Two German children, Hansel and Gretel, get lost in the woods after going out to play. As night falls, they become scared and lost. They come upon a house made of gingerbread, cake, and chocolate. Hungry, they begin to eat the house. An old woman comes out and invites them inside, but she is actually a wicked witch. She imprisons Hansel and forces Gretel to care for him, planning to eat Hansel once he is fat. One day, as the witch is preparing the oven for Hansel, she falls in and is burned up. Gretel rescues Hansel from the cage, and the two happily reunite and return home.
