Controversial Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Controversial Essay" can be both challenging and intriguing.
The difficulty lies in navigating through diverse perspectives, addressing sensitive issues, and
presenting a well-reasoned argument that acknowledges the complexities inherent in controversial
topics. These essays require careful research, critical thinking, and a balanced approach to present
a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
The challenge begins with selecting a topic that is inherently controversial, as it requires a
delicate balance to avoid extreme positions while still addressing the core issues. The writer
must delve into various viewpoints, considering both sides of the argument, and presenting a
nuanced analysis that goes beyond mere opinion. Crafting a compelling thesis statement that
captures the essence of the controversy while guiding the essay is a crucial step.
Moreover, the research process demands thorough investigation into reputable sources, scholarly
articles, and diverse perspectives to gather relevant information. Handling opposing viewpoints
with respect and fairness is essential to maintain the credibility of the essay. Striking the right
balance between emotion and rationality is another obstacle, as controversial topics often evoke
strong feelings.
In terms of structure, organizing the essay in a logical flow while maintaining coherence can be a
formidable task. The writer must carefully construct each paragraph to build a persuasive
argument, supporting claims with evidence and avoiding logical fallacies. Additionally,
incorporating counterarguments and refutations adds depth to the essay but requires finesse to
prevent misrepresentation.
Language choice is also crucial in controversial essays. The writer must convey their ideas with
clarity and precision, avoiding inflammatory language or biased expressions that might
undermine the objectivity of the piece. Striking the right tone is essential, as the goal is not to
provoke but to engage the reader in thoughtful consideration of differing perspectives.
In conclusion, writing a controversial essay involves navigating through a myriad of challenges,
from selecting a nuanced topic to conducting thorough research and presenting a well-balanced
argument. The process demands critical thinking, empathy, and effective communication skills.
While the journey may be arduous, the end result can be a thought-provoking piece that
contributes meaningfully to the discourse surrounding the chosen controversial subject.

To deny the existence of an agreement between the testator and the intended trustee
would be to commit a fraud, and, providing the trust complies with the requisite
conditions, unrealistic to uphold a strict reading of statute to allow the trust to fail.
As previously stated, another equitable principle says equity follows the law in the
event of conflict, equity may circumvent the common lawbut it does not seek to
override it. It only intervenes if there is a risk of an unconscionable result, like the
denial of a testator s wishes. As Hudson notes the purpose of equity is to introduce
fairness in circumstances in which statute might permit unfairness thus is not
surprising that the Courts have applied the principle to secret trusts in this way.
An alternate (but weaker) theory: dehors the will
However, it is false to state that is solely thus equitable principle that enables the
enforcement of secret trusts. An alternative theory is that they arise, dehors, or,
outside of the will. It was stated by Danckwerts J in Re Young, in holding a secret
trust valid, that in fact the whole theory of the formation of a secret trust is that the
Wills Act has nothing to do with the matter.
This theory fundamentally argues that the trust is affirmed inter vivos, that is to say
during the testator s lifetime, and not through the will, and the will is merely is
formalisation of the transfer. It thus follows the trust is created dehors the will and is
not opposing Wills Act.
Remember The Titans Synthesis
Remember the Titans is a football movie that was filmed in the year 2000.
Although this movies main plot is surrounded by football it has a much deeper
meaning than just a game. Remember the Titans is based on the true story of
coach Herman Boone played by Denzel Washington and what he did for the young
men of T.C. Williams High School in the year 1971. Given the huge task of
integrating the football team of a small school in Virginia, Coach Boone and
assistant coach Bill Yoast played by Will Patton begin by introducing their two
captains, Gerry Bertier and Julius Campbell. News of the new head coach and
integration of the school had sent the town into a complete uproar. Having black
students walk the halls with white students hadn t been an option until now and to
add to the tension of integration in the school current head coach Bill Yoast was
forced to step down to assistant after having a hall of fame worthy career for the T.C.

Instead of rolling over and allowing them to dictate the game they continue to fight
through adversity and are aided by coach Yoasts stern message he gives to the
officials showing his players that he will fight for them when they are treated
unfairly. This message that he sends gets the officials on the right path and begin to
call the game fairly and the titans win and proceed to the championship game. Co
captain Gerry Burtier gets caught up in the celebration and is involved in a severe
car accident that leaves him paralyzed from the waist down just a week before the
state championship game. The titans come together as a team battle through adversity
one last time for their captain and come out victorious and are crowned state
Middle Age Politics In The Middle Ages
The Renaissance was the birth of a new time in the Middle Ages. The Renaissance
marked a turning point in Middle Age politics by the building and developing of
strong monarchs. These monarchs began reducing violence, establishing domestic
order, and curbing unruly nobles.
In the Renaissance, The French, English, and Spanish worked aggressively to rebuild
and improve their governments. In the Middle Ages, the French had been largely
depopulated due to the Black Plague and Hundred Years War. Leading to the French
becoming economically ruined and agriculturally weak due to the shortage of
workers. King Charles VII revived France through a strong monarchy leading to its
recovery. Charles reconciled the Burgundians and Armagnacs, who had been

Zara came under the holding company Inditex in the year 1985 and is today the
biggest fashion brand of the group. Zara believes that the prime factors for running a
successful business are quick response to customers, use of computers, and
disintegrated decision making (McAfee, Dessain, amp; Sjoman, 2007)
Inditex has a total of 1,558 stores operating in 45 countries out of which 550 stores

Until now, every garment that is product in Zara s factories around the world has
to travel back to Spain in order to go through quality controls, and is then send to its
distributors. But the continuous flows of goods from all the productions sites to
Spain and from Spain to the markets of sell, as well as the relative communication
flows necessary to such a business model will inevitably slow down as Zara will
have to deal with a constantly growing number of customers. Thus, the highly
centralized information system of Zara seems not to be easily applicable in Asia, in
addition to being time and money consuming.
Another problem that Zara s information system is facing is that it is not sustainable
in an ecological way. Indeed, the amount of shipping required by the actual
centralized business model is already massive and it is expected to grow
exponentially with the participation of the booming Asian economies. Such a model
is not complying with the current ecological trends and reforms. For instance, the

Ancient Greek Tragedies
The late Jim Valvano, a legendary North Carolina State basketball coach once said,
If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that s a full day. That s a heck of a day.
Ancient Greece believed in a similar philosophy during the festival of Dionysia;
however, they stretched it out to a whole five days. While they had many tragedy
performances during the week that would make the audience think and cry, they
also had satyr and comedies to make them laugh. While satyrs and comedies both
were written to make audiences laugh, they had a very different purpose. Satyr
plays, like tragedies, would be performed in a set of four plays, while Comedies were
given a whole day to themselves on the fourth day. Satyr plays like EuripidesThe

An example of the type of humor used in The Frogs is on page 33 between
Dionysus and the Corpse. Dionysus says, Hold on there, fella, maybe we can work
something out. The corpse replies, Put down two drachmas then, or else shut up.
Dionysus says, Here s one and a half. The Corpse responds, I d sooner liver again!
(pg. 33, lines 175 178). The humor in Greek comedies has a much more set up and
punchline type of feel.
Satyrs on the other hand have humor that is much subtler yet, equally as hilarious.
Probably the funniest moment in The Cyclops is when the Cyclops is trying to
tell the Chorus Leader who blinded him. Nobody wounded me, the Cyclops says.
Then you re not hurt, says the Chorus Leader. The Cyclops responds, Nobody
blinded me. The Chorus Leader says, Then you re not blind (pg. 213, lines 671
674). Of course, since Odysseus told the Cyclops his name was Nobody, the Chorus
Leader was very confused.
Personally, I preferred the satyr plays, The Cyclops and Trackers, over the comedy,
The Frogs. I enjoyed the length and language more in the satyr plays. They still felt
like I was reading a tragedy, except with comedic aspects. Both genres were funny
and enjoyable; however, the satyr plays were my favorite of the

George Balanchine and The Nutcracker
George Balanchine himself said, The choreographer and the dancer must remember
that they reach the audience through the eye. It s the illusion created which convinces
the audience, much as it is with the work of a magician. Ві Balanchine could be
considered just that of a magician in the way that he brought his ballets to life.
George Balanchine s The Nutcracker, could truly be described as an illustration of
Christmas magic. The Nutcracker would be of his most famous works, expanding
worldwide and withstanding the true test of time. Recognized as a 20th century
masterВІ, Balanchine made history as the incredible choreographer of many works
including that of a Christmas tradition.
Although a legend in the United States, George Balanchine did not begin life here

Balanchine s father was a composerВ№, so music was no mystery to him growing

Informative Speech On Skin Cancer
When thinking about the prominent organs that make up a human body, one might
think of the heart, the lungs or the brain. Rarely do people think about their skin as
an organ but it is actually the largest and plays just as an important role in allowing
human life as other vital organs. Because it is an organit can be affected by cancer, a
disease where body cells begin to divide at an abnormal rate, crowding out normal
cells. Skincancer is the most prevalent form of cancer in the United States
accounting for about 50% of all cancer cases reported annually, according to the
American Cancer Society. Although skin cancer has become the most common form
of cancer it is also one of the most preventable by following these steps: becoming
properly informed, taking the proper preventative measures and knowing your

An estimated 2.8 million cases of BCC were diagnosed in the U.S. and rates
continue to grow. In fact, it is the most frequent diagnosed of all cancers, being
responsible for the majority of all diagnosed skin cancers. Although it is very
common it is also fairly easy to treat if treated early, because BCC almost never
spreads from where the original tumor was found. Basal Cell Carcinoma
commonly looks like an open sore, red patches or scars and can sometimes
resemble skin conditions such as eczema which is why it is important to get them
checked out by a physician as soon as they are noticed. People with fair skin are the
most common to be diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, because lighter skin tends
to be predisposed to skin damage like being sun burnt. Although skin color is a factor,
the largest contributing factor is the intensity and extended exposure to the sun.
Which is why BCC is most commonly found in places exposed to the sun, the face
being the most common place to find the skin

Model Organisms Essay
During the course of the past thirty years, the study of model organisms has become
more significant in the study of embryological development. A model organism is a
species that is easy to cultivate and monitor in a laboratory environment and is used
to represent broad groups of organisms. Examples of successful and important model
organisms include the Ascidia, Zebrafish, and Medeka species. Through intense
researching of these organisms, scientists have been able to gain valuable insight into
the developmental processes of many complex vertebrates, including humans.

