An experienced and qualified insurance and risk management professional with a broad range
of business and communication skills, and a career history that includes both client facing roles
for major insurers and risk management consultants/insurance brokers and risk management
responsibilities for international commercial organisations with complex risk management
requirements.
A long and varied insurance and risk management career provided the platform for building a
successful new career in insurance and risk management training. Courses have been
delivered throughout the UK and in Europe.

Recent Career History and Achievements
June 2011 to Present – Insurance and Risk Management Training
Delivery of training courses for the Chartered Insurance Institute and other commercial training
providers. Tuition has been delivered to groups and individuals on a face to face basis and
using Skype, video conference and conference calls. Courses delivered since 2011 are
detailed below:

Preparation of ‘Virtual Classrooms’ training using Prezi and Screencastomatic technology
incorporating live video sessions for Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications.
January 2009 to June 2011 – Wellbeing Training
A longstanding interest in the relationship between lifestyle and health provided the motivation
for completing a Health Sciences qualification leading to an involvement in a local business
providing corporate wellbeing services.
Four Open University Courses were completed to obtain a Certificate in Health Sciences,
providing a platform for involvement in Corporate Wellbeing training in association with The
Wellbeing Project based in Newbury.
Programmes are designed to develop a healthier workforce, reduced sickness absence and
improved morale and engagement. This role involved the delivery of face to face wellbeing
related training and new business generation.
November 2006 – January 2009 – Account Director – Willis UK - Reading
Account Management Role servicing a portfolio of 25 medium sized organizations based around
the South of England, including MacLaren Group, and UK subsidiaries of US and Swiss based
companies.
Responsibilities included client and insurer relationship management, Insurance programme
advice, retention and growth of account portfolio, profitability and credit control, management of
account serviced team.
March 2005 to August 2006 - Account Manager - Global Services - FM Global
Windsor based European hub of American global property insurer providing risk engineering
and insurance capacity to global businesses. Own portfolio of 30 US domiciled clients including
Textron, United Technologies Corp, Microsoft, Computer Associates, EMC. Most relationships
were directly with the client rather than via a broker intermediary.
Achievements in this role:
• Development of strong corporate (US) and local (European) client relationships
• Successful completion of renewal negotiations and management of processing for all
accounts
3. This role involved extensive travel through Europe and the USA to meet and work with risk
managers, local management and local brokers and partners on insurance and risk
management issues.
November 2003 to August 2004 - Risk Management Assignment - Prudential PLC
Nine month assignment as Insurance Risk Manager for City based risk management
department of a financial institution with business interests in UK , Europe, United States and
Far East.
Achievements during this assignment:
• Successful negotiation of property and casualty renewal, achieving premium savings
• Collection and presentation to insurers of quarterly financial lines disclosure information
• Creation of robust premium allocations for financial lines and property and casualty
programmes
August 2001 to July 2003 - Business Development Manager - Stewart Business Software
Midlands based risk management information software company responsible for sales
marketing and client relationships.
Achievements in this role:
• Winning new accounts - Vinci PLC, GlaxoSmithKline PLC
• Successfully managing relationship with existing clients and generating additional
revenue - Claims Management Group Limited, Crawford & Co
• Introduction of formal sales process and prospect database
1995 to July 2001 - Associate - Willis UK Risk Solutions - Major Accounts Practice
City based international risk management consultancy and insurance brokerage. Provision of
strategic and operational risk management advice and insurance programme placement
services to UK based multinational companies. Roles included New Business Project
Management and Account Management
During this period two winter seasons were spent running a small business in the French Alps

1990 - 1994 Risk Manager - Kyle Stewart Limited
Risk and Insurance Manager for construction company specialising in design and build projects
latterly acquired by Dutch company HBG. Responsible for insurance placement, risk
management advice, claims management. Achieved successful remarketing of insurance
programme showing premium savings
1986 - 1989 Group Insurance Coordinator - Ladbroke Group
Insurance and risk management role within a large risk management department of a leading
leisure, hotel and property group, use of placing brokers and direct placement into the insurance
market. Advice to operating companies particularly property development divisions engaged in
large construction projects.
1976 - 1985 Account Executive - Insurance Brokers
A variety of client facing roles with London based insurance brokers including Stenhouse,
Alexander and Alexander, Barnet Gold, handling client portfolios of large and medium sized of
commercial companies.
