Teacher: How many fish we can see on this card? Let’s count together.
Teacher and Students: One fish.
Teacher: Now let’s count together how many we can see here
on this card?
Teacher and Students: One, two, three fish.

3. Teacher: So how many more fish do we have on the second card than we do on the first card?
Students: One, two more fish than on the first card.
Teacher: Yes that’s right, we have two more fish on the second card than we do on the first
card.

4. Using the resource to compare Less
Teacher: How many fish we can see on this card? Let’s count together.
Teacher and Students: One, two, three fish.
Teacher: How many fish can you see on this one?
Students: One, two fish.

5. Teacher: Yes, there is three fish on the first card and two fish on the second card. So how many less fish do
we see on the second card than we can see on the first card? Let’s count them and find out.
Teacher and Students: Three fish take away one fish is two fish.
Teacher: Yes, so there is one less fish on the second card than there is on the first card.

6. Using the resource to compare “Same as” and “not the same as”
Teacher: What can you see that is not the same as the other in these two pictures?
Students: One has big fish and one has small fish.
Teacher: Yes, so on the first card the fish are large fish and on the second card the fish are small?
Students: Yes.

7. Teacher: And what can you tell me is the same as the other in these two cards?
Students: They both have the same amount of fish on them.
Teacher: Yes, there is three large fish on the first card and three small fish on the second card.