2001).
Through research of the embryonic development of the ascidians, scientists were able
to better understand the vertebrate gene function and regulatory networks of several
processes. The ascidia genes involved in the formation of the notochord, which were
shown to be analogous to those of tadpoles, and were consequently mapped in order
to obtain information regarding gene function in vertebrates. In addition, the
developmental processes in ascidia embryogenesis were studied in great detail,
leading to advances in the conception of the regulatory network s involvement in
governing notochord differentiation and also the process leading to the formation of
the tail (Corbo et al. 2001).
The zebrafish, another marine model organism, was also selected due to its short life
cycle and rapid embryological development. Moreover, the zebrafish have nearly
transparent embryo cells, making the embryos easily accessible, and allowing
developmental events to be easily observed. As a result of numerous similarities in
development when compared to other vertebrates, the zebrafish has solidified its
position as a model organism. Most importantly, the zebrafish is an effective model
organism because both experimental embryologic methods and genetic analysis can
be easily applied to it (Grunwald and Eisen 2002).
Due to experimentation with the zebrafish, scientists have been able to gain insight
into the formation and function of individual tissues, organ
Irish Immigrants in Boston Essay
Irish Immigrants in Boston
The life of Irish immigrants in Boston was one of poverty and discrimination. The
religiously centered culture of the Irish has along with their importance on family has
allowed the Irish to prosper and persevere through times of injustice. Boston s Irish
immigrant population amounted to a tenth of its population. Many after arriving
could not find suitable jobs and ended up living where earlier generations had
resided. This attributed to the invisibility of the Irish. Much of the very early
migration had been heavily male, but during the famine years, migration was largely
a family affair. Families were arriving serially in ?chain? migration while others
suffered high mortality rates in these years. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One leading Irish American politician, John Mitchel, wrote in his newspaper, The
Citizen in 1856:
He would be a bad Irishman who voted for principles which jeopardized the present
freedom of a nation of white men, for the vague forlorn hope of elevating blacks to a
level for which it is at least problematical whether God and nature ever intended them.
So the Irish tended to be in favor of slavery and against abolition. This was just
another reason why many of the people around them did not get along with them,
this in turn probably making their lives harder and less enjoyable. However, at the
outbreak of the Civil War an estimated 170,000 men born in Ireland joined the Union
Army, but only about 40,000 were in the Confederate Army. This occurred because
the issue for the Irish was not so much slavery as it was preserving the Union. The
church in Boston agreed with Archbishop Hughes that ?It is one country and shall be
one?.
After the Civil War, attitudes toward the Irish shifted slightly, and the Irish Need Not
Apply signs on businesses, that had been so common decades before, began to
disappear. The Irish had heavily participated in the war: thirty nine Union regiments
contained a majority of Irishmen, and the 69th regiment was comprised almost
totally of Irishmen. The Irish Americans gained some respect for their involvement
in the Civil War and were now more accepted by American society. The Irish
Americans in the post Civil War time period were

As they interacted, they played music together. They mixed the rhythms and forms
of music from their native countries. This mixing contributed to the mixing and
fusing of music giving birth to a superior form of music. Bringing together these
elements gave rise to a type of music called the Mambo bred from the Cuban Son,
Conjunto and Jazz music elements. Somehow this new type of music found its
way back home and still went through more transformation. In New York City,
Mambo dance ruled the clubs in the 1950s. Later on, another type of music known

The Economic Order And Manufacture Quantity
The economic order/manufacture quantity (EOQ/EMQ) model developed by
Harris (1913) is the earliest reported scientific treatment of inventory systems,
where the sum of inventory costs, ordering/setup and holding costs, is minimized.
Its simple mathematics and ease of calculation is perhaps what contributed to its
popularity with practitioners and academicians (e.g., Fulbright, 1979; Osteryoung
et al., 1986). The EOQ/EMQ model continues to be celebrated by many researchers
(Andriolo et al., 2014; Drake and Marley, 2014; Glock et al., 2014; Bushuev et al.
2015). The model s popularity overshadows few critical voices (e.g., Selen and
Woods, 1987; Woolsey, 1990; Weiss, 1990).
Many derivatives of the EOQ/EMQ appeared over the years, of which just in time
(JIT) is one of them (e.g., Andriolo et al., 2014). In contrast to the classical EOQ
/EMQ model, just in time (JIT) produces a product when needed and delivers it when
wanted by customers. JIT considers inventory as a waste to be reduced by producing
in smaller lots more frequently, so fewer items are in the pipeline (Bonney and
Jaber, 2011). It also improves quality, productivity, responsiveness, machines
availability, workforce flexibility, space and equipment utilization, flow, and
relationship with suppliers (Cavinato, 1990; Jones, 1990; Mehra and Inman, 1992).
JIT is based on continuous improvement of which reducing setup time (cost) is its
primary driver (Zangwill, 1987; Jones, 1990;Cavinato, 1991). Readers are referred to

The Great Awakening was when religion was sweeping throughout New

took place from 1735 up until 1745. (Brief Outline Notes on the
Great Awakening, 1735 45 ) Most of this had taken place within the American
Colonies, especially New England.(McCormick, pars. 9) . The Great Awakening had
many causes, however the consequences benefitted many. Many people were moving

Another principle leader in the south of the Awakening was Samuel Davies from
Virginia. He read to his neighbors the sermons of Whitefield and Luther. He
preached moderately, however it`s effect was numerous. The passionate sermons of
these people led to the revival of religon. More people came to church for the
worship of god from their heart.
These ministers and preachers helped cause the Great Awakening that led to many
benificial consequences.(Lecture 4).The work of these ministers and preachers paid
off because of the satisfactory results. A major result was the unification of many
Americans through religion. As well as the understanding of Christian faith and life.
Many non established groups grew and enjoyed much more respect, such as the
Baptists, Methodists and Presbyterians(Lecture 4). The colonists also figured out that
they can do things on their own. They didn`t need others to interpret the bible for
them. This helped the colonists fight back against George III and his tyrannical ways.
They put in religious control over the destiny over their nation and instead of asking
the church about independence, they sought help from god (Great
Awakening).Colonists had infact also figured out that any man can go to heaven.
Even if they have money or not, religion apparently back then stressed equality, this

Abstract
A study involving 252 participants undergoing the course Biological Psychology was
carried out in order to examine the correlation between sensitivity to reward (SP),
Body Mass Index (BMI), weight and more frequent consumption of unhealthy fast
foods, (e.g., high in fat and sugar). The core results showed the participants found that
sensitivity to reward was strongly negatively correlated with BMI and weight.
However, both these correlations are not statistically significant at the 95%
confidence level. Alongside this finding, sensitivity to reward was positively
correlated with unhealthy fast foods, which leads to more frequent consumption of
fatty and sugar rich foods. These values were also not statistically significant. This
research needs to consider gender balance inequality, environmental cues such the
accessibility of fast food (e.g., the amount and distance these restaurants are from
their home residence) and one time collection of data used.
The Relationship between Sensitivity to Reward and Punishment and Eating
Behaviours
Undoubtedly, the obesity epidemic in western society has never been so prevalent as
the rate continually is climbing. There is an ample body of research that suggests that

For example the Kainai, which means many leaders , did not choose to be referred
to as the Blood Nation (Bastien 2004, 10). There are many explanations as to how
the Kanai became widely referred to as the Blood Peoples. One explanation is that
it comes from a Cree term used to describe the Kanai by the red paint, which looks
like blood, that is used in ceremony to paint their face and hands red. A second
explanation is there was a mistranslation of a term used to describe the Kanai as
wearers of white weasel pelts, to wearers of blood (Bastien 2004, 10). This
mistranslation comes from the similarities of the words for blood and the term used
to describe the changing of the white weasel pelts to white with the seasons (Bastien
2004, 10). In this case, the Kanai, through the use of their language are asserting
their preference to be known as the many chiefs, over the Blood Peoples or the
wearers of blood. Though today, the Blackfoot territory is defined by reserve
/reservation boundaries and divided by the United States Canadian border, their
homeland, Nitawahsinnanni ( our land ), continues to be defined by topographical

