It also describes plans to analyze metadata elements, formats, languages, and other attributes across repositories to homogenize metadata without losing information when integrating repositories into the VOA3R federation.
The EUnetHTA perspective on the HTA databasePatrice Chalon
Presentation at HTAi Annual meeting 2017, panel session "Rescuing the HTA database – future options and challenges"
A central, international database for HTA reports and other HTA products is considered to be a vital source of information for healthcare researchers and stakeholders. The current HTA database, which contains over 15,000 documents submitted by numerous HTA agencies, was originally established by the International Network of Agencies for Health Technology Assessment (INAHTA) in 2007 and is available on the website of the UK Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD). The database has so far been funded by the UK National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). Its existence is however endangered as future funding is unclear. If no alternative is found, it will no longer be maintained and only an archived version will be available. There would thus no longer be a single access point to HTA reports.
Previous research has indicated that more than 75% of HTA agencies use the HTA database and more than half adapt common HTA products from reports produced by other agencies.1 The lack of an HTA database would have a direct impact on these activities. Smaller HTA agencies would be particularly affected, as they often have insufficient resources to produce their own reports and rely on reports from larger agencies. The wider consequences should also be considered: for instance, the decreasing visibility of HTA reports would diminish their relevance. It may also become more difficult to establish collaborations between HTA agencies. The problem would thus affect the whole HTA community.
Often, however, a crisis also offers opportunities. The establishment of a new HTA database should include a re-evaluation of its structure and technical functions (e.g. inclusion of ongoing projects).
Structure of the session: Short presentations will be held to provide an overview of the different perspectives of the various HTA agencies and networks currently involved in the discussions on the future of the HTA database. The panel will focus on the initiatives to rescue the database and present the options for funding, hosting, structure and technical functions. There will also be a guided discussion on the possible solutions presented and the challenges faced.
Panel/Workshop outcome and objectives: At the end of the session, participants should be aware of the overall importance of the HTA database, the current status quo, and the potential features of a future HTA database.
The document describes how Deep SEARCH 9 can help set up a news tracker to gather intelligence from clinical trials on the European Clinical Trial Register website. It outlines a 12 step process to configure the news tracker, which includes calculating the daily deep web URL, crawling new filings, extracting key data fields, adding visual elements like status icons, and deploying the tracker as a web application. The goal is to provide an up-to-date overview of what companies are actively conducting clinical trials and for which medical conditions.

This document summarizes Pedro Príncipe's presentation on OpenAIRE services and tools. It discusses OpenAIRE's role in supporting open access and open data in Horizon 2020 projects through services like Zenodo, the OpenAIRE infrastructure, and linking research results. It also highlights how OpenAIRE can help researchers deposit publications and data, link them to projects, and facilitate reporting to funders. Finally, it outlines OpenAIRE's helpdesk, training, and guidance resources for open science policies.
The EC/OpenAIRE FP7 Post-Grant Open Access Pilot: A View on ‘Region East’OpenAIRE
The document discusses the EC/OpenAIRE FP7 Post-Grant Open Access Pilot, which provides €4 million in funding to cover open access publishing fees for over 8,000 completed FP7 projects. To be eligible, publications must have resulted from completed FP7 projects, be peer-reviewed, and be deposited in an OpenAIRE-compliant repository. Researchers can apply for funding by submitting requests to the OpenAIRE system, including information about the project, publication, and invoice. So far over 300 requests have been approved, though uptake has been low in some regions like Italy and Eastern Europe. Efforts are underway to engage more publishers and speed up identification of eligible publications.
This document discusses the evolving role of institutional repositories (IRs) in light of increasing open access mandates from research funders. It provides a brief history of IRs and outlines challenges they currently face in supporting new compliance requirements. Specifically, IRs were not designed to track publications, link them to funded projects, or manage related metadata and processes. While some institutions have separate systems like a CRIS that can fulfill more of these functions, many rely solely on their IR. The document explores potential solutions on the horizon, like the JISC Monitor project and IRUS usage statistics service, that could help institutions manage open access activities and reporting. Overall, mandates are pushing IRs in new directions beyond their original open access goals

A year an a half into its implementation, the EC post-grant funding initiative for FP7 projects run under the OpenAIRE2020 project is already producing some findings, both in the area of APC-based Gold Open Access and in providing support to APC-free Open Access journals and platforms. While exploring the rather fragmented Open Access landscape across Europe, this presentation will look into the evolution of the multiple parallel strategies for Open Access implementation under the light of the work carried out within this post-grant funding initiative. It's argued that a widespread progress will require support for the different co-existing strategies.

