Copper Peak in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan aims to become the only ski flying facility in the Western Hemisphere. It has partnered with USA Nordic and educational institutions to advance training for US athletes. Copper Peak plans to host international competitions beginning in 2017, bringing worldwide attention and establishing Michigan as a center of excellence for winter sports. The project aims to raise $12 million to rebuild Copper Peak's infrastructure to meet competition standards and leverage events to promote tourism in the Upper Peninsula.