Corporate Social Responsibility Of The World Essay
Chapter: 2 Corporate Social Responsibility
2.1 History of Corporate Social Responsibility
2.1.1 Corporate Social Responsibility in the World:
The origin of Corporate Social Responsibility in businesses has no fixed date. Most
experts, scholars, researchers, practitioners, writers, philanthropists, civil societies
conscious citizens opined that it can be carried out in an ethical and socially
responsible manner. It is assumed that in the year 1960 corporate social responsibility
began to emerge, and the civil rights movement, consumerism, and environmentalism
greatly changed the way society expected the business world to behave. In the year
1970 there came the common use of the term CSR along with many attempts to
officially define the phrase. In 1980, the new International Development Strategy
focused on achieving a more stable world economy, stimulating economic growth,
evening out social inequities and countering the worst impacts of poverty. While
scholars from the 1970s into the 1990s wrestled with CSR concepts and developed
stakeholder theory, numerous business leaders had independently articulated similar
views on the purpose of business. Throughout this period scholars attempted to
define, redefine, and clarify the concept of corporate social responsibility that they
saw being assumed by, imposed upon, and played out by business. In addition,
scholars sought to connect and integrate disparate principles and activities into a
more comprehensive conceptual model.
Aaron Stampler s Mental Illness In The Film, Primal Fear
The movie Primal Fear is about a lawyer name Martin Vail decides to take on a
case that would initially bring him fame as a prosecutor. The case that defense
attorney, Martin Vail takes is a case that involves an altar boy being accused of
murdering the archbishop of Chicago. He would take the case defending an altar boy
and suspect, Aaron Stampler in a murdercase where he is trying to prove the
innocence of a serial killer. Martin Vail really believes that Aaron Stampler is
innocent because he is polite, has an angelic face, and he stutters, but what Martin
does not know is that Aaron is showing that he is suffering from Multiple
Personality Disorder (MPS) until at the end of the trial he court room that he is
guilty and he used Mr. Vail to get away with the murder. As a viewer watching this
movie, and to in the court room the producer wants to make it look like Aaron is

Aaron is shown as this Angelic boy of innocence and look to Mr. Vail especially
that he could have never commit a crime as such or beyond what they are trying
him for. But on the other hand he has this other side of him that gets angry and will
lash out and that other side is Roy. This movie shows that Aaron claims to have a
multiple personality disorder and that s why Martin Vail would like to go with the
insanity plea because it looks like he is not the one committing but Roy is the
murderer of these crime. In actuality, there is no Aaron there is only Roy and he
was faking it the entire time. This only conclude that he is just a cruel murderer that
was full of jealousy and he that he did not need anyone to force him to commit
sexual acts by the archbishop much less the crimes he
Nitration of Methyl Benzoate
NITRATION
OF
METHYL
BENZOATE

 Purpose:
The
main objective of this experiment was to synthesize methyl nitrobenzoate from
methyl benzoate, using the mixture of nitric and sulfuric acid by performing the
process of electrophillic aromatic substitution. During this reaction, the combination
of HNO3 and H2SO4 made a nitrating solution. The crystallization was done to
accomplish pure product. The melting point and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC)
were performed to test the purity of the product. Using the methyl benzoate reaction
product, methyl nitrobenzoate, one can determine the meta substituted, para
substituted and orthosubstituted of the final products. Furthermore, HNMR and IR

This would indicate that during the recrystallization there was a reduction in the
percentage yield of the production. The obtained final product melting point rang
was 76.2 780C. This would show that the experimental melting point was very
close to the literature value of 78 80В°C which denotes the meta substituted of the
product. So, the analysis of the melting point confirmed that the product was
methyl meta nitrobenzoate as it was anticipated. Additionally, use of the melting
point analysis shows that NO2 group could be added to the methyl benzoate at the
meta position successfully. The ortho and para products could have been also
analyzed during the experiment; however, they were not chosen for the product
(methyl benzoate) because they have unstable resonance forms that have positive
charges near one another. The two positive charges that are next to one another
can make the product to be unstable and as result ortho and para substituted
products are not favorable in this electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction. Also,
an IR of the product confirmed that methyl m nitrobenzoate as a favorable. A peak

Analysis Of Ernest Hemingway s The Hills Like White
Elephants
The Hills like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway is about a couple who, at first
seems to be having a good time, until the girl brings up the hills that looked like white
elephants and when the American man mentioned an operation. As the story goes on,
a reader can infer that the operation their talking about is abortion. This seems to be
the basis of their conflict as the man claims it as the only thing that s made [them]
unhappy (Hemingway, Hills Like White Elephants 280). The story illustrates both
external and internal conflict. The external conflict is obvious between the girl and
the American man. This is an example of man vs. man conflict. The American man
and the girl have a verbal argument about the whole operation. They
The Intertextuality Of Postmodern In The Woods
The Cabin in the Woods begins with a foreboding score playing over the credit
sequence wherein images of sacrificial rituals are displayed within pools of blood.
Given the tagline, You think you know the story. , most audience members would
assume they ve seen countless movies like this before, and to a minor extent, they d
be correct in their assumption. However, from the point that the ominous, blood
soaked intro credits smash cuts to a break room where two men have a mundane
conversation, the viewer no longer knows what to expect. This serves as the perfect
introduction into what Isabel Cristina Pinedo describes as the unstable, paranoid
universe of the postmodern horror film, The Cabin in the Woods. Pinedo defines the

The film references, not only slasher films, but a wide array of horror fiction. Out
of the numerous references to other horror films, one of the most obvious is the
cabin, which is likely a reference to The Evil Dead. Another Evil Dead reference
comes in the form of one of the monsters, named Angry Molesting Tree and among
the wide variety of monsters, the references range from Pinhead from Hellraiser to
Kevin from Sin City. Near the end of the film, The Director (Sigourney Weaver),
who played a Final Girl in the film Alien, mentions that [the ritual] is different for

given brief glimpses into other rituals, the most prominent being Japan s. Japan never

revolve around the supernatural; usually in the form of pale white, ghost girls with

ghost stories from Japan operate on onnen ( the idea that some emotions are so strong

advent of film. Some examples include the intro credit sequence, the painting that

why school districts should not take part in late start time is because it s dangerous

Importance And Importance Of Organizational Structure
Introduction
An organization is groups of individuals who work together to be able reach the same
goals. In each organization, the management must find the way to let people under
the same organization to work together efficiently in order to reach the goals that set
by the management or owner. That is how the organizational structure is developed.
When a group is small, formal structure may not be necessary but in a large
organization like bank or oil companies, the decisions making should be delegated in
various tasks. The organizational structure will also help an organization in obtaining
its goals to allow the future growth. (Study.com, 2015)

The importance and role of an organizational structure The importance of an
organizational structure is creating a route of communication that includes all levels
of the structure. An organizational structure enables the distribution of authority or
decision making. Another important role of organizational structure is employee

The Rhetorical Analysis Of Against Music By Mo Tzu

Mo Tzu s Against Music Has a strange opinion on music, he believes that music
should be condemned, and not be listened to. When he was alive from (470 391
BCE) Mo Tzu was not like all the other philosophers of his time in ancient China. He
believed that music was only good for a very small number of people, the rich which
conflicted with Confucianism which said it was a force of good. In the essay he uses
various examples of why music in not good and should be condemned. One of Mo
Tzu s many reasons for condemning music includes, that it does not benefit the
common people and only looks to entertain the rich. Mo Tzu also talks about taxing
people for music is a waste of resources and asks why the common people should pay

