care for a child because of they are too busy, they
have addictions, or they have stress. When a parent or authority figure places
unreasonable, excessive or impossible demands on the child, uses intimidation and
aggressive methods or uses verbal attacks it can be considered emotional abuse.
Emotional abuse can also mean psychological or emotional neglect. When the parent
or caregiver denies the child love, guidance, or support, they are robbing that child
of the ability to experience normal psychological growth and development (
Partridge ). Some of the common problems of emotional abuse include insecurity,
social withdrawal, depression, destructive behavior, suicide, low self esteem, or
lack of confidence. It affects the person being abused immediately and in the long

I.Introduction
DSU was founded in 1925, in Cleveland MS, where this school was mainly a
predominately White institution. Just like other schools in the Deep South, there
were several of stipulations for other minorities to attend the universities. DSU has
since then allowed every ethnicity to attend the university all over the world. Now for
students there are over 60 programs that they can chose from when deciding on a
career, whether its online or in a class room setting. Every university in MS are
competing with each other, but in my opinion DSU and MS Valley are just a like
when I come to colleges in a rural area. DSU is one of the many universities that
offer nursing, and aviation program. The main goal for DSU is to increase
enrollment and have a higher turnout rate. All schools will see a turnover rate but
school officials are trying to change that any way the can. School officials are
targeting students in the delta area, instead of targeting other areas in MS. My
advice to the school officials will be to expand their horizons, have recruiters go out
and promote the university, which would help boost up there retention rate. I will
give my recommendations for growth, maturity, and decline for colleges over the
state of MS. How can school officials keep students enrolled in school until he or
she completes the entire program? I feel that the amount of enrolled individuals
inside of a class setting will have an effect on the schools growth. Most students

1. Material/Fabric: Comfort and results are two factors to consider when selecting the
material and fabric for your waist cincher. Please note that some of these are made
with latex to maximize results, however, latex is a common allergen for a variety of
individuals, those who are allergic to latex will likely prefer one that is constructed

Style: There are several varieties of waist cincher/trainers with varieties that include
those that cover the full torso, some that offer a thong option, and others that help lift
the breasts as well, these style preferences are just that, preferences. Moreover, the
one with the highest overall ratings is the standard belt style as seen on Keeping Up

The three common variations on the standard belt waist trainer are listed below. Once
again, the preference is a personal one.
Latex Waist Cinchers are considered to be the starter model, consequently, they offer
extreme flexibility and usually contain just a few plastic bones which allow for
freedom of movement and comfort. These usually are best for beginners and offer
enough flexibility for workouts and daily activities.
Corset waist cinchers tend to be more rigid then their latex counterparts. The boning
is usually steel. They adhere to the waist and truly retract it, creating a slimming,
curvaceous look. Their rigidity does not permit freedom of movement, however, tends
to produce quicker results.
Ribbon corset cinchers tightens from the back with ribbons, like those from the old

the fit on these because it precise, however, ribbons in the back can be difficult to
adjust if you live

There are few writers that could create a body of work that encompasses as many
concepts as Theodore Dreiser s Sister Carrie. His novel follows the life and times
of Carrie, a country bell of sorts who abandons her way of life in favor of a city
lifestyle. Through through Carries progress, Dreiser embodies many philosophies of
intelligence, experience, and personal growth. Many great philosophers have touched
subjects that are apparent in Dreiser s work. Sister Carrie epitomizes many ideas
defined by great thinkers such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Lev S. Vygotsky, and Aristotle.
Eleanor Roosevelt once said that Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss
events; small minds discuss people. Dreiser clearly hoped to convey a similar
message in this novel. At the beginning of Carrie s journey she converses with a man
named Chas. H. Drouet And so this is your first visit to Chicago, he observed.
All the time she was conscious of certain features out of the side of her eye. Flush,
colorful cheeks, a light mustache, a gray fedora hat. She now turned and looked upon

brain.

