Computers have had a huge impact on the medical and military fields. In medicine, computers are used for cancer detection and running hospital functions. A new IBM computer called Watson can take a patient's history and create a personalized treatment plan, helping doctors with incorrect diagnoses. Watson gives doctors a new way to fight disease. The military also relies heavily on computers for intelligence gathering, data analysis, and weapon control like missiles and drones. A survey found that most people believe hospitals could not function without computers, while computers have most impacted the medical field. Computers will continue developing to assist in more ways.

Computers are important to the medical field as
they are used to detect cancer and other diseases and
help run the functions of a hospital. New computers are
being introduced with the potential to give doctors a new
way to fight diseases.

6. The Watson Computer
The Watson computer is a new IBM cognitive
system that doctors believe will be able to make a big
difference in the way hospitals function
This computer takes a patient’s medical history to
determine his condition and then creates a personalized
treatment unique to the patient.

Since nearly one in five diagnoses are incorrect, one in
five patients are given the wrong treatment.
