“COUGH SYRUP”
9. “COUGH SYRUP”
Once upon a time in the City of
Bayugan, there lived a friendly
pharmacist named Dr. Marvin. He
was known for her colorful apron and
his magical pharmacy, where he
could create special medicines to help
all the Bayuganon people feel better.
10. One sunny morning, a young girl named
Mia came into Dr. Marvin's pharmacy
with a persistent cough. Mia's mom,
worried about her little one, asked Dr.
Marvin for help. Dr. Marvin listened
carefully to Mia's cough and decided to
make a special cough syrup. He explained
to Mia's mom that this syrup would have
two important ingredients honey for
soothing the throat and guaifenesin for
breaking up the mucus in the chest.
11. But Dr. Marvin knew that for medicine
to work just right, he needed to be very
precise with his measurements. He
needed to figure out the percent by mass
for the honey and the percent by volume
for the guaifenesin.
For the honey, Dr. Marvin weighed 10
grams of it to make sure it was 20% of the
total mass of the syrup. He gently stirred
it into the mixture, knowing that it would
make the syrup sweet and comforting.
12. Next, for the guaifenesin, she carefully
measured 5 milliliters of it because he
wanted it to be 10% of the total volume of
the syrup. He added it to the mixture and
mixed it thoroughly. Guaifenesin would
help Mia's body get rid of the mucus that
was causing her cough.
Dr. Marvin knew that getting the right
concentrations was important to make the
medicine work effectively. He poured the
finished cough syrup into a small, colorful
bottle and handed it to Mia's mom, who
was grateful for Dr. Marvin's magical
potion.
13. Mia took the syrup as instructed, and soon
her cough began to improve. She no longer felt
irritated, and her throat was soothed by the
honey. The guaifenesin worked its magic to clear
her chest, and Mia was soon back to her
cheerful self, playing with her friends in
Bayugan city.
Dr. Marvin's special cough syrup, made with the
perfect percentages of honey and guaifenesin,
had worked wonders. It was a reminder to
everyone in Bayugan city that even in medicine,
a little bit of magic combined with careful
measurements could make a big difference in
helping people feel better.
14. Question :
1.What was the story all about?
2. How did Dr. Marvin made the
syrup?
3. What will happen if the
concentration of a solution is not
right?
16. Objectives : at the end of the lesson, learners will be able
to.
A. define concentration of solution;
B. describe the concentration of a
solution;
C. solve percentage by mass and volume
related
problems.
D. appreciate the importance of
understanding the
concentration of a solution.
17. UNLOCKING OF DIFFICULTIES
Concentration of solution refers to the measure of the amount of
solute that has been dissolved in a solvent or solution.
Quantitative measurement of concentration is used to tell us the
amount (expressed in numbers) of solute present in a solution.
Dilute solution has a low concentration of the solute compared to
the solvent.
Concentrated solution is one in which there is a large amount of
solute present in a solution.
Percent by volume is the amount of solute in each volume of
solution expressed as milliliters solute per 100 milliliters of solution
(ml/100 mL).
Percent by mass is the amount of solute in each mass of solvent
expressed as gram solute per 100 grams of solution.
18. “SOLVE ME, KNOW ME”
Objective:
at the end of the lesson, learners will be able to
understand and solve the percent by mass and percent
by volume.
This time we will be having an activity and this
activity is entitled “SOLVE ME, KNOW ME”. I have
here four different envelope and each envelope has
their own task, what you need to do is to analyze the
given task and answer the guide questions. After
10minutes each group must select representative to
report their answer in class.
19. 10 (Outstanding) the content was delivered
excellently with confidence. All group members
work together to accomplish the task.
8 (Satisfactory) the content was delivered
satisfactorily with mannerism. 80% of the group
members worked together to accomplish the task.
5 (Developing) the content was delivered poorly
with little confidence. 50% of the group
members worked together to accomplish the task.