I believe he is wrong, in the essay he states Their music making interferes to such
an extent with peoples efforts to produce food and clothing . I disagree with this
statement everyday people listen to music and get things done an example of this
is listening to music and doing homework I can personally relate to this one.
People in college like me use music as a way to focus ourselves. Sometimes in
some situations it can be distracting, I find especially if the music has lots of
singing it can be distracting as opposed to music with only instruments. He also
speaks as if music is some sort of drug that prevents us from reaching our goals
because it distracts us. He is wrong as I stated before sometimes music can be a
distraction, but to say it stops us from reaching our goals, and doing our basic tasks
is just wrong. I listen to music everyday it is a part of my life just as much as
eating, and sleeping. And I have done many great things and am on a path to a
productive life as an adult. Music has helped me along the way to get through some
rough times and some good ones. I disagree with what Mo Tzu says about music.
Although one can argue that music can sometimes cause a distraction. Music is
mostly a +hobby for people not a career or something that you are required to do. If
someone is distracted by music it s their fault not the music they should know when
they can listen to music and when they
Applications Of Machiavelli s The Prince
Applications of Machiavelli s The Prince, in General Electric
General Electric has had exceptional leadership that has kept the company at the top
of their business. This success is attributed to both individual efforts to spur the
corporation and the consequential results achieved collectively. GE has established
the entire organization based on creativity and innovation, as they tend to inspire the
public and improve their present lifestyles. However, this subject needs thorough
discussion by distinguishing between standalone innovators and the one who rely on
others, that is, gauging the difference between the leaders who accomplish their
purposes through force or those who use persuasion (Machiavelli, p.21). This
ideology of GE has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He simply says that the firm was at risk of losing its market share to its competitors
in more than a few areas, mentioning that only the motors, lighting, as well as the
power systems trailed at first and second place in their corresponding markets. He
also said, on the other hand, that the economy was changing from local prominence
to international recognition. Moreover, in the foreign markets, the only part of their
business that led was the gas turbine unit (Slater, p. 9).
Another characteristic desirable by a leader as displayed by most CEOs of General
Electric, according to Machiavelli, was being feared rather than loved. He
reiterated that a feared leader gains more admiration and is at the end of the day
less harsh than a leader who strives to acquire love. A feared leader like Jack Welch
upheld respect by making illustrations of only a few instances that needed
intervention in the organization. On the other hand, leaders who endeavor to
receive the love and admiration constantly lose respect and tolerate communities to
incline into chaos ( murder and rapine ). As soon as such circumstances come into
play, the leaders resort to radical and universally ferocious solutions to reestablish
order. Consequently, it is better to murder a few people than to be forced to abolish
an entire city. Most essentially, a feared leader has less motive to concern himself
about wrongs. Men are less expected to attack a feared leader compared to
Social Interactions And Its Effects On The Basketball Court
Felecia and Joseph both have numerous social interactions, not just as individuals, but
as a couple as a tool. Joseph is often seen socializing amongst his friends on the
basketball courts. The conversations touch on everything from basketball, to school,
and relationships. During his interactions with his friends on the basketballcourt, he
can at times be competitive, but that s just the nature of the game. If he ever loses
there are moments when he ll just storm off the court not shaking hands. His
attitude can be taken to another level if he loses and performs poorly, whenever
this occurs he doesn t only storm off, but he also refuses to talk to anyone if he
does the conversations tend to turn out aggressive with a lot of trash talk. When
things are going his way Josephs demeanor is calm, he engages well with his
friends, and he always brings humor to the conversations, he tends to take himself
less seriously when his girlfriend is not around, and when he isn t losing games.
Joseph is also a student giving him the chance to interact with his classmates
/teachers. There are moments when he doesn t have much to say unless he is
talking with his friends, he is polite and very respectful towards the teacher.
Surprisingly, he always appeared to be more timid when he was in class compared to
when he was on the basketball courts.
Felecia has social interactions like Joseph, but with different people in different
environments. During her spare time she enjoys hiking, clubs,
Ocean Lab Report Essay
Corte Madera Scientific Report
Abstract
I examine how rising or falling tide can affect the water level of Corte Madera Salt
Marsh in this report. The data is from Wednesday (June 19th) and Thursday (June
20th). My hypothesis is that tide and water level have positive relationship. From the
result, I learn that the water level and tide have positive relationship. However, when
tide changes its direction, the water level is likely to stay or little change.
Introduction
On June 19th, my classmates and I had field trip for Oceanography Lab (OCN
101) class with Professor Ocean Matt Horrigan. We went to Corte Madera Salt
Marsh, which is located 12 miles North of San Francisco, to examine how rising and
falling of tide effect on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Tables are attached on following page.
The result of T 1 and T 2 is different. T 1 does not have any significant change in
water level the greatest change was 5cm/h at 4A. Half of locations do not have
any change. On the other hand, only 1 location does not have change in the other
group s table. Most of velocities from T 2 are negative. Therefore, the water level
is decreasing. No matter the experiment time is almost same (None of data has
difference more than 10 minute For example, in T 1, the time in for 1A is 14:39
pm and in T 2, the time in for 1A is 14:33 pm), the result from each table has large
difference. I assume the difference cause by having different tide cycle on both days.
Discussion
To confirm my assumption, which is each day has different tide cycle, I compare
our data to Corte Madera tide table. On Wednesday 19th, Corte Madera Creek has
first low tide at 3:37 AM and second low tide at 2:57 pm. The first high tide was at
10:05 am and the next high tide was at 9:22 pm. The tidal coefficient was 67
(middle). The maximum high tide recorded in the tide tables for Corte Madera
Creek which is of 7.2 ft and a minimum height of 2.0 ft.
Therefore, during experiment (2:39 pm first in and 4:01 pm last out), we had second
low tide after we put meter stick on 2B but before 3A. Then, the graph shows that the
tide started to rise slowly during rest of period. 1B (2:40 4:01 pm), 3A (3:01 3:52
pm) and 4B(3:13 3:38 pm) have positive
The Dreaded Upper-arm Jiggle
The back of the upper arms is a common female problem area, especially after
menopause or if you lead an inactive lifestyle. (See References 1, p. 112) Weight
gain can result in that dreaded underarm jiggle that has you wearing long sleeved
shirts all year round. By exercising your triceps the three headed musclethat takes up
two thirds of your upper arm you can firm and define this area so you can
comfortably sport sleeveless shirts during the hot summers.
Exercises With Free Weights
You can work your triceps with a barbell or dumbbells. The latter might be more
convenient, since it allows you to work one arm at a time. Exercises can include
triceps extensions and kickbacks. These require you to extend and bend your elbows
to target the backs of your upper arms. You can do this while standing or sitting with
a dumbbell in your hand while your arm is extended overhead; you can bend forward
from your waist and press the dumbbell back; or you can lie face up on a bench with
your arms extended up, bending your elbows and bringing the weight toward your
forehead before pressing it up. (See References 2, p. 111)
Exercises With Machines
The triceps machine and high cable pulley station should become your best friends
in the gym. Triceps machines require you to bend and extend your elbows by
pressing and raising levers against the selected resistance. A high cable pulley with a
handle bar or rope attachment can also work your triceps. While in a split stance you

Nelson Mandela s Leadership Qualities
Introduction
Nelson Mandela (Mandela) is a figurehead for the equality of people not only in
South Africa, but also around the globe. Mandela has played many important roles
throughout his life and although initially leading by being a pacifist, he has changed
roles over time to lead as a revolutionary, a prisoner and a president. Many prominent
leaders throughout time have established routes in time by effectively changing
perceptions and Mandela is one of these leaders.
This paper examines the journey in which Mandela embarked and will identify
Mandela s leadership qualities and styles throughout his journey to becoming
President of South Africa. Although Mandela exhibits many different leadership
qualities, one can make a statement that Mandela is a transformative leader, in that
he exhibits various characteristics of six distinct leadership perspectives. Mandela
can be seen as any particular type of these six leadership perspectives, but this paper
will analyze the extent of these leadership qualities and how they have impacted the
life of Mandela and the world.
For the purpose of this paper, the distinct variance of whether Mandela was a
freedom fighter or a terrorist will not be examined, but may make for an interesting
distinction. This paper will ultimately determine Mandela s leadership qualities and
styles to conclude whether Mandela can be seen as a prominent and effective leader.

Urban Land Use And Transportation Planning
Question 1. This approach has several advantages. First, it provides much more
spatially detailed information than traditional data at the aggregate level of
planning districts. Hence, using this disaggregate information, we can suggest
policy implications to establish specific land use and transportation planning.
UrbanSim, one of the advanced microsimulation model developed by University of
Washington, uses gridcells of 150*150 meter, which presents spatially detailed
structure and enables researchers to evaluate current urban land use patterns as
well as predict future urban land use change at the micro level. However, a
building scale analysis provides much more benefits because it is a more realistic
model and can be easily combined with current urban big data. For example, if this
agent based model is combined with complex human behaviors data, it can provide
much more specific information for predicting events of an emergency such as a
building fire and disasters from earthquake or tsunami. Also, if this model is
combined with information on spatial human activities from mobile phone, it can
provide great benefits for managing spatial and temporal planning for the urban
places. More specifically, we can identify hot spots during daytime and nighttime,
which can help to predict travel demands as well land use demand. Second, with the
building scale dataset, we can deal with a variety of urban problems and issues. For
example, energy is one of the big issues in our
R V. Buzizi Case Analysis
Reasonable people will generally go a long distance to protect their loved ones.
However, most reasonable people would believe that killing someone else in order
to protect their loved ones would be immoral and harmful. In the case of R v.
Buzizi [2013], a man killed another in a supposed effort to protect his cousin. On an
early morning in MontrГ©al, the accused s cousin and the victim ensued in a brawl.
The initial fight was broken up by a third party. A few moments later, the accused,
Mr. Buzizi, who saw the initial assault from afar, intervened and pushed the victim.
Then, Mr. Buzizi noticed that the victim had an exacto knife, and that his cousin had

Thus, in order to prove manslaughter through the defense of provocation, the
subjective fault element of second degree murder must not be present. Section 232
(2) of the Criminal Code states that in the case of provocation the accused [acts]
[...] on the sudden and before there [is] time for their passion to cool . This means
that, in order for provocation to exist, the accused must not have had the necessary
guilty knowledge with respect to the course of action they were taking. In Buzizi s
case, this subjective condition for manslaughter is not satisfied, and the subjective
fault element for second degree murder still exists. At trial, the accused revealed
that he had a significant degree of knowledge as to what he was doing during the
altercation. For instance, when the accused testified, he stated that when the victim
tried to pick up the exacto knife after dropping it, this is when he decided to grab
the victim by his sweater and stab him (R v. Buzizi 248 blah 47). This establishes
that Buzizi not only knew precisely what he did to the victim, but it also establishes
that he knew his motivation for doing so, which was that he was afraid of the
potentiality for the victim to attack him with the knife. During his testimony, Buzizi

Due to the large amount of opposition he was receiving for closing the temples of the
other gods, Akhenaten established a new capital called, Akhenaten. (http:/
/www.kingtutshop.com/freeinfo/Nefertiti.htm)
The king s decision to move the capital from Thebes to this new site was due to the
fact that the sun rose from a dip in the surrounding mountaintops, which he
believed to be Aton coming up to watch over the city. Akhenaten commemorated
the founding of his new capital by erecting boundary stelae, markers placed around
the capital to show the limit of the city. These markers were also used to keep any
god other than Aton, out of the city. After a year of residing in the new capital,
Akhenaten prohibited the worship of Amun Ra completely and ordered that all
temples dedicated to the worship of Amun Ra be closed. The king also prohibited
all festivals and worship of Osiris, Isus, Mut and Ptah and any and all other major
and minor deities, as only one god was to be worshipped, that god being Aton. In
this sense, Akhenaten became a ruler with a newly created religion, monotheism.
The total defilement of Amun Ra from all statues, papyrus and temples meant that
his father s name had to be defiled too. To wipe out a person s name meant wiping
out a part of that person s being. Therefore, that person could not be introduced to the
God s and resurrected one of the ancient Egyptian s worst fears.
Essay about The Imporance of Polymers Today
A polymer is a large molecule consisting of many smaller subunits known as
monomers. There are different types of polymers and many uses for all of them.
Even though people may not realize it polymers play an essential role in our
everyday life. For polymers range from plastics, PVC, and Styrofoam to key
structures in the human body like DNA and proteins which are key components to
the human body that makes it possible for each of us to live and be unique. So
with out polymers in our body we would be dead, and with out them in our society
it would be a drastically changed for the worse to say the least
Polymers are also commonly referred to as plastics so now you can put in to

