Vestibular System Movements Moonboot Dusting/ Cross body Toe-Touching- Student activates the vestibular system by moving his/her head through space and crosses midline by reaching opposite arm to opposite foot Crossing midline increases body awareness and is a precursor skill to reading and writing Spinning- Student spins in opposite directions (i.e. 4x to the right and 4x to the left). Benefits students that need to increase their activity level to increase engagement Stand on One Leg- Balance movement that address lower body strength and postural control
- 6. Proprioceptive Movements Jumping Jacks- this movement addresses bilateral coordination and body awareness Frog Jumps- student starts in the squatted position with hands on the floor in between knees. Student jumps forward and land with hands and feet on the ground.
- 7. Motor Planning Movements Bear Walk- This movement addresses core activation, upper and lower body strength. Student is in an extended quadruped position and navigates the environment in this position. Crawling- Developmental movement that strengthens the trunk, shoulders and hand muscles and increases body awareness.

- Vestibular System: processes information about movement, gravity, and balance that it receives through the receptors of the inner ear. Vestibular movements must be followed by proprioceptive movements
- Proprioceptive System: processes information about body parts and body positions, which it receives through the receptors in the muscles, ligaments, and joints.- Example of having your eyes closed, stretching your arm out to the side, and touching your nose and the ability to understand where your body is.
- Motor Planning: the ability to envision, organize, and carry out a series or sequence of unfamiliar actions. Praxis involves three components: first is the ability to ideate or conceive what one wants to do, second is the planning of the actions required to accomplish the activity, and the third component involves the motor control and coordination needed to execute the task. Importance of crawling and weight bearing into the hands for developing and improving hand strength and creating the creases of the palms which improve fine motor manipulation in order to increase particiaping in fine motor tasks such as handwriting.