OpenAIRE "How to make your repository OpenAIRE compliant: proprietary platforms"OpenAIRE
Want to support and monitor the implementation of the FP7 Open Access pilot? Want to help your faculty members comply with the Open Access requirements of the European Commission (EC)? Interested in learning more about making your repository compliant with the OpenAIRE infrastructure? Want to add EC project data to your repository records and use OpenAIRE value-added functionality (post authoring tools, monitoring tools through analysis of document and usage statistics)? See the slides from our online workshop! In order to harvest and connect publications to related EC FP7 grant agreement and calculate the percentage of Open Access versus non-Open Access publications, the OpenAIRE project requires repositories to adapt to the OpenAIRE Guidelines. These are low-barrier requirements for OAI-PMH compliant repositories that build on the oai_dc and DRIVER Guidelines. When your repository is OpenAIRE compliant, its FP7 funded content is harvested periodically, indexed within the OpenAIRE portal and presented in the OpenAIRE search and browse section. In this way, FP7 funded research results deposited in your repository can achieve wider visibility and distribution – and be read, used and cited more widely by the global research community. Research managers in your institution will be able to compare your institutional performance in FP7 projects with the performance of other institutions in your country and within the European Union using the OpenAIRE FP7 publication statistics tool. You will also save time for researchers at your institution. Repositories, successfully harvested by the OpenAIRE, are entitled to display the OpenAIRE logo on their website, to certify quality and the global networked status of their content. The OpenAIRE project team can help you with your targeted advocacy activities to ensure that high quality content is deposited into your repository and then harvested by the OpenAIRE portal. We reach out to the researchers publishing FP7 funded articles and encourage them to self-archive in your repository.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
Threats to mobile devices are more prevalent and increasing in scope and complexity. Users of mobile devices desire to take full advantage of the features
available on those devices, but many of the features provide convenience and capability but sacrifice security. This best practices guide outlines steps the users can take to better protect personal devices and information.

Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/hcl-notes-and-domino-license-cost-reduction-in-the-world-of-dlau/
The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
- Understanding the DLAU tool and how to best utilize it
- Tips for common problem areas, like team mailboxes, functional/test users, etc

3. Applying for Funding: the System
3
A central system for collecting and processing funding requests has been made
available at the OpenAIRE Portal, https://postgrantoapilot.openaire.eu/
Check the demo video on how to use this central system at:
http://www.liber2015.org.uk/event/openaire2020-workshop-on-gold-open-access/?instance_id=365
5. How to Apply for Funding
5
1. Funding requests may be directly submitted by researchers or delivered by
Libraries and/or Research Offices on their behalf
1. Users need to register with the Central System in order to submit a funding
request
1. Data about the project and the accepted publication will be requested in order to
check their eligibility. Once this is checked, the funding request will be approved
and left pending until an invoice is available
1. Invoice for the OA publishing fee needs to be
uploaded into the Central System when made
available by the publisher. The invoice must be
issued to Athena Research Centre (ARC).
6. 6
Early Outcomes
Consultations on eligibility for funding arrived before submission are welcome and are
included in the list, but no funding will be provided until acceptance, and their presence in
the table does not mean they are on a waiting list
A spreadsheet with details for the granted funding requests is already being kept

APC-equivalent Funding
Instead of APCs, this APC-equivalent funding for APC-free journals will fund technical
improvements in the publishing workflows at eligible journals.
Two main challenges to tackle:
Defining the technical and administrative mechanisms for providing the funding,
which includes (among others) what to fund, whom to fund, how to fund and what
indicators to use for accountability.
Making sure eligible researchers will submit their work to these journals, which
includes a specific dissemination strategy plus ensuring SSH journals are registered in
ERIH+ and checking how many FP7-funded publications have previously been published
in them.
10. 10
Some fundable improvements
The current (draft) list of fundable technical improvements for APC-free journals includes:
• Collecting funder information (if/where declared and applicable) in the appropriate
metadata element, also retrospectively
• Registration in ERIH+/DOAJ
• Becoming harvested by OpenAIRE and DOAJ (at article-level)
• Improving OA advocacy towards authors (incl Pilot dissemination)
• Implementing OJS peer-review and manuscript processing workflows
• Including references in machine-readable format
• Implementing ORCID
• Implementing altmetrics
11. 11
What NOADs can do
Getting in contact with eligible researchers and projects to raise awareness of the
initiative once list of contact persons have been collected from internal systems.
Translate the Pilot factsheets for researchers and institutions and disseminating
them across the institutions in the country.
Identify opportunities for dissemination of the initiative and let the Pilot coordination
know about them. A Pilot poster is available now that can be re-used. Follow the uptake of
institutional webpages with info on the Pilot.
Hold a national online session or webinar on this FP7 Post-Grant OA Pilot for
interested institutions in the country. The Pilot coordination will be keen to support the
effort, even with an online presentation.
Share the periodic reports on the progress of the initiative.
