sentence is about
verb - it is the action being performed by the subject
The Object of a sentence is the person or thing that receives the
action of the verb.

S V O
They played the drums.
7. Direct object is a noun, pronoun, or a noun phrase that receives the action of a verb or shows
the result of the action. It answers the question “What?” or “Who?” after an action verb. If you can
find the subject and the verb in a sentence, then you can find the direct object easily by using the
formula,
Subject + verb + what or who = Direct Object
Example:
“John and Avery played cricket.”
He repaired my car.
He - subject
repaired - verb
Car - Direct object
8. TRY IT OUT!
DIRECTION: Read the paragraph below and encircle the direct object.
It was the middle of the night when he came. He knocked loudly on the door. I
put down my book and answered the door. His long hair covered his eyes and his
hat was worn askew. He pulled a box from his coat pocket; he gave me the box
with a jerky motion and left. I opened it and found a note. The next day, I read
my father the note, which simply said ''good evening.''

10. INDIRECT OBJECT
A sentence must always have a direct object first, for an
indirect object to exist. In other words, an indirect object
cannot exist in a sentence without a direct object. An
indirect object is a noun or pronoun that is affected by the
action. It would be correct to state that an indirect object is
the recipient of the direct object.