War World War I (WWI). Words that bring back some horrid memories of an

Militarism was the belief or desire of a government or the people should maintain a
strong military and ready to use it when needed and aggressively to defend or
promote national interests. Building up your army can be a major set of to other
countries, making them feel as if they are about to get attacked. Also other
countries would want to have more power than the others so they would have a
competition that could lead to war. For example, evidence shows in a chart by
Richard Overy, in 1999, all the countries were building up their armies and navy
and spending lots of money on them. This can cause war because if the other
countries saw that another country has a good military they wouldn t want to be
unprepared and they start building up their army and then all hell breaks loose.
Another example written in, The Hammer or the Anvil , by Bernhard von Bulow;
he writes, There is no welfare for us without power, without a strong army and a
strong fleet. (Bulow 1). This shows to readers that they were readying themselves
for some kind of war. This shows to readers that militarism is obviously the
underlying cause for WWI, because without a military there would be no

21. Compare And Contrast Frederick Douglas And Chief Seattle
Mrs. Lyons Frederick Douglass vs. Chief Seattle Frederick Douglas and Chief
Seattle both experienced disadvantages because of their race and culture around
the years 1850 1855. Frederick Douglass was a former slave abolitionist who
fought to change America and the Africans who were enslaved in it. Chief Seattle
was the leader of the Suquamish Tribe and he too was determined to change the
citizen s perspective about how his people were being treated. Both authors wrote
compelling letters/speeches to the President to convince him and the citizens to
spark change for their race by using pathos, description, and cause/effect in their
dialogue. Douglass and Seattle use pathos to evoke a certain emotion out of the
reader in order to make them feel the same way as they do. Douglass uses
examples to stir emotion. He says, What am I to argue that it is wrong to make
men brutes, to rob them of their liberty, to work them without wages, to keep them
ignorant of their relations to their fellow men, to beat them with sticks... Douglass
continues on with more examples highlighting the injustice to draw an emotion
out of the reader. Chief Seattle uses pathos but in a different way. Instead of
pulling examples from the past, he foreshadows to future problems that could
occur. He says, All things are connected. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons
of the earth. Seattle also uses religion. Our God is the same God. You may think
that you own him as you wish to own our land, but you cannot. When religion is
placed in the mix, emotions stir; it becomes more personal to the reader because
they can relate on a certain level. In order to get their points across effectively and
proficiently, Douglass and Seattle used description. Both authors use description to
help the reader form an image in their mind. This tool helps the writer create a
connection with the reader with the use of details. Frederick Douglass describes in
detail the wrongs he and his people experienced through slavery. He says, What, to
the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer; a day that reveals to him, more
than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the
constant victim. It s essential that Douglass uses
22. Similarities Between Charles Perkins And Malala Yousafzai
Charles Perkins and Malala Yousafzai are significant in the struggles of changing
the rights and freedoms of Aboriginal people and young women. Charles and
Malala have been through many struggles but have made a big impact on society
and the world today. Charles Perkins was born on the 16th of June 1936, Alice
Springs. At the age of 10 years old, he was removed from his home along with
other boys, in Alice Springs to be educated at St Francis House, which was the result
of the Stolen Generation. St Francis House was a boarding school founded by Father
Percy Smith in Adelaide to educate aboriginal boys with the permission of their
mothers. Whilst he made the most of the opportunities offered to him, he remembers
the severe discipline of the home, mainly after the death of Father Smith. During the
years he had in Adelaide Charles started to understand the enormity of discrimination
and injustices of Aboriginal people. Charles extraordinary soccer skills is what led
him to gain an education, through a soccer scholarship at Sydney University. In