ON the other hand if it is properly recycled we are able to reuse the same plastic over
and over again for long periods of time while at the same time keeping a low
production cost This is why plastic is cheap even though it contains oil a very high
priced item, for as long as people do their best to not waste plastic and recycle it there
really is not a need to waste our precious oil and manufacture more of it.
Polymers effect every ones life almost every day allowing us to make many
valuable items that can help make our lives easier including plastic, PVC, and
shellac there are also natural polymers that we benefit from such as rubber and
amber. Polymers are truly a great and very beneficial item to everyone for they are
tough, durable, and cheap but they are also recyclable which can be very beneficial
to our environment and societal needs. The only negative effect is when it is not
properly disposed but this is really the users fault not the actual item its self
Though polymers are a very beneficial thing now, but In the future I believe that at
the very best that they will only hold the same value to society. I say this because
polymers are not a very complicated item and it would be difficult to better this
technology in a drastic way. The only further advancements I see are people
discovering ways to make polymers stronger, more durable and better suited for
extreme and

forum for all the parties interested in buying the options. Members of the exchange
carry out the trades themselves, or they act on behalf of the firms they represent
through an open outcry auction held in the trading room or the floor. The procedure
begins when a buyer calls an authorized commodity broker with an order to buy or
sell futures or options contract. This order is sent to the firm s agent who is on the
trading floor. The prospects of more profits increases for the ... Show more content on

If the price of oil is tripled in a year then the company is able to purchase oil at the
last years locked in price, which is lower than the current price, which in turn helps
the company to save a lot of money (Grabianowski, 2009). But, if the price of oil
falls then the company ends up paying more and loses money.
There are different types of financial instruments available for companies and
investors to hedge against crude oil price volatility. These instruments can be traded
financially without the tangible physical delivery of crude oil and different
instruments have different time periods. Some of the hedging tools are Options,
Futures and Swaps. But for this paper we will only focus on option contracts for
management of risk in crude oil trading.
OPTIONS
The modern day financial options market came into existence in 1973. It was
known as the Chicago Board Options Exchange. During the same year, Fisher
Black and Myron Scholes invented a formula to calculate the price of an option
using specific variables. This formula was later called the Black Scholes Pricing
Model and it had a huge impact on investors as they became confident about the idea
of trading options. As of today there are thousands of option instruments (stocks,
bonds and currency) listed in the market and millions of them are traded every day.
Options offer extra flexibility to buyers for managing currency or price risk as they
work like an insurance policy. Call option and Put option
Future Is Unpredictable And Uncontrollable Event
Future is unpredictable and uncontrollable event. Even we plan ahead of time,
there s still something that will get in the ways. But having a plan is always a
good thing since we cannot predict what will happen. My life plan is very simple;
getting a job, travel, being able to support my family and have enough money for
investing. My 5 years plan will be the first step to obtain my life plan. The first
thing is to have a decent career and earning a lot of money. I will be graduated in
May 2016 as a petroleum engineering. Finding a job right now is very difficult
since we are facing the downturn in oil industry. I will look for a job and working
full time. Chevron, Exxon, Halliburton, Baker Huge are the companies that I
would love to get a position in. I will try to learn, get more experiences and face all
kind of real life petroleum problems, so that I will have a decent amount of skills
which is needed if I aim for a promotion. While looking for a job in oil industry, my
back up plan is to work in a Nail Salon. Since most of Vietnamese people in the US
is familiar with being a manicurist and it has a good payout. I have been helping my
uncle with his salon in the weekend and I made quite enough money to cover my
gas, food and books while attending college. So it sure will help me a lot during this
downturn. The second thing is to marry my girlfriend. We are dating for 4 years,
been through a lot of things and she is always by my side for the whole time. We re

Egyptian Culture
These workers have spent countless days on crafting me, They use these tools to
craft edges to give me shape. For I do not know what exactly I am yet, I know I
must be important. One man, who must be the ruler or leader of these people,
checks on me everyday to see how close I am to being done. I do not understand
these people, but I believe that I am their creation using two different cultures. As I
take shape, I can see that my body is the shape of a creature. They call it an animal,
from what i can hear them talk about this animal, they call it a lion. This lion, is
huge in the egyptian culture. The fur and the lion s muscles are beautifully done to
the point where im am impressed. This process takes an incredibly long time to
finish and takes an incredible amount of concentration. I am not made of the same
material as the crafters, they look soft and warm but i feel like I am quite solid and
cold. I over hear the workers talking about how I am made from granite, a sculpting
material only used for the greatest of works.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is puzzling to me because that would make me half man and half lion.
Learning more from hearing the workers talking, I have found out that the
Egyptians have been taken over by a new ruler. For a very long time, Egypt has
been taking a lot of things from its neighbors the Kushites. The Kushites have lived
near the Egyptians for thousands of years, and always have been looked down upon
by its northern neighbor. They would often steal their resources, like their gold,
ivory and often their slaves. Slaves are a huge proponent of Egyptian culture, and
even Egypt was said to be the Master to the Kushites. Although recently, the Kushites
have conquered all of the cities in Egypt and have gained rule over
Wall-E Evaluation
Wall E: A Realistic Look into Our Future
This is called farming! You kids are gonna grow all kinds of plants! Vegetable
plants, pizza plants. ~The Captain from Wall E We all know that there is no such
thing as a pizza plant. But this is coming from a captain that never knew anything
about earth. Just imagine our world being destroyed and then robots beginning to
clean it up while we are on a luxury space cruise.
Now this might actually happen in our future. If you haven t seen the movie Wall e I
suggest you watch it because you may understand more of what will be said over the
next few minutes.
Wall e is a 2008 Disney film based on a robot named Wall e. In this movie our world

Just imagine. But this stuff is already happening to us. We are getting to attached to
our electronics and there is so much more junk food in our grocery stores that we are
changing without us even noticing.
We also have a lot of things in our world now that cause pollution. Transportation,
food production, and energy production. These things are just some of the many
pollution causes on earth.
With all of these things our world would start to die by the minute and that s exactly
what happened in the movie Wall E. All of this stuff would be crazy.
Why did the creators of the movie base it like this? Could it actually be because
they think all of this will happen in our future? Well I talked to some people to see
what they thought about all of this and here are some of the answers I have.
Person 1said Maybe, because if you look at our world now, the technology has
increased and there will probably be a lot of changes like robots and it might damage
our world.
Person 2 said Yes, because were already in the phase of it happening. Person 3 said
Yes, because technology is tremendously progressing and becoming a part of

The Everlasting Voice of Understanding During the 1960 s of American history
violent acts were aimed at African Americans in the name of racism and segregation.
In a case such as this one, many would seek refuge from the government, but to little
surprise, cries for refuge went unanswered. Making matters worse was the fact that
the Government allowed segregation to continue due to legal documents in many
southern states. Acceptable forms of oppression were separated into four categories:
racial segregation; voter suppression, in southern states; denial of economic
opportunity; private acts of violence aimed at African Americans. At this time, many
civil rights laws were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King to continue waiting but 340 years is ample time to wait. King continues to
say that some of the preachers of God have understood the need for justice, but
some have suppressed the blacks themselves. He believes that the preachers have
to break the traditional, unjustified rules of the society to allow for the freedom of
the children of God. The true meaning of the Bible lies in justice and co existence.
He wants moral justice to overcome the traditional norms which were unjust in
nature. He conveys this message well in his letter. He further writes: One day the
South will know that when these disinherited children of God sat down at lunch
counters, they were in reality standing up for what is best in the American dream
and for the most sacred values in our Judaeo Christian heritage (King 6). King also
uses quotes from the Bible to further involve the emotional attachment of the
people with the Bible. He compares himself with Apostle Paul when he says that
he is going to carry the gospel of freedom to the places beyond his native town.
This served two purposes. On one hand, he could reach out to the illiterate people
who knew of Paul through churches, and on the other hand, he made it clear that he
was undertaking a big mission. So, the whites were expected to come to support him
in the name of god. Besides using the name of god to appeal to the people, King
presents the real scenario of the life of the African Americanpeople to arouse
sympathy
Different Types Of Human Resource Information Systems
Essay
With all the different types of human resource information systems there is, you need
to implement the right one for the company. There are two different types of human
resource information systems, these types are stand alone system, and enterprise
wide or enterprise resource planning systems. There are three steps in selecting the
right information system the company needs; the first phase is adoption. In this
phase you need to determine the need you have for an information system based on
human resource considerations, cost considerations, and management
considerations. The second phase that you need to look at is implementation, in
this phase you need to think about your privacy and security considerations, data
conversion and to establish a project team. The last phase is integration, within this
phase you need to train the users on the system, you need people to become
comfortable with the information system, and your goal is to get the stakeholders
to be able the information system and have access to anything they want to look at
in the company. As part of the human resource manager you need to find the
fundamentals of job analysis. As part of the job analysis, you need to come up wit
the job descriptions and job specifications. There are steps that the human resource
manager will fallow to make sure everyone staffed will have the right job title. Step
one is to review the relevant background information, step two is to select which jobs
you want to be analyzed, step
Brief Description Of A Study Design
3.1 Brief description of study design The specimens were cut in slices every 4 mm
and are directly marked by a pathologist. MRI images were manually independently
delineated by 2 radiologists and CHOL PET images were both manually delineated
by 2 nuclear physicians and by automatic contours using SUV of 40%, 50%, 60%,
70%, 80%. All delineated images are stacked using landmarks from SPACE MRI
as a reference. One with the best match with pathological slices will be the most
accurate. There are no other specific requirements or information to be collected
from patients. No unethical or unrealistic demands are noted. All patients might
receive extra radiation due to this research. No extra benefits is yet determined
from these CHOL PET imaging in the study, however considering their age it
would not affect their quality of life as much as younger generations. Data obtained
could be used for further research and benefit future patients. 3.2 Design Bias: Apart
from sample bias, Article addressed possible influences of contour correlation apart
from imaging modalities. All possible factors were compared and assessed
independently. Positive correlations with the result DSC were found in
prostatectomy Gleason score and relative pathological tumor volume. Tumor
configuration type IV and transition zone type IV were found to have significantly
less DSC than any other 3 types, which all had relatively similar DSC values. Use of

