The commune of Vintila Voda is located in the mountainous area of Buzau County along the Slănic River. It contains the ruins of the former Ot Menedec monastery built in 1532, which served as the episcopal residence of the Orthodox Church. The ruins include the first monastery fortress founded in Wallachia by Prince Vlad Vintila Voievod between 1532-1535. The monastery church, dedicated to St. Nicholas, still stands. The commune also has a municipal hospital, family chapels, several village churches, and access to natural landmarks like the Sparkling Volcanoes and Salt Mountain.