23. What Went Wrong At Boeing
The 787 was conceived as a revolutionary design that would be a replacement for the
aging 767, cost about the same, but be 20% more fuel efficient. It would accomplish
this by utilizing a construction of 50% composite something never before attempted
in the commercial aviation arena. In summary, Boeing was endeavoring to build a
brand new clean sheet aircraft from materials never used, using methods never
attempted, and using a supply chain more far reaching than ever experienced by the
plane maker.
In retrospect, it may be easy to see why the 787 has had so many problems. The
problems are so large that Forbes was prompted to publish an article titled, What
Went Wrong at Boeing. (Denning 2013) Boeing has worked through most of its
supply chain woes and has delivered over 60 787s to date. Boeing is now designing a
next generation version of its supremely popular 777, the 777 8/9.
Boeing s desire to reduce costs and production time by relying risk taking suppliers
to design and produce major aircraft components has led to many failures and cost
overruns in the 787 program. In order for Boeing to avoid the pitfalls of the 787
program, Boeing must take the lessons of the past in concert with good technology to
ensure good management of the new 777 supply chain. Literature Review
Boeing s move toward a supply chain that relied on utilizing risk taking suppliers for
the 787 was meant to reduce the design timeframe and shorten the production cycle,

Rukmani is a very strong woman. She has undergone so many struggles but yet, she
doesn t lose hope. The novel has different themes: hunger as threat to dignity,
knowledge as power, and importance of fertility. Hunger and povertyis a powerful
enemy to someone. People will do everything for fear of hunger, even sacrifice their
dignity. Rukmani lost her sons because of hunger. Her elder sons seek new lives in
other land; another son was killed for stealing, leaving Rukmani grieving. For fear
of hunger her daughter turned to prostitution. She herself almost killed someone
for thinking the last piece of their rice was being taken. In the novel, hunger and
poverty breeds people who has no dignity. People with knowledge hold power. The
tannery won against the workers because they have more knowledge. For Rukmani,
white men have power and so she turned to Kenny. Kunthi uses her knowledge of
Rukmani and Nathan s secrets to exercise evil power. Puli s knowledge of the city
helped Rukmani and Nathan to look for their son. The commendable characters in
the novel were the ones who apply their knowledge to good deeds. Importance of
fertility is shown throughout the novel. Not just the fertility of women but also the
fertility of the land. She sought the help of Kenny for fear of infertility and this
caused Kunthi to blackmail her. Ira s problems were also caused by her barrenness.
She lost her husband for not being able to

Mind racing, eyes shifting to and fro, knees bouncing waiting to read what
happens next. The proverb is, a book is like a garden carried in the pocket. This
proverb comes from the origin of Arab. A book is full of words with an underlying
meaning that represents someone s thoughts and heart. Those books then go on to
inspire myriads of people. The novels show compassion, color, and strength. A
book can be written by one person, but educated many. In the early years no many
people could afford to buy books. The printing press invented by Gutenberg in the
1500 s decreased the price of books and made them more efficient. This was an
important part in the spread of knowledge which ended up being tied with a nature.

The importance of living by the Arabian proverb, A boom is like a garden carried in

Unfortunately, Oscar Grant s life was ended abruptly after he spent the night
celebrating the New Year with his friends and girlfriend, Sophina. From this story, it
is clear that Oscar was attempting to change his story by being a better father to his
daughter, Tatiana, thinking about marrying Sophina, and better providing for his
family by getting a stable job and being a man that his mother and sister could rely
upon. While the incident that occurred at Fruitvale Station could be analyzed from
any variety of theories, this paper will examine these events from the lens of Conflict
Theory and Social Learning Theory. These theories intertwine in many ways, but they
also differ from each other in very important aspects. Fruitvale Station is a cinema
depiction of a true story involving the death of Oscar Grant in a train station in
Oakland, California during the early morning hours of January 1, 2009. This incident
has sparked many civil rights related protests and discussions. Oscar Grant was
survived by his mother, who has been very vocal since the incident, fighting for equal
rights for minorities, his sister, and his daughter, Tatiana (Johnson).