Rousseau’s Second Discourse
The last paragraph of the prelude to the Second Discourse is an impassioned appeal
whose scope transcends the boundaries of time and space alike, calling for readers to
pay attention to the history of man and society that Rousseau is on the verge of
putting forth. Beginning with this authorial intrusion a form of literary apostrophe
the essay adopts historical writing as its primary narrative mode. This method stands
in direct contrast with the approach Thomas Hobbestakes in his Leviathan, in which
the Englishman sets out to prove propositions as one might do geometrically, by
preceding from valid arguments and sound premises. Rousseau s rejection of
philosophy, at least as he understands it in the Second Discourse, embodies the
emphasis... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most importantly for Rousseau, however, is not necessarily how history lets him see
how men might have been or how history lets him strike a balance between grasping
the intricacy of human history and succeeding fluidly from one thought to another; it
is how framing his work in such a way lets him give the greatest demonstrative proof
of the point he makes. The first part of the work consists in a history of mankind until
the institution of the social contract, and it reads easily and freely, just as man in
Rousseau s conception was in those days. The second part of the Second Discourse,
which deals with the critique of the social contract itself, however, reads much more
heavily, as if Rousseau were attempting to give the reader a taste of the gravity the
social contract itself imposes upon man. The opening lines of the second half already
launch his scathing attack on civil society by associating this notion with a man who
takes advantage of his fellow men:
The first person who, having enclosed a plot of land, took it into his head to say
this is mine and found people simple enough to believe him, was the true founder of
civil society. What crimes, wars, murders, what miseries and horrors would the
human race have been spared, had someone pulled up the stakes or filled in the ditch
and cried out to his fellow men: Do not listen to this imposter. You are lost if you
forget that the fruits of the
The Government s Background Investigation Essay
Topic:
The US government s background investigation process for individuals seeking
employment with US Federal, State, and Local government agencies and private
sector organizations is an important part of US homeland security. Through a
thorough investigation of an individual s biographical, residential, employment,
education, military, medical, financial and legal histories, etc., information regarding
an applicant s background is obtained and a report of investigation (ROI) is prepared
and submitted to an adjudicator for review. After review of the ROI, the adjudicator
makes a determination of an individual s suitability to obtain a security clearance for a
position impacting the US national security. If the results of a background
investigation are favorably adjudicated, the individual is eligible to receive a security
clearance; if certain derogatory information is obtained during the background
investigation, an individual can be denied a security clearance.
Problem:
Although much personal and private information is obtained and reviewed during
most background investigations, there is one glaring omission of information that
can prove to be valuable in determining the suitability for an individual to obtain a
security clearance. The information listed on an individual s social media accounts
(e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Internet Chat rooms) can provide invaluable insight
into a subject s character, integrity, loyalty, allegiance and other characteristics

Controversial Essay

  • 1. Controversial Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "Controversial Essay" can be both challenging and intriguing. The difficulty lies in navigating through diverse perspectives, addressing sensitive issues, and presenting a well-reasoned argument that acknowledges the complexities inherent in controversial topics. These essays require careful research, critical thinking, and a balanced approach to present a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. The challenge begins with selecting a topic that is inherently controversial, as it requires a delicate balance to avoid extreme positions while still addressing the core issues. The writer must delve into various viewpoints, considering both sides of the argument, and presenting a nuanced analysis that goes beyond mere opinion. Crafting a compelling thesis statement that captures the essence of the controversy while guiding the essay is a crucial step. Moreover, the research process demands thorough investigation into reputable sources, scholarly articles, and diverse perspectives to gather relevant information. Handling opposing viewpoints with respect and fairness is essential to maintain the credibility of the essay. Striking the right balance between emotion and rationality is another obstacle, as controversial topics often evoke strong feelings. In terms of structure, organizing the essay in a logical flow while maintaining coherence can be a formidable task. The writer must carefully construct each paragraph to build a persuasive argument, supporting claims with evidence and avoiding logical fallacies. Additionally, incorporating counterarguments and refutations adds depth to the essay but requires finesse to prevent misrepresentation. Language choice is also crucial in controversial essays. The writer must convey their ideas with clarity and precision, avoiding inflammatory language or biased expressions that might undermine the objectivity of the piece. Striking the right tone is essential, as the goal is not to provoke but to engage the reader in thoughtful consideration of differing perspectives. In conclusion, writing a controversial essay involves navigating through a myriad of challenges, from selecting a nuanced topic to conducting thorough research and presenting a well-balanced argument. The process demands critical thinking, empathy, and effective communication skills. While the journey may be arduous, the end result can be a thought-provoking piece that contributes meaningfully to the discourse surrounding the chosen controversial subject. To deny the existence of an agreement between the testator and the intended trustee would be to commit a fraud, and, providing the trust complies with the requisite conditions, unrealistic to uphold a strict reading of statute to allow the trust to fail. As previously stated, another equitable principle says equity follows the law in the event of conflict, equity may circumvent the common lawbut it does not seek to override it. It only intervenes if there is a risk of an unconscionable result, like the denial of a testator s wishes. As Hudson notes the purpose of equity is to introduce fairness in circumstances in which statute might permit unfairness thus is not surprising that the Courts have applied the principle to secret trusts in this way. An alternate (but weaker) theory: dehors the will However, it is false to state that is solely thus equitable principle that enables the enforcement of secret trusts. An alternative theory is that they arise, dehors, or, outside of the will. It was stated by Danckwerts J in Re Young, in holding a secret trust valid, that in fact the whole theory of the formation of a secret trust is that the Wills Act has nothing to do with the matter. This theory fundamentally argues that the trust is affirmed inter vivos, that is to say during the testator s lifetime, and not through the will, and the will is merely is formalisation of the transfer. It thus follows the trust is created dehors the will and is not opposing Wills Act.

Although this movies main plot is surrounded by football it has a much deeper meaning than just a game. Remember the Titans is based on the true story of coach Herman Boone played by Denzel Washington and what he did for the young men of T.C. Williams High School in the year 1971. Given the huge task of integrating the football team of a small school in Virginia, Coach Boone and assistant coach Bill Yoast played by Will Patton begin by introducing their two captains, Gerry Bertier and Julius Campbell. News of the new head coach and integration of the school had sent the town into a complete uproar. Having black students walk the halls with white students hadn t been an option until now and to add to the tension of integration in the school current head coach Bill Yoast was forced to step down to assistant after having a hall of fame worthy career for the T.C. Until now, every garment that is product in Zara s factories around the world has to travel back to Spain in order to go through quality controls, and is then send to its distributors. But the continuous flows of goods from all the productions sites to Spain and from Spain to the markets of sell, as well as the relative communication flows necessary to such a business model will inevitably slow down as Zara will have to deal with a constantly growing number of customers. Thus, the highly centralized information system of Zara seems not to be easily applicable in Asia, in addition to being time and money consuming. Another problem that Zara s information system is facing is that it is not sustainable in an ecological way. Indeed, the amount of shipping required by the actual centralized business model is already massive and it is expected to grow exponentially with the participation of the booming Asian economies. Such a model is not complying with the current ecological trends and reforms. For instance, the Global Commerce Initiative (GCI), a group of manufacturers and retailers working together to simplify and promote global commerce has lately been working on the elaboration of the 2016 Future supply chain design. Ancient Greece believed in a similar philosophy during the festival of Dionysia; however, they stretched it out to a whole five days. While they had many tragedy performances during the week that would make the audience think and cry, they also had satyr and comedies to make them laugh. While satyrs and comedies both were written to make audiences laugh, they had a very different purpose. Satyr plays, like tragedies, would be performed in a set of four plays, while Comedies were given a whole day to themselves on the fourth day. Satyr plays like EuripidesThe Cyclops and... Dionysus says, Hold on there, fella, maybe we can work something out. The corpse replies, Put down two drachmas then, or else shut up. Dionysus says, Here s one and a half. The Corpse responds, I d sooner liver again! (pg. 33, lines 175 178). The humor in Greek comedies has a much more set up and punchline type of feel. Satyrs on the other hand have humor that is much subtler yet, equally as hilarious. Probably the funniest moment in The Cyclops is when the Cyclops is trying to tell the Chorus Leader who blinded him. Nobody wounded me, the Cyclops says. Then you re not hurt, says the Chorus Leader. The Cyclops responds, Nobody blinded me. The Chorus Leader says, Then you re not blind (pg. 213, lines 671 674). Of course, since Odysseus told the Cyclops his name was Nobody, the Chorus Leader was very confused. Personally, I preferred the satyr plays, The Cyclops and Trackers, over the comedy, The Frogs. I enjoyed the length and language more in the satyr plays. They still felt like I was reading a tragedy, except with comedic aspects. Both genres were funny and enjoyable; however, the satyr plays were my favorite of the

Basal Cell Carcinoma commonly looks like an open sore, red patches or scars and can sometimes resemble skin conditions such as eczema which is why it is important to get them checked out by a physician as soon as they are noticed. People with fair skin are the most common to be diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, because lighter skin tends to be predisposed to skin damage like being sun burnt. Although skin color is a factor, the largest contributing factor is the intensity and extended exposure to the sun. Which is why BCC is most commonly found in places exposed to the sun, the face being the most common place to find the skin

