5. The Mechanical Team The Mechanical Team supports the following departments: I&PS, S&VS, Propulsion, Materials, and Test. Using Unigraphics CAD, CAM, CAE, Solid Edge, Pro-Engineer, VisView, SmartSketch, Delmia Simulation Tools (Envision, Igrip, and Quest), Teamcenter Engineering, and Intralink, we provide the following services: Technical expertise in software functionality that adhere to NASA organizational standards System support for loading software and configuration changes for optimum performance Feedback to software vendors regarding customer response and desired enhancements. Seminars to keep users abreast of software functionality and enhancements. Technical expertise in development, implementation and operation of engineering database to control preliminary drawings and maintain information regarding assembly bill of materials Technical assistance utilizing robotic simulation for clearance studies, visualization and off-line programming of 6, 7, and 8 doff robots and Kinematic devices. 6. The Mechanical Team Brian Griffin - Team lead for the IES Mechanical Support Group. Our group provides support, customization, and standardization, for all the mechanical CAD/CAM/CAE software as well as for the product data management systems. Supported software includes Pro/Engineer, NX, Solid Edge, IGRIP, Envision, SmartSketch, Teamcenter Engineering, and WindChill PDMLink. Supervise group responsible for support and customization of all Mechanical CAD (MCAD) applications and product data management systems. Provide primary MCAD support for EV12. Create custom Unigraphics and ProEngineer programs for extending the functionality of the CAD system and tailoring the system to customer specifications. Administer all MCAD software licenses as well as generate reports on license usage. Act as focal point for all MCAD software vendors. 7. The Mechanical Team Bob Beard - Provide primary CAD support for EI12, EI41, and EM30. Troubleshoot design related problems; define proper workflows and establish best practices. Supported CAD applications are Unigraphics NX, Pro/Engineer, Solid Edge, SmartSketch and VisView. Provide Client-side support for the PLM Systems, TeamCenter and WindChill. Provide support on CAD file translations. Install engineering related software packages on customer workstations. Test and implement the engineering related software. Provide CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) support to the various machine shops on campus. The CAM products supported are UG NX CAM and Pro/E Wildfire CAM. The Mechanical Team Ron Brooks - supports various organizations and their respective contractors for the following software applications: Teamcenter Engineering, ArcIMS, ArcSDE, ArcGIS, MS IIS, Apache, Tomcat, MS Sharepoint, MSSQL and Oracle. Use “C” and Perl to customize Teamcenter Engineering. Use MS Visual Basic to customize ArcGIS. Act as Database Administrator for two MSSQL and four Oracle databases. Use Coldfusion and JavaScript to support EEMO’s GIS Web application EGIS. Perform software upgrades after ensuring they are compatible with existing software. Perform ongoing support for Teamcenter Engineering. Import/Export files into and out of Teamcenter Engineering using Unigraphics CAD and Perl. 9. The Mechanical Team Mike Brown - Provides technical consultation and support for MSFC's engineering tasks utilizing WindChill and Teamcenter with CAD applications. These responsibilities include WindChill database configuration and administration, Teamcenter database administration, and CAD to WindChill configuration support. Serve as a direct report to IEC DDMS team - ED03, responsible for system configuration and administration of MSFC's CAD-to-WindChill (Design Data Management System) processes. This role involves project management of the CAD implementation to WindChill, securing needed product and licensing configurations, organizing training across MSFC departments, managing the Configuration and Control Board (CCB) for WindChill (DDMS) CAD management releases, and consulting with MSFC management on future DDMS implementations. The Mechanical Team Scott Maddux – Provides onsite mechanical software support for ER34 and other various engineering departments using Unigraphics, Solid Edge, ProEngineer, Productvision, TeamCenter and WindChill PLM Solutions. Provide problem resolutions and expert advice in the use of CAD software and related applications. Develop and teach application specific seminars. Provide mechanical modeling for preliminary designs and/or for analysis. Provide parametric modeling for rocket engine component libraries. Develop design formats for Unigraphics, Solid Edge and ProEngineer. Serves on the Pro/Engineer Standards Committee Key person and Instrumental in the implementation of Pro/Engineer at NASA/MSFC. 11. The Mechanical Team Josh White - Provides onsite mechanical software support for ER34 and other various engineering departments. The main software applications I support are: Pro/E Wildfire, Solid Edge, Unigraphics, Teamcenter Visualization and Data Management, ProductView, and WindChill. Aid in design and modeling of complex piece parts and testing fixtures. Program customized add-on utilities for CAD software i.e. Unigraphics, Solid Edge and SmartSketch using UG Grip and Visual Basic language. Host seminar/work sessions for Unigraphics, TeamCenter Engineering, UG/Structures, Solid Edge, and VisView. Provide hands-on support for advance features in Unigraphics, Solid Edge, and Pro/E Wildfire modeling packages. Analyze customer problems by addressing software bugs and relaying their concerns to the software developers. Supply expertise in translating between CAD packages through STEP, IGES, DXF and other neutral formats. 12. The Mechanical Team Jeff Williams – Provide primary MCAD support for EV32 mechanical CAD packages including Unigraphics, Solid Edge, and ProEngineer. Resolve any CAD modeling problems NASA engineers face (i.e., redesigning models to make them more parametric and finding ways to work around software bugs.) Assist in the modeling of complex solid models (i.e., modeling of foam from the Space Shuttle External Tank for structural analysis.) Help determine best modeling practices and help set NASA CAD standards. Perform file translations to get solid models between the various packages, using STEP, IGES, and DXF formats.