29. Colonist Rebellion
As our discussion post provided this week, the colonists responded with rebellion
because of the new acts that were imposed upon them by the British (Schultz, K.,
2013). Their attempt to reform the American colonies contributed to the growth of
the Revolutionary movement because the British tried to enforce stricter policies and
laws (Schultz, K. M., 2013). The British wanted to tighten the policies over the
colonial officials so that it would reduce the corruption, the British wanted control
over the area of land that the settlers occupied, and they wanted to raise revenue by
taxing goods. Although the British were adamant about their purpose, the colonist
believed that rebelling against them would help in receiving their independence.
A few of the ways that the colonists responded with rebellion for the new acts that
the British imposed upon them was with the Boston Massacre in 1770. An angry mob
harassed the British Army, and they end up killing five individuals but later pay for
their indiscretions. In 1772, the American colonist attacked the British Ship, the
Gaspe, sent the crew to shore and burnt the ship. Also, in 1773 the Boston Tea Party
takes place as the colonist disguise themselves, and they discard all the tea into the
harbor. While many more events took place during 1763 to 1776, the American
colonist still persistent at their unwillingness to pay their share of the taxes that had
been implemented by the British.

diseases in addition to physiological disorder. However, fungal diseases, especially
rust is considered one of the major destructive diseases affecting the crop yield
(Hagedron, 1984 and Kraft, and Pfleger, 2001), especially in the north and middle
parts of the Delta in Egypt and several countries in the world (Abada et al., 1997;
Gupta and Shayam, 1998 and Parilli et al., 2015).
The fungus Uromyces pisi is a heteroecious rust pathogen, completing its life cycle
on two host plant species. The sexual stages are completed on Euphorbia cyparissias

crop hosts such as Lathyrus, Orobus, Pisum and Vicia spp. E. cyparissias is an erect,

The nectar contains fungal gametes (spermatia) that are transferred by nectar feeding
insects (including bees and ants) from one fungal mating type to another. Once
fertilization has occurred, aeciospores are released which infect leguminous host
plants including field peas.
Managing plant diseases with fungicides sometimes gives good results. However,
improper use of fungicides leads mostly to environmental pollution, disasters
throughout the world and the phenomena of resistance to the causal pathogens
(Brewer and Larkin, 2005). Therefore, to overcome these difficulties, it is urgent to
apply alternative safe efficient methods against such disease or at least rationalization
their application.
Biological control is considered an important approach of agricultural biotechnology
in recent years for controlling many fungal plant pathogens. Both Bacillus and
Trichoderma spp. are the most promising and effective bioagents against
various plant pathogenic fungi (Deshmukh et al., 2010; Barakat et al., 2014 and
Ragab et al., 2015). Trichoderma as antagonist is much more complex, that is nutrient
competition, hyperparasitism, antibiosis, space and cell wall degrading enzymes
(Abd El Khair et al., 2010 and Junid et al., 2013).
It was also found that there is a large variety of volatile secondary metabolites
produced by Trichoderma spp. such as ethylene, carbon dioxide, hydrogen cyanide,
aldehydes and ketones which play an important role in controlling many plant

