Modern art refers to the period from the 1860s to the 1970s during which artists experimented with abstraction and new techniques to escape rigid realism. Contemporary art emerged after the 1960s and includes works created by living artists that often comment on social issues rather than just representing an individual perspective. Unlike modern art, contemporary art has a social impact and allows more freedom of expression.

is historical and chronological.
Modern art had its unique style and reflected the inner and
outer world. It focused on surrealism rather than depicted
life as perceived by the church or the influential in society.
Contemporary art is one created by artists who are still
living. Every topic of relevant significance like globalization,
global warming, human rights, environmental destruction
were reflected in the contemporary arts.

15. Modern art was the art style predominant during the
1860's to the 1970's. The art during this time attempted
to escape the rigid philosophies of traditional paintings
that leaned toward realism for a style that leaned
heavily on abstraction and experimentation.
Contemporary art on the other hand, is the art style of
the 21st century and are mostly created as social
commentary rather than solely being a perspective of
an artist.
16. Modern art refers to the period that began in the 1880s
and that lasted until the 1960s. Contemporary art can
be said to be the art that was developed after the
1960s and is still emerging.
Contemporary art is one created by artists who are still
living. The late 1900s saw major social, political, and
cultural reformations across the world which had greatly
influenced this art form. Unlike modern art,
contemporary art has some social impact. Moreover,
contemporary artists had significant freedom and
liberty to experiment with all styles.
17. Modern Art and Contemporary Art are two distinct art
era in the art movement.
Modern Art is used to define Modernism, a period which
included a number of ‘-ism’s such as Impressionism,
Post-Impressionism, Fauvism; Cubism; Expressionism;
Dadaism, Surrealism, Pop Art and many other art
movements, which all together formed Modernism.
These movements were all influenced by a variety of
factors such as light, asian art, african art, etc.
Contemporary art, which follows the era of Modern art,
is considered to have begun from 1970s and is still
ongoing.
