The document proposes the Apollo Clinical Excellence Forum (ACE Forum), a web-based platform for consultants of Apollo Hospitals Group to share medical innovations, clinical best practices, research ideas, second opinions, and information on events. 1. Apollo Clinical Excellence Forum
A Concept Note
In order to further Apollo Hospitals Group commitment to Clinical Excellence, an
initiative called Apollo Clinical Excellence Forum: ACE Forum was proposed in
the year 2008. The forum is a web based platform for all consultants of the Apollo
Group to share new ideas on medical innovations, clinical best practices,
research ideas, second opinion forum, information on upcoming events,
accolades and achievements. It was also thought to create a communication
forum which will serve as a platform for the leadership and senior management
to reach out to the consultants to share their views.
This forum is linked to the Apollo Website and the accessibility would be through
a user name and password. Provision was created of an email being
automatically sent to all the consultants whenever a subject matter entry is made
into the site.
The web based forum shall have the following subdivisions:
1. Apollo Medical Innovation Forum
Consultants shall be able to post their ideas on innovations in the medical field
on this platform. Innovations the world over can be shared by doctors in diverse
fields here. A group of six to eight eminent consultants from the Group shall be
nominated to discuss if any of these innovations can be used for improving
patient care at Apollo Hospitals by acquiring new technology or processes.
These would then be discussed in a Core Group comprising of the Chairman,
MD, Executive Directors and other senior members of the Group and the team of
consultants in a quarterly review.
2. Apollo Clinical Best Practices Forum
Consultants from across the Group can share their clinical best practices on this
platform. It would be an enriching experience for all the consultants to be able to
gain insight into the practices acknowledged as among the best in their fields by
their peers. A group of the Director Medical Services of the main Apollo Hospitals
shall collectively review if any of these clinical best practices can be incorporated
into our systems as clinical pathways or clinical practice guidelines.

2. 3. Accolades and Achievements Forum
This would be a site where all consultants could post their achievements in the
form of any of the following:

A mechanism would be worked out whereby entries posted to this forum would
be viewable to only a group of Director Medical Services who would verify these
before transferring them to a forum that would be viewable to all consultants.
4. Research Ideas Forum
Ideas for undertaking research in suggested fields could be posted on this forum.
The Advisory Board of AHERF would periodically review these ideas to sift out
the ones that can be undertaken by them for research.
5. Second Opinion Forum
Consultants shall be able to use this forum for seeking second opinion or advice
from their peers regarding their professional dilemmas and rare case
presentations.
6. Information Forum for Upcoming Events
Information regarding upcoming events could be posted on this forum by the
consultants for their peers to view and participate.

3. 7. Communication Forum
This would be a platform for the Chairman, MD and Executive Directors to reach
out to the consultants with their ideas.
The Apollo Clinical Excellence Forum will help in promoting communication and
collective sharing of experience, ideas, achievements and information amongst
the consultants of the Apollo Group, binding them into a community and
furthering the cause of clinical excellence at Apollo.
Timelines
Preliminary discussions have taken place with Binod. The launch date of ACEF is
to coincide with Apollo Group anniversary on 18th September 2010.