34. The Pros And Cons Of Vegetarianism
Every time we sit at a table to enjoy the fruits and grain and vegetables from our
good earth, remember that they come from the work of men and women and children
who have been exploited for generations. These words of Cesar Chavez, co founder
of the United Farm Workers, perfectly describe the injustice farm workers face in
producing our food and including humans when talking about cruelty free.
Conversations surrounding notions of vegetarianismas inherently cruelty free
seldom incorporate the advocacy of more rights for farm workers. As a conflicted
meat eater, I can concede that the fight for vegetarianism is honorable and
consuming fewer animal products would be beneficial for our society, however,
promoting meat free meals and products as cruelty free mistakenly limits the cruelty
of the food production system to animals. Comparatively, our food production system
also exploits factory farm workers, a point also overlooked in conversations regarding
ethical eating. Ultimately, the fundamental problem with vegetarianism is the cruelty
free platform, that too often ignores the inhumane working conditions of farm
workers. That being so, not eating meat does not place you above everyone else on
the moral scale or mean you practice cruelty free when exploited laborers in our food
production system, most of whom are undocumented, do not have their liberation.
The unfortunate reality is that the majority of things we consume have harmful
effects whether you are vegetarian
35. Cardiac Surgery With Cardiopulmonary Bypass Essay
Introduction
Cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is one of the most widely
recognized major surgical procedures worldwide. Renal failure is a noteworthy
cause of morbidity and mortality after cardiac surgery.1,2 Acute kidney injury
(AKI) occurs in about 20 40% of patients3 and is associated with a mortality rate of
8% compared with 0.9% in patients without AKI. AKI requiring hemodialysis in the
postoperative period is uncommon (~ 1% to 5%), yet associated with a remarkably
high mortality rate of 30% to 60%.4 (11 13). AKI increases the risk for ensuing
chronic kidney disease and kidney failure, with its associated morbidity and
mortality.5
Clinical prediction tools have been developed to estimate the possibility of cardiac
surgery associated AKI (CSA AKI).8 10 These have recognized female gender,
impaired left ventricular function, insulin requiring diabetes, emergency surgery, and
abnormal baseline renal function as independent predictors of requirement for dialysis
.23 Pathophysiological mechanisms of CSA AKI include decreased renal perfusion,
lack of pulsatile flow, oxidative stress, hypothermia, atheroembolism, and
inflammation 23. The main mechanism of injury is thought to be intraoperative
ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI).20 Prolonged duration of cardiopulmonary bypass
(CPB) and its inflammatory response, and prolonged aortic cross clamping are the
leading factors associated with an increased likelihood of cardiac ischemia
reperfusion injury.22 Although
36. Global Engagement by John Nolan
I believe that to be globally engaged is to be constantly aware and apart of what is
happening in the world. Global engagement is necessary to obtain communication
between nations to try and prevent unnecessary events like wars from happening. In
his book, Global Engagement, John Nolan writes that ...Cooperative engagement is
the appropriate principle for security relations under the new international
circumstances that have emerged. Cooperative engagement is a strategic principle
that seeks to accomplish its purposes through institutionalized consent rather than
through threats of material or physical coercion. ( Nolan, 1994, p.4) Nolan is saying
that apart of Global Engagement is creating an institution to organize people and
problems to prevent catastrophes. Another definition of Global Engagement is to
...make contacts in other parts of the world, journey to those places and then develop
relationships with the people they meet and work with there. (Presler, 2010, p.17)
Global engagement is to be interactive in the world especially by way of an
organization. Pat Robertsonis an excellent example of an organization that is globally
engaged starting with his leadership. Leadership is defined as central to the
performance of organizations... (Dewan, T., Myatt, D.2008 p.351) CBN, the Christian
Broadcasting Networkwas started in the 1960 s through Pat Robertson s leadership.

A restaurant is an establishment where refreshments or meals may be obtained by the
public; a public eating house (Merriam Webster, 2015). The initial notion of selling
food for profit dates back to as far as the earliest civilisation. Restaurants were a place
that people would come to eat, drink and socialise as recognised by the French
Revolution. In the early to mid 18th century, only taverns and inns sold food and
drink. There were no menus or even options to choose from, the choice of food that
would be served on differing nights would be determined solely by the chef. The
food they served mainly consisted of boiled or roasted meat broth, served without
sauce or seasonal vegetables. The word Restaurant itself derived from a French word
that describes this particular boiled or roasted meath broth that they served. Overtime,
restaurants developed an established concept that steered away from the traditional
inns (which were usually located in the middle of the countryside, providing meals to
travellers) and provided seating to customers at their own tables, and a menu from
which patrons could choose their own dish. The definition of restaurant may be
extended and brought under the broader concept of store as restaurants of every type
and sub type are strictly in the business of merchandising food. The same

This interconnected network provides employees access to business stored data and
applications. Businesses that implement this model must purchases additional
hardware and upgrade components to scale up data storage and processing services
to support more users on the network [1]. Additionally, mandatory software upgrades
are required with traditional IT infrastructure to implement fail safe systems for
redundancy and mitigate risks for hardware failures. In house IT management is also
required in this model to monitor, maintain, upgrade, and deploy systems. One of the
key benefits is that it provides one of the most secure data hosting solutions and
allows companies to maintain full control of applications and data on local servers
[1]. This is very important for companies that store financial and medical sensitive
data as compliance requires very strict control of such files. Although traditional IT
provides flexibility on design and components, technology advancements and the
digital age have caused a massive shift to dependability/need for high performance
computing power that small/medium size businesses cannot afford. This in turn has
led to the rise of cloud computing to fill market needs with reliable, scalable, and cost
effective IT solutions. Cloud Computing: Secondly, it is important to understand the

