We use comparatives to compare 2 things:

There are two main types of comparative
adjectives:
Short adjectives Long adjectives
1syllable adjectives :
 Tall → taller
 Long → longer
 Fast → faster
2 syllable adjectives ending in
–y
 Pretty →prettier
 Happy → happier
 Adjectives with 2or more
syllables:
 Boring → more boring
 Intelligent → more intelligent
There are some irregular comparatives
Good → Better Bad → Worse
 Pepperoni pizza is better than
vegetable pizza
 My book is worse than your book
When we use comparatives we use
the conjunction “than”
Peter is older than Mary Films are more interesting
than documentaries

Emily and Angela are tall. Angela is the tallest.
