DMI is a membership based association: DMI was founded in April 2004 by 50 organisations and individuals from different sectors (bussiness support, finance, research, labour market, public and non governmental organisations & nowadays microfinance institutions ). One first common finding of all these experts was: We need to set up microfinance in Germany,. Otherwise all the efforts in the field of self-employment (what is one topic of of German labour market policy) will be ineffective, when promising business ideas and microbusiness will get no funding.. ----------------------. DMI is service provider and network for microfinance practitioners in Germany: The "first movers" in Germany, who started the first microfinance pilot projects, were start-up centers for unemployed people. DMI pools the crucial findings of these projects - and also (internationally sucessful) methods and tools. The next step of DMI was to standardised them and developed them further for other regions and potential microfinance institutions. So DMI is network for the know how exchange of microfinance practitioners. Networks are an important approach, when we are talking about the upscaling of successful microfinance initiatives. Networks deliver important services to microfinance institutions. ---------------------- .DMI is a quasi apex organisation: DMI facilitate donors and public funders. Consultancy and training for microfinance institution. Recommendation to the "Mikrofinanfonds Deutschland" - Benchmarking