40. Causes And Disadvantages Of Transportation
Modes of transportation such as trains and cars were created as a way to connect
the world. The creation of the railroad system allowed for global trade and travel to
foreign countries. After railroad systems, humans desired personal modes of
transportation so cars were invented and created a more efficient way to get around.
The mobilization of the world may not seem like such a bad thing. However,
transportation comes with economic consequences. The evolving forms of
transportation humans have adopted since the early 1900 s has been a cause in
climate change.

Trees will take in the carbon dioxide that is in the atmosphere, however, forests
have already started to be depleted due to the railroad system. Because of the need
for timber humans have carelessly removed large amounts of trees from the
environment. Carbon dioxide is needed for the atmosphere as it is a heat trapping
gas and without it the world would be frigid. But too much carbon dioxide causes
over heating of the Earth. The Earth s climate needs balance. Through deforestation
humans have upset that balance and left more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere than
there should be. Then humans created cars that have released even more carbon
dioxide into the atmosphere through their exhausts. Therefore, humans are left with
excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere contributing to global warming. A more
noticeable form of air pollution is smog. Smog is created by nitrogen oxides or
hydrocarbons reacting with sunlight (J.R. McNeill, Something Under the Sun,
Chapter 3 p. 72). This means that smog happens where there is a lot of sunlight.
Smog is dangerous to human health as it will cause eye irritation and harm to the
lungs. In 1997 the WHO estimated that all air pollution killed 400,000 people
worldwide annually (J.R. McNeill, Something Under the Sun, Chapter 4 p. 103).
Smog even causes harm to plant life. In Los Angeles during the 1960s, smog stunted
tree growth as much as 80 kilometers further decreasing the world s

In Andre Bazin s essay, The Ontology of The Photographic Image , he argues that
one of the defining characteristics and inherent motivations in the production of art
and artifacts, be it the mummification of Pharaohs, portraits of Kings and Emperors,
is the preservation of life by a representation of life (Bazin 238). He elaborates that at
the heart of the plastic arts, such as painting and sculpture, is a need to make
immortal the mortal and to turn the imageof our flesh into clay, steel and paint. Bazin
s essay touches on our need and motives to transform ourselves and preserve our
being beyond its physical existence. He focuses on how photographyis the purest form
of capturing reality and how the arrival of cinema challenges itself with preserving
life as it is or was, without the alteration and manipulation from editing. Points of
Interest Although most of Bazin s essay is very interesting to read, there are a few
points that I felt stand out within the essay. Bazin explains that painting, in its attempt
in the production of realism, encountered a problem in combining both the
representation of the spiritual reality or the emotionally reality with the
representation of the physical reality. Bazin notes that painting can successfully
represent the emotionally reality, but that the reproduction of the physical reality will
always lean towards and illusion. This illusion that Bazin references throughout his
essay, I believe, is alluding to the inability to truly

Another disadvantage of using coal is that the amount of carbon emissions that is
produced when it is burned is damaging the environment. The fine dust of the coal
is also very dangerous to human health and many people that are near where the
mines are situated and the miners and their families are the most effected. This is
that the fine coal dust when inhaled causes respiratory issues and the person can
develop asthma. Another disadvantage is that the mines take up large amounts of
land, which destroys natural habitats and also decreases land values of places of
close proximity to the mines. The power plants that are needed to convert the energy
the coal produces into useable energy require fuel the coal and due to the energy
demands growing due to a growing population, large amounts of coal is need to be
brought in from other mines just to keep up with the
43. Pope Leo The Third, 66, Died On 12 June, 816 After 20
Years
Pope Leo the Third, 66, died on 12 June, 816 after 20 years of being the Vicar of
Peter. In his years of service, he was a marvelous Pope. He fought for the teachings
of Jesus Christ, and effortlessly tried to enrich Christianity as far as God allowed it.
It is unclear how he died now, but one thing is for sure is that he will be greatly
missed. PopeLeo the Third was born to Atyuppius and Elizabeth in Southern Italy.
He was a very God fearing and trusting child. His mother always said he was meant
to be something great. In his early years, Pope Leo the Third served in his church s
administration. Later in life, Pope Leo the Third became cardinal priest of Santa
Susanna, while chief of his church s political treasury, because of his... Show more

