1) The Occupational Therapy Department at a university set a goal in 2008 to develop an internationally acclaimed curriculum using e-learning modules.
2) Over 3 years, the department transitioned from using WebCT to Moodle as their e-learning platform, upgraded computer labs and wireless infrastructure, and trained lecturers and students on the new technology.
3) Challenges included lecturer resistance to change, concerns about marginalizing underprivileged students, and lack of technical support. Success factors were top-level management support, excellent funding, and international recognition of their work.

In the industrialised countries nutraceuticals gained a leading role in the healthcare. Three are the key players: consumers more and more attentive and proactive towards health and well-being, the medical community and the scientific research in recognising the role of nutraceuticals in maintaining people healthy (with a concept of health that goes beyond the non-disease and includes the complete physical and mental well-being), and the industry with it’s investments in R&D. The industry outlook is good although there is a lot of work to do especially in terms of the reputation of the industry, recognition of its role in the field of healthcare for the individual well-being and also in terms of collective welfare and savings for the NHS. Some of the main problems to be overcome are: the identification and recognition of the quality standard and the safety profiles of the products put into the market, including specific GMP standards and shared criteria to define the health claims to support appropriate communication to the consumer.
