Many people decided to move from
their city to escape from the danger of
infection.

The “qualifications” of the doctors
Some of the cures they tried
- Onions, herbs, snake, pigeon.
- Vinegar, crushed minerals,
arsenic, mercury or even ten-year-
old treacle!
- Fire, herbs.
- People that believed that God was
punishing you for your sin, went on
processions whipping themselves.
- Bursting the buboes.
- Doctors often tested urine for
colour and health.

- Potions, Fumigations,
Bloodletting, Pastes.

Quarantine & Social Distancing
The only effective means of stopping the spread of the plague –
though not curing it – was separating the sick from the well
through quarantine.
The segregation of the sick was ordered in many cities but in
some the quarantine practice and stations were put into effect too
late, such as in Venice and Genoa, where half the people
succumbed.
ENTERTAINMENT during
the Black Death
Small bones
The children used to play it during the easter
period, they took one for each hand and
threw one of the two.Then they picked
another and threw it again. You had to throw
the highest number of bones.
Dolls and swords of wood
The girls in that period played with
the dolls
The boys played with some swords
of wood because in that period
playing the role of being a knight
was amazing
The ball
They were used to play also with a ball probably in a
game like football.