So, on April 25, 799, Pope Leo the Third processed into the masses through the
Flaminian Gate to receive the citizen s oath of loyalty. As he was riding on
horseback down to the Church of the Blessed Lawrence, Pope Leo the Third was
viciously attacked by armed Roman men. The attackers attempted to cut out his eyes
and tongue. Pope Leo the Third was rendered injured and unconscious. He was then
whisked into to the Monastery of the holy martyr Erasmus to be kept safe. After that
horrid event, Pope Leo the Third escaped to the Duke of Spoleto, then to King
Charlemagne, then back home to Rome to finally rest.
The rebels that concocted that uncalled for attack, then came forward to King
Charlemagne to lay formal charges of adultery and perjury on Pope Leo the Third.
The physical attack and accusation were of very high treason. No person on earth
can charge the Vicar of Christ. King Charlemagne s Advisor Alcuin agreed with that
fact and reminded King Charlemagne of the Pope s position in power and
reputation. In the following December, the investigation of the accusation against the
Pope were halted and never continued fully. King Charlemagne ordered those who
conspired and attacked the Pope to be put to death under the Roman law of lese
majeste. However, Pope Leo the Third begged King Charlemagne to spare their lives
in the name of Christian charity.
Then, on December 23, Pope Leo the third decided to take the oath of purgation and
fully cooperate. Pope Leo the

Favela s Essay
September 27, 2012
Poverty has been around for many centuries, all around the world. Some of the
societies governments aren t doing a thing to fix these shanty towns and favelas.
They try to keep them isolated from the more wealthy parts of the city. Whether it
means putting up fences or just keeping them in a distance from the others. These
people are being treated like animals, forced to live in flooded areas on top of one
another. The favelas in Rio De Janeiro are very similar to the shanty towns in
Jakarta, Indonesia. The Favelas in Rio De Janeiro lie beneath the beautiful part of
Brazil. Some of the old famous favelas where made of a mixture of sand and clay.
Then eventually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only thing the government does is put up gates to separate them from the
wealthy part of the city. Many people in Jakarta depend on the communal area to
wash their clothing and bathe because they don t have there own water supply.
Nobody deserves to live like this because it is very dangerous and hazardous.
Although there isn t any violence in Jakarta, it s not a good place to live. Its
always flooded so you have to travel on little boats made of wood to get from one
place to another. Jakarta s slums and Rio De Janeiro s favelas have a lot of things
in common. Both of their governments aren t trying to make these living conditions
better. They just keep them secluded in one area away from the wealthy parts of
the city. It isn t safe nor healthy for people to be living in contaminated water or on
top of one another in unsteady shacks. People from around the world come to visit
these towns because they find it interesting or attractive that people are living like
this, instead of trying to help them they just admire the way they are living. Still to
this day nothing is being done to improve this situation. Even though people are
poor they shouldn t have to be living like this because they are humans too.
Everybody should be treated and looked at equally. Sometimes food is very scarce
so people have to go nights without eating anything. No one should have to live there
life like
46. The Career Leadership As A Foundation For One s
Leadership
The Career Leadership Academy (CLA) undoubtedly provides practical, real world
knowledge that can be applied to an extensive range of circumstances. Implementing
the lessons taught in the class can enable students to successfully build and
strengthen relationships in the classroom, on the job, and with friends and family.
Not one of the class s concepts is more important than another, which pushes students
to combine what they have learned to better themselves as individuals, leaders, and
team members. Perhaps the most important fact is that CLA s concepts can serve as
a foundation for one s leadershipphilosophy.