A model organism is a species that is easy to cultivate and monitor in a laboratory environment and is used to represent broad groups of organisms. Examples of successful and important model organisms include the Ascidia, Zebrafish, and Medeka species. Through research of the embryonic development of the ascidians, scientists were able to better understand the vertebrate gene function and regulatory networks of several processes. The ascidia genes involved in the formation of the notochord, which were shown to be analogous to those of tadpoles, and were consequently mapped in order to obtain information regarding gene function in vertebrates. In addition, the developmental processes in ascidia embryogenesis were studied in great detail, leading to advances in the conception of the regulatory network s involvement in governing notochord differentiation and also the process leading to the formation of the tail (Corbo et al. 2001). The zebrafish, another marine model organism, was also selected due to its short life cycle and rapid embryological development. Moreover, the zebrafish have nearly transparent embryo cells, making the embryos easily accessible, and allowing developmental events to be easily observed. As a result of numerous similarities in development when compared to other vertebrates, the zebrafish has solidified its position as a model organism. Most importantly, the zebrafish is an effective model organism because both experimental embryologic methods and genetic analysis can be easily applied to it (Grunwald and Eisen 2002). Due to experimentation with the zebrafish, scientists have been able to gain insight into the formation and function of individual tissues, organ
  • 11. Irish Immigrants in Boston Essay Irish Immigrants in Boston The life of Irish immigrants in Boston was one of poverty and discrimination. The religiously centered culture of the Irish has along with their importance on family has allowed the Irish to prosper and persevere through times of injustice. Boston s Irish immigrant population amounted to a tenth of its population. Many after arriving could not find suitable jobs and ended up living where earlier generations had resided. This attributed to the invisibility of the Irish. Much of the very early migration had been heavily male, but during the famine years, migration was largely a family affair. One leading Irish American politician, John Mitchel, wrote in his newspaper, The Citizen in 1856: He would be a bad Irishman who voted for principles which jeopardized the present freedom of a nation of white men, for the vague forlorn hope of elevating blacks to a level for which it is at least problematical whether God and nature ever intended them. So the Irish tended to be in favor of slavery and against abolition. This was just another reason why many of the people around them did not get along with them, this in turn probably making their lives harder and less enjoyable. However, at the outbreak of the Civil War an estimated 170,000 men born in Ireland joined the Union Army, but only about 40,000 were in the Confederate Army. This occurred because the issue for the Irish was not so much slavery as it was preserving the Union. The church in Boston agreed with Archbishop Hughes that ?It is one country and shall be one?. After the Civil War, attitudes toward the Irish shifted slightly, and the Irish Need Not Apply signs on businesses, that had been so common decades before, began to disappear. The Irish had heavily participated in the war: thirty nine Union regiments contained a majority of Irishmen, and the 69th regiment was comprised almost totally of Irishmen. The Irish Americans gained some respect for their involvement in the Civil War and were now more accepted by American society. The Irish Americans in the post Civil War time period were

  • 13. The Economic Order And Manufacture Quantity The economic order/manufacture quantity (EOQ/EMQ) model developed by Harris (1913) is the earliest reported scientific treatment of inventory systems, where the sum of inventory costs, ordering/setup and holding costs, is minimized. Its simple mathematics and ease of calculation is perhaps what contributed to its popularity with practitioners and academicians (e.g., Fulbright, 1979; Osteryoung et al., 1986). The EOQ/EMQ model continues to be celebrated by many researchers (Andriolo et al., 2014; Drake and Marley, 2014; Glock et al., 2014; Bushuev et al. 2015). The model s popularity overshadows few critical voices (e.g., Selen and Woods, 1987; Woolsey, 1990; Weiss, 1990). Many derivatives of the EOQ/EMQ appeared over the years, of which just in time (JIT) is one of them (e.g., Andriolo et al., 2014). In contrast to the classical EOQ /EMQ model, just in time (JIT) produces a product when needed and delivers it when wanted by customers. JIT considers inventory as a waste to be reduced by producing in smaller lots more frequently, so fewer items are in the pipeline (Bonney and Jaber, 2011). It also improves quality, productivity, responsiveness, machines availability, workforce flexibility, space and equipment utilization, flow, and relationship with suppliers (Cavinato, 1990; Jones, 1990; Mehra and Inman, 1992). JIT is based on continuous improvement of which reducing setup time (cost) is its primary driver (Zangwill, 1987; Jones, 1990;Cavinato, 1991). Readers are referred to

These ministers and preachers helped cause the Great Awakening that led to many benificial consequences.(Lecture 4).The work of these ministers and preachers paid off because of the satisfactory results. A major result was the unification of many Americans through religion. As well as the understanding of Christian faith and life. Many non established groups grew and enjoyed much more respect, such as the Baptists, Methodists and Presbyterians(Lecture 4). The colonists also figured out that they can do things on their own. The Relationship between Sensitivity to Reward and Punishment and Eating Behaviours Courtney Andrews Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University Abstract A study involving 252 participants undergoing the course Biological Psychology was carried out in order to examine the correlation between sensitivity to reward (SP), Body Mass Index (BMI), weight and more frequent consumption of unhealthy fast foods, (e.g., high in fat and sugar). The core results showed the participants found that sensitivity to reward was strongly negatively correlated with BMI and weight. However, both these correlations are not statistically significant at the 95% confidence level. Alongside this finding, sensitivity to reward was positively correlated with unhealthy fast foods, which leads to more frequent consumption of fatty and sugar rich foods. These values were also not statistically significant. This research needs to consider gender balance inequality, environmental cues such the accessibility of fast food (e.g., the amount and distance these restaurants are from their home residence) and one time collection of data used. The Relationship between Sensitivity to Reward and Punishment and Eating Behaviours Undoubtedly, the obesity epidemic in western society has never been so prevalent as the rate continually is climbing. For example the Kainai, which means many leaders , did not choose to be referred to as the Blood Nation (Bastien 2004, 10). There are many explanations as to how the Kanai became widely referred to as the Blood Peoples. One explanation is that it comes from a Cree term used to describe the Kanai by the red paint, which looks like blood, that is used in ceremony to paint their face and hands red. A second explanation is there was a mistranslation of a term used to describe the Kanai as wearers of white weasel pelts, to wearers of blood (Bastien 2004, 10). This mistranslation comes from the similarities of the words for blood and the term used to describe the changing of the white weasel pelts to white with the seasons (Bastien 2004, 10). In this case, the Kanai, through the use of their language are asserting their preference to be known as the many chiefs, over the Blood Peoples or the wearers of blood. • 20. Corporate Social Responsibility Of The World Essay Chapter: 2 Corporate Social Responsibility 2.1 History of Corporate Social Responsibility 2.1.1 Corporate Social Responsibility in the World: The origin of Corporate Social Responsibility in businesses has no fixed date. Most experts, scholars, researchers, practitioners, writers, philanthropists, civil societies conscious citizens opined that it can be carried out in an ethical and socially responsible manner. It is assumed that in the year 1960 corporate social responsibility began to emerge, and the civil rights movement, consumerism, and environmentalism greatly changed the way society expected the business world to behave. In the year 1970 there came the common use of the term CSR along with many attempts to officially define the phrase. In 1980, the new International Development Strategy focused on achieving a more stable world economy, stimulating economic growth, evening out social inequities and countering the worst impacts of poverty. While scholars from the 1970s into the 1990s wrestled with CSR concepts and developed stakeholder theory, numerous business leaders had independently articulated similar views on the purpose of business. Throughout this period scholars attempted to define, redefine, and clarify the concept of corporate social responsibility that they saw being assumed by, imposed upon, and played out by business. In addition, scholars sought to connect and integrate disparate principles and activities into a more comprehensive conceptual model.

OF
METHYL
BENZOATE

 Purpose:
The main objective of this experiment was to synthesize methyl nitrobenzoate from methyl benzoate, using the mixture of nitric and sulfuric acid by performing the process of electrophillic aromatic substitution. During this reaction, the combination of HNO3 and H2SO4 made a nitrating solution. The crystallization was done to accomplish pure product. The melting point and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) were performed to test the purity of the product. Using the methyl benzoate reaction product, methyl nitrobenzoate, one can determine the meta substituted, para substituted and orthosubstituted of the final products. Furthermore, HNMR and IR used to investigate the quality of the product.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would indicate that during the recrystallization there was a reduction in the percentage yield of the production. The obtained final product melting point rang was 76.2 780C. This would show that the experimental melting point was very close to the literature value of 78 80В°C which denotes the meta substituted of the product. So, the analysis of the melting point confirmed that the product was methyl meta nitrobenzoate as it was anticipated. Additionally, use of the melting point analysis shows that NO2 group could be added to the methyl benzoate at the meta position successfully. The ortho and para products could have been also analyzed during the experiment; however, they were not chosen for the product (methyl benzoate) because they have unstable resonance forms that have positive charges near one another. The two positive charges that are next to one another can make the product to be unstable and as result ortho and para substituted products are not favorable in this electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction. Also, an IR of the product confirmed that methyl m nitrobenzoate as a favorable. A peak located at 1536.1cm showed of the Aromatic C=C. At the 1351.8cm 1 there is a 1 presence of NO2. Half of locations do not have any change. On the other hand, only 1 location does not have change in the other group s table. Most of velocities from T 2 are negative. Therefore, the water level is decreasing. No matter the experiment time is almost same (None of data has difference more than 10 minute For example, in T 1, the time in for 1A is 14:39 pm and in T 2, the time in for 1A is 14:33 pm), the result from each table has large difference. I assume the difference cause by having different tide cycle on both days. Discussion To confirm my assumption, which is each day has different tide cycle, I compare our data to Corte Madera tide table. On Wednesday 19th, Corte Madera Creek has first low tide at 3:37 AM and second low tide at 2:57 pm. The first high tide was at 10:05 am and the next high tide was at 9:22 pm. The tidal coefficient was 67 (middle). The maximum high tide recorded in the tide tables for Corte Madera Creek which is of 7.2 ft and a minimum height of 2.0 ft. First, it provides much more spatially detailed information than traditional data at the aggregate level of planning districts. Hence, using this disaggregate information, we can suggest policy implications to establish specific land use and transportation planning. UrbanSim, one of the advanced microsimulation model developed by University of Washington, uses gridcells of 150*150 meter, which presents spatially detailed structure and enables researchers to evaluate current urban land use patterns as well as predict future urban land use change at the micro level. However, a building scale analysis provides much more benefits because it is a more realistic model and can be easily combined with current urban big data. For example, if this agent based model is combined with complex human behaviors data, it can provide much more specific information for predicting events of an emergency such as a building fire and disasters from earthquake or tsunami. Also, if this model is combined with information on spatial human activities from mobile phone, it can provide great benefits for managing spatial and temporal planning for the urban places. More specifically, we can identify hot spots during daytime and nighttime, which can help to predict travel demands as well land use demand. Second, with the building scale dataset, we can deal with a variety of urban problems and issues. For example, energy is one of the big issues in our

