Head	
  teacher	
  Angela	
  Armytage

  catalytic,

  is	
  confident	
  that	
  what	
  has	
  been	
  achieved	
  would	
  have	
  been	
  
managed	
  on	
  the	
  old	
  site.	
  ‘The	
  community	
  (within	
  and	
  beyond	
  the	
  
school)	
  could	
  see	
  it	
  literally	
  rising	
  behind	
  them.	
  It	
  gave	
  their	
  efforts	
  a	
  
sense	
  of	
  momentum;	
  
we	
  were	
  really	
  moving	
  on.	
  [But]	
  We	
  would	
  have	
  done	
  it	
  somehow.	
  We	
  
would	
  have	
  made	
  different	
  spaces.	
  We	
  would	
  have	
  found	
  another	
  
catalyst’.	
  Against	
  the	
  promise	
  –	
  and	
  then	
  the	
  reality	
  –	
  of	
  a	
  beautiful	
  
new	
  building	
  at	
  their	
  disposal	
  must	
  be	
  set	
  the	
  additional	
  work,	
  stress	
  
and	
  focus	
  that	
  planning	
  a	
  move	
  entails.	
  Of	
  course	
  buildings	
  matter,	
  but	
  
it	
  should	
  not	
  be	
  thought	
  that	
  the	
  arrival	
  of	
  Yewlands’	
  new	
  facility	
  was	
  
either	
  a	
  necessary	
  –	
  nor	
  sufficient	
  –	
  condition.	
  Without	
  its	
  powerful	
  
vision	
  as	
  prerequisite,	
  change	
  on	
  this	
  scale	
  could	
  not	
  have	
  been

  • 3.   together  the  best  from  all  Educational  Models.  (This       is  the  Eos  brand!)   • Leadership  Training,  Coaching  and  Development   • Strategic  Planning,  Monitoring  and  Evaluation   • Networking   • Conference  speaker/workshops     More  about  my  current  role:     I  am  currently  working  as  Executive  Director  of  Eos   Education  and  as  a  Senior  Associate  with  Innovation  Unit,   London.    This  is  an  exciting  role  that  enables  me  to  work   with  the  most  forward  thinking  schools  at  Primary  and   Secondary  level  globally.       My  work  with  the  Innovation  Unit  has  enabled  the   development  of  some  excellent  training  and  coaching   models  and  materials  for  radical  new  ways  of  developing   Leadership  and  delivering  Learning,  including  elements  of   the  ‘High  Tech  High’  Project  Based  Learning  approach  and   ‘Expeditionary  Learning’  with  Ron  Berger.  We  now  have   examples  of  exemplary  practice  in  schools  like  ‘School  21’   in  London,  a  new  3-­‐18  years  Free  School  set  up  3  years  ago   and  rated  as  ‘Outstanding’.         My  work  with  Eos  Education  and  ‘Immersive  Learning’   (Carl  Jarvis)  has  enabled  a  blended  approach  where  REAL   projects  and  Immersive  Learning  approaches  come   together  to  provide  a  unique,  ‘world  class’  model  of   educational  excellence.     My  experience  with  the  Innovation  Unit  and  Eos  Education   means  that  I  have  a  diverse  network  of  practice  to  support   schools  as  they  set  out  to  develop  new  and  innovative   pedagogical  approaches  to  learning.    My  aim,  along  with   Eos  Education,  is  to  constantly  remain  at  the  forefront  of   educational  innovation  and  to  keep  moving  our  learning   forwards  so  that  we  can  provide  a  ‘world  class’  education   system  for  all  learners.