Many philosophies are established during our upbringings, and personal
experiences. A family, for instance, is like a team in many ways. We have to
collaborate, encourage, and motivate one another to strengthen our cohesiveness.
The unbelievable bonds formed within a family are naturally created during a
process. As stated from Leadership and Professionalism, collaboration s purpose is
to create a shared vision and joint strategies to address concerns that go beyond the
purview of any particular party (Anderson and Bolt, 2013, p.36). I have found that
my experiences with CLA correlate with this idea. As time progressed, our group
began to understand each other, and utilize our strengths to maximize efficiency. This
is because we became more comfortable with each other, learned how to
constructively criticize one another, and developed a productive system. My views
on the process obviously go far beyond my experiences in this class, but the
experiences have undoubtedly reassured my philosophy. The Relational Leadership
Model provides many ideas that can guide one s philosophy about leadership, but
there are many other concepts that can equally contribute. At the beginning of the
semester, we took the Clifton s Strength Assessment. Knowing one s strengths can be
very beneficial, especially in a group setting. In my signature themes report, it noted
that my five strengths are: futuristic, includer, communication,

50. Magical Realism and the Sublime in The Monkey
Magical Realism and the Sublime in The Monkey
The Monkey is a short story written by Isak Dinesen. The story was published in
1934. The Monkey is a form of gothic sublime. In this story, I encountered many
elements that related to magical realism as well as the sublime.
The Monkey has many magical elements. The beginning of the story mentioned a
purple eyed young fallow deer (109). The element appears to me as being a magical
element rather than an element of the sublime. Another magical element was the
tortoise being more than one hundred years old (109). A person knows that no
tortoise is capable of living to be more than one hundred years old. Aunt Cathinka
says that she will give Boris her experience of life ... Show more content on

According to Longinus, noble imagery is used to convey the sublime. Her luminous
eyes met his, and made him look away, and this dumb play was repeated twice over.
(114). The sublime element was an element of imagery. The woman and man s
attention was caught by each other s appearance that it took them a while to get back
to what they were doing.
Edmund Burke characterized the sublime as causing astonishment. In The Monkey ,
Boris said he could follow his aunts thoughts without looking at her (116). I feel that
this element of sublime is one of astonishment. The fact was so amazing that Boris
was so close to his aunt that he could follow what she was thinking without any sight
of her around.
In The Fantastic Sublime, Weiskel describes the sublime as beginning with a
contemplated object that is considered sublime when the attempt to represent it
determines the mind to regard its inability to grasp wholly the object as a symbol of
the mind s relation to a trandscent order. (51). Sublime literature has many elements
that are hard to grasp on to fully. Sublime can be something that will happen so fast
when someone tries to remember what occurred, they cannot.
In The Fantastic Sublime, Weiskel describes the structure of the sublime as divided
into three stages. The first phase is that the mind is determinate, habitual relationship
with the contemplated object. The second phase is experienced by the tearing of a
51. Descriptive Essay On My First Home
Up to this point in my life, I have lived in two homes, though the one I live in now
is where I have primarily lived. I have so many vivid memories from these two
places that I am constantly looking around remembering all of the good times I
had. Moving into my current home was not only a decision to expand on our
living space, but give both me and my sister a good place to live. Between the less
than desirable neighbors and the small cramped environment, it was a necessary
choice to move an I couldn t be any happier for it. With that, let s quickly get my
first home out of the way because I only lived there for the first two years of my
life. This place is where many of my memories come in the form of various tapes
my family filmed during the time. At this home is where I gained my scar under
my eye after face planting into the edge of the coffee table, spoke my first words,
and learned eating cake by faceplating into it isn t exactly how you are supposed to
eat it. Though my time there was short, I remember short things like the swing in
the backyard I would always spend my time with or the kiddie pool my parents
bought for me to help develop my swimming skills at a young age. My two friends
of the house were my Buzz and Woody figurines that you would never see me
without and for how much I carried them around with me, I never really took care
of them. By time I left the house, I believe that they were as good as garbage,
having lost Buzz early on and only having Woody