Akhenaten commemorated the founding of his new capital by erecting boundary stelae, markers placed around the capital to show the limit of the city. These markers were also used to keep any god other than Aton, out of the city. The king also prohibited all festivals and worship of Osiris, Isus, Mut and Ptah and any and all other major and minor deities, as only one god was to be worshipped, that god being Aton. In this sense, Akhenaten became a ruler with a newly created religion, monotheism. If the price of oil is tripled in a year then the company is able to purchase oil at the last years locked in price, which is lower than the current price, which in turn helps the company to save a lot of money (Grabianowski, 2009). But, if the price of oil falls then the company ends up paying more and loses money. There are different types of financial instruments available for companies and investors to hedge against crude oil price volatility. These instruments can be traded financially without the tangible physical delivery of crude oil and different instruments have different time periods. Some of the hedging tools are Options, Futures and Swaps. But for this paper we will only focus on option contracts for management of risk in crude oil trading. OPTIONS The modern day financial options market came into existence in 1973. It was known as the Chicago Board Options Exchange. During the same year, Fisher Black and Myron Scholes invented a formula to calculate the price of an option using specific variables. This formula was later called the Black Scholes Pricing Model and it had a huge impact on investors as they became confident about the idea of trading options. As of today there are thousands of option instruments (stocks, bonds and currency) listed in the market and millions of them are traded every day. Options offer extra flexibility to buyers for managing currency or price risk as they work like an insurance policy. Call option and Put option
  • 40. Future Is Unpredictable And Uncontrollable Event Future is unpredictable and uncontrollable event. Even we plan ahead of time, there s still something that will get in the ways. But having a plan is always a good thing since we cannot predict what will happen. My life plan is very simple; getting a job, travel, being able to support my family and have enough money for investing. My 5 years plan will be the first step to obtain my life plan. I will try to learn, get more experiences and face all kind of real life petroleum problems, so that I will have a decent amount of skills which is needed if I aim for a promotion. While looking for a job in oil industry, my back up plan is to work in a Nail Salon. Since most of Vietnamese people in the US is familiar with being a manicurist and it has a good payout. I have been helping my uncle with his salon in the weekend and I made quite enough money to cover my gas, food and books while attending college. So it sure will help me a lot during this downturn. The second thing is to marry my girlfriend. We are dating for 4 years, been through a lot of things and she is always by my side for the whole time. We re planning to

For I do not know what exactly I am yet, I know I must be important. One man, who must be the ruler or leader of these people, checks on me everyday to see how close I am to being done. I do not understand these people, but I believe that I am their creation using two different cultures. As I take shape, I can see that my body is the shape of a creature. They call it an animal, from what i can hear them talk about this animal, they call it a lion. This lion, is huge in the egyptian culture. The fur and the lion s muscles are beautifully done to the point where im am impressed. This process takes an incredibly long time to finish and takes an incredible amount of concentration. I am not made of the same material as the crafters, they look soft and warm but i feel like I am quite solid and cold. I over hear the workers talking about how I am made from granite, a sculpting material only used for the greatest of works.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is puzzling to me because that would make me half man and half lion. Learning more from hearing the workers talking, I have found out that the Egyptians have been taken over by a new ruler. For a very long time, Egypt has been taking a lot of things from its neighbors the Kushites. The Kushites have lived near the Egyptians for thousands of years, and always have been looked down upon by its northern neighbor. They would often steal their resources, like their gold, ivory and often their slaves. Slaves are a huge proponent of Egyptian culture, and even Egypt was said to be the Master to the Kushites. Although recently, the Kushites have conquered all of the cities in Egypt and have gained rule over

Argumentative Synthesis Letter from Birmingham Jail Kc Abakporo English 102 4353 Instructor Joshua Barnes 7/2/13 The Everlasting Voice of Understanding During the 1960 s of American history violent acts were aimed at African Americans in the name of racism and segregation. In a case such as this one, many would seek refuge from the government, but to little surprise, cries for refuge went unanswered. Making matters worse was the fact that the Government allowed segregation to continue due to legal documents in many southern states. Acceptable forms of oppression were separated into four categories: racial segregation; voter suppression, in southern states; denial of economic opportunity; private acts of violence aimed at African Americans. At this time, many civil rights laws were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... King to continue waiting but 340 years is ample time to wait. King continues to say that some of the preachers of God have understood the need for justice, but some have suppressed the blacks themselves. He believes that the preachers have to break the traditional, unjustified rules of the society to allow for the freedom of the children of God. The true meaning of the Bible lies in justice and co existence. He wants moral justice to overcome the traditional norms which were unjust in nature. He conveys this message well in his letter. He further writes: One day the South will know that when these disinherited children of God sat down at lunch counters, they were in reality standing up for what is best in the American dream and for the most sacred values in our Judaeo Christian heritage (King 6). King also uses quotes from the Bible to further involve the emotional attachment of the people with the Bible. He compares himself with Apostle Paul when he says that he is going to carry the gospel of freedom to the places beyond his native town. This served two purposes. On one hand, he could reach out to the illiterate people who knew of Paul through churches, and on the other hand, he made it clear that he was undertaking a big mission. So, the whites were expected to come to support him in the name of god. Besides using the name of god to appeal to the people, King presents the real scenario of the life of the African Americanpeople to arouse sympathy

MRI images were manually independently delineated by 2 radiologists and CHOL PET images were both manually delineated by 2 nuclear physicians and by automatic contours using SUV of 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%. All delineated images are stacked using landmarks from SPACE MRI as a reference. One with the best match with pathological slices will be the most accurate. No extra benefits is yet determined from these CHOL PET imaging in the study, however considering their age it would not affect their quality of life as much as younger generations. Data obtained could be used for further research and benefit future patients. 3.2 Design Bias: Apart from sample bias, Article addressed possible influences of contour correlation apart from imaging modalities. All possible factors were compared and assessed independently. Positive correlations with the result DSC were found in prostatectomy Gleason score and relative pathological tumor volume. Tumor configuration type IV and transition zone type IV were found to have significantly less DSC than any other 3 types, which all had relatively similar DSC values. • 46. Rousseau’s Second Discourse The last paragraph of the prelude to the Second Discourse is an impassioned appeal whose scope transcends the boundaries of time and space alike, calling for readers to pay attention to the history of man and society that Rousseau is on the verge of putting forth. Beginning with this authorial intrusion a form of literary apostrophe the essay adopts historical writing as its primary narrative mode. This method stands in direct contrast with the approach Thomas Hobbestakes in his Leviathan, in which the Englishman sets out to prove propositions as one might do geometrically, by preceding from valid arguments and sound premises. Rousseau s rejection of philosophy, at least as he understands it in the Second Discourse, embodies the emphasis... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most importantly for Rousseau, however, is not necessarily how history lets him see how men might have been or how history lets him strike a balance between grasping the intricacy of human history and succeeding fluidly from one thought to another; it is how framing his work in such a way lets him give the greatest demonstrative proof of the point he makes. The first part of the work consists in a history of mankind until the institution of the social contract, and it reads easily and freely, just as man in Rousseau s conception was in those days. The second part of the Second Discourse, which deals with the critique of the social contract itself, however, reads much more heavily, as if Rousseau were attempting to give the reader a taste of the gravity the social contract itself imposes upon man. The opening lines of the second half already launch his scathing attack on civil society by associating this notion with a man who takes advantage of his fellow men: The first person who, having enclosed a plot of land, took it into his head to say this is mine and found people simple enough to believe him, was the true founder of civil society. What crimes, wars, murders, what miseries and horrors would the human race have been spared, had someone pulled up the stakes or filled in the ditch and cried out to his fellow men: Do not listen to this imposter. You are lost if you forget that the fruits of the
  • 47. The Government s Background Investigation Essay Topic: The US government s background investigation process for individuals seeking employment with US Federal, State, and Local government agencies and private sector organizations is an important part of US homeland security. Through a thorough investigation of an individual s biographical, residential, employment, education, military, medical, financial and legal histories, etc., information regarding an applicant s background is obtained and a report of investigation (ROI) is prepared and submitted to an adjudicator for review. After review of the ROI, the adjudicator makes a determination of an individual s suitability to obtain a security clearance for a position impacting the US national security. If the results of a background investigation are favorably adjudicated, the individual is eligible to receive a security clearance; if certain derogatory information is obtained during the background investigation, an individual can be denied a security clearance. Problem: Although much personal and private information is obtained and reviewed during most background investigations, there is one glaring omission of information that can prove to be valuable in determining the suitability for an individual to obtain a security clearance. The information listed on an individual s social media accounts (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Internet Chat rooms) can provide invaluable insight into a subject s character, integrity, loyalty, allegiance and other characteristics
